DOROTHY BILLINGSLEY

CHILDERSBURG Dorothy Billingsley, 69, died Feb. 3 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

MICHAEL D. HAMMONDS

BIRMINGHAM Michael D. Hammonds, 54, died Feb. 2 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel.

EDWARD HARRIS

MUNFORD Edward Harris, 45, of 200 McKinney Circle, died Feb. 2 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

FRANCES WILBANKS SMITH

DECATUR, Ill. Funeral service for Frances Wilbanks Smith, 77, was Monday, Jan. 26, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Ill. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Mrs. Smith died Jan. 21. She was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Eastaboga to James Leonard and Sallie Lou (Hutto) Wilbanks. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1948 and became a social worker. She married Robert E. Smith of Lineville in 1949 and they moved to the Midwest that year, eventually settling in Decatur, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother, James. She worked for the Illinois Department of Human Resources for 18 years and won distinction in her work even after retirement.

She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Greene and husband Richard of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ellen Henry and husband Mark of Decatur, Ill., and Julie Simpkins and husband Lyle of Decatur, Ill.; grandchildren, Justin and Amy Greene and Trevor Henry; sister, Mary Beth Wilbanks of Auburn; sisters-in-law, Virginia Coleman of Sylacauga and Evelyn Wood of Lineville; and four nephews.

Tributes may be made to the Macon County, Ill., Animal Shelter Foundation, Box 633, Decatur, Ill., 62525.

Dawson and Wikoff of Decatur directed the service.

OPAL AKERS BLOCKER

SYLACAUGA Funeral service for Opal Akers Blocker, 81, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with Dr. Albert Pike officiating. Burial will be in Stewartville Church of God.

Mrs. Blocker died Feb. 6 at Russell Medical Center.

She is survived by son, Jay W. Blocker of Sylacauga; daughter, Teresa B. Pike and husband Dr. Albert Pike of Alexander City; sister, Ineze Vick of Meridian, Miss.; sister-in-law, Gladys Akers of Sylacauga; grandsons, Jeff Blocker, Bryan Blocker, Adam Blocker, Allen Pike and Andy Pike; and great-granddaughters, Alana Blocker, Amber Blocker, Heather Blocker, Jordan Blocker and Morgan Blocker.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Allen Pike and Andy Pike.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

ILEE GROCE

LINCOLN Ilee Groce, 82, of 266 Dry Valley Road, died Feb. 6 at Medical Center East in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

ESTELLE HALL

ALEXANDER CITY Funeral service for Estelle Hall will be Monday at 11 a.m. at New Elam No. 1 Baptist Church in Alexander City with the Rev. Paul Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Alexander City.

Ms. Hall died Feb. 4 at Russell Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1926 in Coosa County. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Annie Mae Walker Hall.

She is survived by sisters, Annie Ruth Harris and Dera Mae Benton of Alexander City, Annise Brown of Rockford and Johnnie B. Robinson of Tuskegee; and a host of other relatives.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

HARVEY RUSSELL HERRELL

JACKSONVILLE Harvey Russell Herrell, 52, died Feb. 5 at the Veteran's Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

MATTHEW LEE

TALLADEGA Matthew Lee, 84, of 36 Moore Lane, died Feb. 5 at Talladega Heath Care Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

JOHN W. McKENZIE

TALLADEGA John W. McKenzie, 60, died Feb. 5 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sims Funeral Service.

WILLIE L. GWEN NOBLES

PELL CITY Funeral service for Willie L. Gwen Nobles, 63, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Blooming Light Missionary Baptist Church in Pell City with the Rev. Billy Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Robinson's Chapel Cemetery in Cropwell.

Ms. Nobles died Feb. 1 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She was a lifelong resident of Pell City and was a member of the Blooming Light Baptist Church. She was a member of the senior choir and taught the children's Sunday school class.

She is survived by daughter, Sonya Nobles Hardy of Birmingham; sisters, Nolia Ann McGraw of Pell City and Mary Lois Mabry of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, L.C. Gover and James R. Gover of Pell City; her mother, Bernice Gover of Pell City; and one grandson.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Rest In Peace Funeral Service will direct the service.

JAMES THOMAS RICH

PRATTVILLE Funeral service for James Thomas Rich, 90, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with Joe Davis officiating. Burial will be in Coosa Valley Cemetery.

Mr. Rich died Feb. 6. He was a resident of Prattville, was formerly of Pell City and Oxford and was retired from Southern Railroad after 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Rich of Prattville; son, Douglas Rich of Jacksonville; daughters, Peggy Cherry of Weaver, Janice Rich McDonald of Prattville and Susan Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Sarah Ensley of Cropwell; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.
