J. WARREN COLLINS

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. Graveside service for J. Warren Collins, 79, was Monday, May 31, at 4 p.m. in Oakdale Cemetery in Hendersonville, N.C., with the Rev. Kenneth "Skip" Fendley officiating. military graveside rites were provided by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post 5206 and DAV Chapter 14.

Mr. Collins died May 29 at Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born in Ellisville, Miss., and was preceded in death by his parents, Theron Ulysses Collins and Maye Hill Collins; and his wife, Annette L. Collins, preceded him in death in 1999. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. His career included owning an automobile dealership in Sylacauga and later a newspaper in Taylorsville, Miss. Upon retiring in 1993, he and his wife, Annette, moved to Hendersonville.

He is survived by sons, J. Warren Collins Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Philip G. Collins of Clinton, Tenn.; daughters, Carolyn Gaither of Winston-Salem, Colleen Holmes of Alexandria, Va., and Collette Clanton of Russellville; brother, Walter O. Collins of Mt. Rest, S.C.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 2395, Hendersonville, N.C., 28793.

Shuler Funeral Home directed the service.

HELEN J. FORD

MUNFORD Funeral service for Helen J. Ford, 83, will be Thursday, June 3, at 1 p.m. at Weaver Church of God in Weaver with the Rev. Harold Payne officiating. Burial will be in Edgemont Cemetery in Anniston.

Mrs. Ford died June 1 at Cleburne County Nursing Home in Heflin. She was a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., and was a resident of Munford. She retired from Oxford Fashions with 25 years of service, was a United States Army World War II veteran, was a member of the Homemakers Club and a member of Weaver Church of God.

She is survived by son, Gerald Ramey and wife Hazel of Munford; grandchildren, Scott Ramey and Cassandra Tillman; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Turner, Nathan Payne, Brian Gilpin, Roger Smith, Marvin Chapman and Jerimiah Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Alemen Free and staff.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.

CECIL FRENCH FLOYD SR.

SYLACAUGA Funeral service for Cecil French Floyd Sr., 63, was Tuesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Freddie Edwards and the Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Floyd died May 31 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a member of The Sanctuary, was founder and owner of Sylacauga Handicap Inc. and was past owner of Floyd and Beasley Transfer Company.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Floyd of Sylacauga; son, Frenchie Floyd and wife Jackie of Sylacauga; daughter, Cheryl McGrady and husband Jeff of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Deven Roland and husband Chris, Candice McGrady, Madison Floyd and Landon Floyd; brother, Harold Floyd of Talladega; and sister, Shelia Burton of Sycamore.

Pallbearers were Jeff Floyd, Mark Payne, Ricky Deason, Mike Bryant, Tom Cox, Johnny Fielding, Bruce Ellis and Edward Cox.

The family will receive flowers or donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 700 Centry Park South, Suite 129, Birmingham, Ala., 35226.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel directed the service.

BETTY CLARICE CRAVEN FRAMES

DELTA Funeral service for Betty Clarice Craven Frames, 56, will be Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church North with the Rev. Ronnie Key, the Rev. Jerry Bolt and the Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Frames died May 30 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. She was a native of Randolph County and had lived most of her life in Clay County. She was a homemaker and had worked at Sewell Manufacturing Company in Heflin for a number of years. She was an active member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church in Cleburne County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Frames.

She is survived by daughters, Lynne Frames and Candi Frames of Delta; sisters, Edna Character of Lineville, Willie Senciboy of Oxford and Ellen Kay of Delta; brothers, Ellis Craven of Oxford, Jim Craven of Jacksonville, C.B. Craven of Roanoke, Sherald Craven of Pensacola, Fla., and Wayne Craven of Hamilton; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Craven, Roger Easterwood, William Character, Byron Clarke, Dusty Craven, Bryan McCormack, Calvin Hill and Willie Bacus.

The Ladies Fellowship Circle of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home until service time Wednesday.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

JOHN BRIAN LOWNES

PELL CITY Graveside service for John Brian (Rooster) Lownes, 62, will be Friday, June 4, at 1 p.m. in Cook Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Murray officiating.

Mr. Lownes died May 31. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Brian Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Lownes; daughters, Beverly Carter, Kathy Siegler and Tobbie Lownes; brothers, Irvin S. Lownes Jr. and Howard Lownes; grandchildren, Carl Carter Jr., Chad Carter, James Siegler II, Krystal Siegler and Joshua Siegler; and great-grandchildren, Luke Carter, Chloe Carter, Bailey Carter and Hunter Jinks.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

NINA M. THOMAS

TALLADEGA Funeral service for Nina M. Thomas, 73, will be Friday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m. at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas died May 31. She was a member of the Southpark Church of God and retired office manager with Dr. Dan Coyle Jr.

She is survived by her husband, W.P. Thomas; daughter, Donna T. Hollander (E.T.) of Hayden; son, Michael Thomas (Kay) of Pleasant Grove; grandchildren, Tony, Shane and Kacy Thomas and Amy and Natalie Hollander; great-grandchildren; Ryan, Michael and Emily; sisters, Doris York, Alta Mae Smith and Barbara Johnson; and brothers, Eugene, Melvin and Dale Johnson.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ridout's Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham will direct the service.

WOODROW CAMPBELL

RAGLAND Funeral service for Woodrow Campbell, 62, will be Thursday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Kendal Bozeman and the Rev. Wayne Brewer officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Campbell died June 1 in Birmingham. He worked for many years in the timber industry.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jane Campbell of Ragland; daughter, Elizabeth Sue Campbell Phillips of Ragland; son, Marvin Dean Campbell (Rena) of Ragland; sister, Betty Barber of Ragland; brothers, Johnny Ray Campbell, Roy Campbell and Troy Campbell of Ragland and Henry Campbell of Lincoln; and grandchildren, John Wesley Campbell, Eric Milton Phillips Jr., Angela Marie Phillips, Randy Thomas Campbell and Jason Ray Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Chapman, Larry Tollison, Derick Campbell and Jimbo Davison.

Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.
