MAMIE LAWLER

RIVERSIDE Funeral service for Mamie Lawler, 79, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Burial will be Collins Cemetery.

Mrs. Lawler died Feb. 24 at St. Clair Regional Hospital in Pell City. She was a lifelong resident of Riverside and member of Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Nettie McGraw of Riverside and Eunice Fomby of Gary, Ind., and two brothers, Horace Threatt of Flint, Mi., and Harvey Threatt of Talladega.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Rest in Peace Funeral Services will direct the service.

LULA MAE MARTIN

LEEDS Funeral service for Lula Mae Martin, formerly of Ragland, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Martin died Feb. 28. She is survived by three sons, Colonel E. Martin and his wife, Norma, Carlton N. Martin and his wife, Linda, and Anthony A. Martin; two daughters, Barbara Colley and Mavis Cicotti; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

GEORGE RICHARD McGEE

SYLACAUGA Funeral service for George Richard McGee, 87, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. McGee died Feb. 26. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, where he served as life deacon and Sunday school teacher; a member of the Gideons; and veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Air Force in the South Pacific. He was married for 56 years.

He is survived by his wife, Katie J. McGee of Sylacauga; two sons, Rick McGee and his wife, Wendy, of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Stan McGee and his wife, Diane, of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandsons, Matt McGee and Clay McGee.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Keith Stone Bible Class at the church and Gideons members.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the church, 10 S. Broadway Ave., Sylacauga, Ala., 35150, or the Gideons.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

THOMAS EDWARD MEHERG

SYLACAUGA Funeral service for Thomas Edward Meherg, 62, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Donnie Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Meherg died Feb. 28. He is survived by two sisters, Sue Patterson of Sylacauga and Katherine Davis of Moody, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

CHARLES E. SUMNERS

VINCENT Funeral service for Charles E. Sumners, 80, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Vincent First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lon Cullen and Dr. Ron Sumners officiating. Burial will be Vincent City Cemetery.

Mr. Sumners died Feb. 28. He was a combat photographer during World War II and used pictures from his service in a book he authored titled Dark Visible. He was a member and deacon of Vincent First Baptist Church and retired from Dixie Bronze in Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Floyce Yates Sumners; one daughter, Sherri Sumners; one son, Shane Sumners and his wife, Pheza; two grandsons, Jacob Sumners and his wife, Chrystal, and Brad Sumners; one sister, Ruby Faye Justice; and three brothers, Paul Sumners and his wife, Estelle, Clyde Sumners and his wife, Virginia, and Bob Sumners and his wife, Ann.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

LUCILLE WALKER

ANNISTON Funeral service for Lucille Walker, 82, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at 18th Street Church of God in Christ with Elder Walter E. Sharpe officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Eualton.

Mrs. Walker died Feb. 24 at her residence.

She is survived by two sons, Milton Burt and Willie Cavlin Finley, both of Anniston; two daughters, Wyvetta Finley and Janice Finley, both of Anniston; one sister, Evelyn B. Morris of Anniston; one brother, Sylvester Burt of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ervin Funeral Chapel.

The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Ervin Funeral Chapel will direct the service.

NELLIE R. NEWSOME WARD

CHILDERSBURG Nellie R. Newsome Ward, 75, died Feb. 28 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

BETTY Washington

CHILDERSBURG Betty Washington, 62, died Feb. 26 at Baptist Montclair Medical Center in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

BERTHA L. GROCE CHRISTIAN

TALLADEGA Funeral service for Bertha L. Groce Christian, 80, of 506 Tinney St., will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. B.E. McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Lane Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Christian died March 29 at her residence. She was a lifelong member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Groce Sr. and Maggie Phillips Groce; a son, Edlow Phillips; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Christian of Talladega; daughter, Dorothy Streeter of Talladega; brother, Linsey Groce of Talladega; and one grandchild.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Ingram, Kerry Lawson, Charles Streeter, Byron Wilson and Wayne Wilson.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

ODESSA H. GRAHAM

PELL CITY Funeral service for Odessa H. Graham, 88, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with Brother Joe Lynn Adams officiating.

Mrs. Graham died March 31. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Minnie Lee Hannah; nine brothers; and one sister. She worked at Avondale Mills for 25 years. She was known as "Mama Graham" as she worked in the nursery at First Baptist Church as well as caring for numerous children in her home over the years. She was a member of Stemley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond B. Graham; son, Raymond Graham; daughters, Thelma Whitten and Faye Golden; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

THOMAS C. IRWIN

TUSCALOOSA Memorial service for Thomas C. (Buster) Irwin, 67, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Irwin died March 23 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was a native of Corning, Calif., worked and retired as a tractor trailer driver and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Irwin; and his mother, Elisabeth Irwin.

He is survived by sons, Michael Donaldson of Warrior, Thomas C. Irwin Jr. of Birmingham, William P. Irwin of Georgia, Christopher Irwin of Moody and Shaun Irwin of Leeds; daughter, Robin Parker of Tuscaloosa; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.
