Ellis Wayne Smitherman Services for Ellis Smitherman, 48, of Clanton, will be held today, Feb. 26, at New Hope Assembly of God at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Reverends Calvin Smitherman and Mark Bolton officiating. Mr. Smitherman, a commercial fisherman, died at his home Feb. 24. Survivors include his wife, Terri Smitherman of Clanton; sons, Randy Smitherman of Auburn, Tommy Smitherman of Clanton, Robby Smitherman of Clanton, Erik Smitherman of Clanton; step-son, Carl Connell of Maplesville; daughter, Rachel Smitherman of Clanton; granddaughters, Alexis Smitherman of Clanton, Melanie Maddox of Clanton, Allie Smitherman of Clanton and Bailee Connell of Maplesville; grandsons, Colby Smitherman of Clanton, Joseph Smitherman of Clanton, Master Connell of Maplesville; brothers, Wilton, Robert and Charles Smitherman of Clanton; sisters, Dollie Hesler, Lamerle Heflin, Myrtice Walker, Shirley Patterson and Everine Minor, all of Clanton. He was the son of Milton and Odie Bell Smitherman.

Funeral services for Elvin Smitherman, 76, of Jemison, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at 1 a.m., with Rev. Tom Hilyer and Rev. Ray Smitherman. Burial followed at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Smitherman was born on July 31, 1925, in Chilton County, the son of Joe and Alvie Smitherman. He was a logger. He died on Sept 6, 2001, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include one son, Johnny Smitherman, Jemison, one daughter-in-law, Fredia Smitherman, Jemison; one daughter, Gail Avery, Jemison; five step-sons, Ted Giles and Ollie Lamar, both of Jemison, Ray Giles, Thorsby, Carl Lamar, Clanton, and Kenneth Giles, Mobile; one step-daughter, Mary Arnold, Columbiana; one sister, Dean Mims, Verbena; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Smitherman.

She was a homemaker. She died at Marbury Resurrection Catholic Nursing Home on March 30, 2002. Funeral and burial services for Thomas Edward Smitherman, Sr., 65, of Verbena, were held on Thursday, June 26, 1997 at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Jemison at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Calvin Smitherman officiating and the Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Smitherman was born in Alabama on October 13, 1931 to the late Joseph E. Smitherman and Alvie Hand Smitherman. He died in Verbena on June 23, 1997. He is survived by four daughters and four sons, Jan Wilks, Hoover; Judy Dilday, Montgomery; Barbara Burt, Grandbury, Texas; Lura Swanner, Montgomery; Thomas Smitherman, Jr., Grandbury, Texas; Eugene Smitherman, Colorado, Kennithe Smitherman and Michael Smitherman, Clanton; a sister and a brother: Mrs. Dean Mims, Verbena; Elvin Smitherman, Clanton; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Betty (Foshee) Snell, 71, Montgomery, were held on Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Greenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery, with Greenwood Funeral Home Foshee was the daughter of Sie and Cleo Foshee of Clanton. She also had two brothers, James King Foshee of Temple, Texas, and the late Jimmy Foshee of Clanton. She was a graduate of Chilton County High School and a member of the Catoma Baptist Church in Montgomery. She was retired from employment with the State of Alabama having worked with the state Department of Industrial Relations for over 35 years. She died on Thursday, July 29, 1999, in an automobile accident in the northwest of Georgia on I-59 along with two other occupants of the vehicle. Survivors include one son, Richard Snell, Montgomery; one daughter, Suzanne Broner, Hansen, Idaho; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was the daughter of Joseph Ras Smith and Martha (Cagle) Stewart.
