JUANITA ASH WERDEHOFF

SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for Juanita Ash Werdehoff, 77, will be Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. in Branchville Cemetery with the Rev. Charles (Chuck) Willard Ash officiating.

Mrs. Werdehoff died Jan. 17 at her residence. She was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Werdehoff; and daughter, Kathy Muldoon.

She is survived by brothers, James W. Ash and wife Jane of Branchville, Edward A. Ash of Sylacauga and Charles P. Ash and wife Lois of Odenville; sister, Sarah A. Tinney of Sylacauga; stepson, William (Bill) Werdehoff and wife Stephanie of Huntsville; granddaughter, Tonya Bullock of Atlanta, Ga.; stepgrandson, Stephen Werdehoff of Huntsville; stepgranddaughter, Mary Katherine Werdehoff of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

CHUCK WESLEY

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Chuck Wesley, 39, will be Thursday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Ronald Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Wesley died Jan. 16 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wesley.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Wesley of Talladega; sisters, Beverly Hughston of Houston, Texas, and Debra Mattox of Talladega; nieces and nephews, Hope Benadum of Oxford, Shannon Hurst of Birmingham and Matt Hughston of Houston, Texas; five aunts; and four uncles.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Doug McKibbon, Mark Gallahar, Jason Haynes, Billy Wayne Blackmon, Tim Oliver and Mel Kiker.

Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

BARBARA NAN WILKES

SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for Barbara Nan Wilkes, 71, was Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. in Bay Springs Cemetery in Bay Springs, Miss., with the Rev. Keith Bishop officiating.

Mrs. Wilkes died Jan. 15 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jorge Wilkes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, a member of the Silver Tones Choir and the Metallic Club. She was director of the W.M.U., was a fifth grade Sunday school teacher, was on the decorating committee and co-ed Sunday school class.

She is survived by daughters, Suzanne Herrington of Bay Springs, Miss., and Jackie Heckman of Decatur; son, Wesley Wilkes of Sylacauga; special friend, Bloise Zeigler of Sylacauga; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the prison ministry at First Baptist Church, 10 S. Broadway Avenue, Sylacauga, Ala., 35150.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga directed the service.

MICHAEL HALL

PELL CITY — Michael Hall, 54, died Jan. 19 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Lynnis Hall. He was born July 22, 1950. He was formerly employed by General Motors in Detroit, Mich., and later moved to Pell City.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Hall of Pell City; stepchildren, Leon Looney, Derrick Looney and Debra Looney of Pell City; brother, Wendell Hall of Detroit, Mich.; sister, Rosalind Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and uncles.

DR. HUEY ALLEN OWINGS

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Memorial service for Dr. Huey Allen Owings will be Saturday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Toland officiating.

Dr. Owings died Jan. 20 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born in Port Arthur on March 6, 1935. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Owings; his father, Willis B. Owings; brother, Drennon Owings; sister, Gloria Owings Broussard; brother, Tommy Owings; and brother, Bill Owings. He was a lifelong scholar, teaching all over the world including Russia, India, Greece, Saudi Arabia and throughout the United States. He was an author and wrote the English part of the original S.A.T. Test.

He is survived by sisters, Jean Owings Cook of Port Arthur, Thelma Waters of Wilmington, N.C., Linda Owings Foster of Port Neches; son, Michael Owings of Covington, La.; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Southeast Texas Chapter of Texas Federation of the Blind, P.O. Box 1819, Nederland, Texas 77627 (4September 899-4400) or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 W. Parkway, Groves, Texas, 77619, will direct the service.

JOE GAY CAMPBELL JR.

CHICO, Calif. — Graveside service for Joe Gay Campbell Jr., 41, will be Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Ragland with the Rev. Ken Bailey officiating.

Mr. Campbell died Jan. 18. He was a native of St. Clair County and spent the past 20 years in Chico, Calif.

He is survived by sisters, Nancy Robertson of Oneonta and Betty Schall of Ragland; and his grandmother, Edrey Bailey of Gadsden.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John P. Schall, John D. Schall, Billy Smith, Rob Robertson, Tim Robertson and Keith Robertson.

Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

QUINON MARTIN

ANNISTON — Quinon (Big Red) Martin, 27, died Jan. 21.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Home.

TOM W. SMITH JR.

VINCENT — Funeral service for Tom W. Smith Jr., 47, will be Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Ted St. John and the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in Coosa Valley Baptist Cemetery in Pell City.

Mr. Smith died Jan. 21 in Birmingham after a long bout with Wilson’s Disease. He was a member of Evening Star Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith of Vincent; daughter, Stacy Smith of Pelham; his mother, Eva S. Smith of Vincent; sister, Dianna Smith of Vincent; and brother, Lloyd H. Smith of Pell City.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Whitten, Michael M. Teal, Eric Muth, Johnny Calvin, Cabot Canas and James William Brown IV.
