CHARLES AUBREY BULLARD

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Charles Aubrey Bullard, 80, will be Sunday, April 24, at 4 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga. Burial will be in Millerville Baptist Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Bullard died April 22 in Sylacauga. He retired from the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star and various other medals during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Tate Bullard.

He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Morris of Sylacauga and Shirley Ann Foley of Leeds; two granddaughters, Sara Wilson of Sylacauga and Brandy Ritch of Pell City; grandson, Randy Ritch of Leeds; three great-grandchildren, Destiny Ritch of Leeds, Alan Wilson of Sylacauga and Randall Ritch of Leeds; four brothers, Terry Bullard, Howard Bullard, Bobby Bullard and Benny Bullard, all of Sylacauga; and two sisters, Eloise East of New Site and Jimmie Nell Roberson of Nashville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

JOSEPH IRA GALLMAN

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Joseph Ira Gallman, 72, will be Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Tony McGrady and the Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Gallman died April 21 at his residence, surrounded by friends and family. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Joseph Glenn Gallman and Kenneth Ray Gallman. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Roselle Gallman of Sylacauga; son, Mitch Gallman and wife Audry of Sylacauga; daughter, Pamela Barnett and husband Keith of Sylacauga; five sisters, Myrtis Weathers of Equality, Unice Bassett of Sylacauga, Betty Lou Kane of Sylacauga, Bessie Bivin of Fayetteville and Sammie Franklin of Sylacauga; two brothers, Curtis Gallman of Talladega and Otis Gallman of Sylacauga; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

DOROTHY ANN DARK MIXON

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Dorothy Ann Dark Mixon, 62, will be Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Marble City Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. Mrs. Mixon died April 21 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was a member of Marble City Baptist Church where she served as librarian and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was married 17 years and taught at the School of Nursing at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Spencer R. Mixon Jr. of Sylacauga; two sons, John Mark Vincent and wife Patty of Opelika and Timothy Ray Vincent and wife Fran of Sylacauga; daughter, Lisa V. Fuller and husband Butch of Sylacauga; brother, James Winston Blackmon and wife Marilyn of Cold Springs, Texas; and 12 grandchildren. The family will accept flowers or contributions to the library fund at Marble City Baptist Church, 1512 Quarry Road, Sylacauga, Ala., 35151.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Marble City Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lydia Sunday School Class at Marble City Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BILLY RAY ROBINSON

BIRMINGHAM - Funeral service for Billy Ray Robinson, 52, will be Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Tony McGrady officiating. Burial will be in Shelvin Rock Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Robinson died April 22 at Medical Center East in Birmingham. He is survived by his parents, Byron Joe and Edna S. Robinson of Sylacauga; two sisters, Jane McCune and husband Bradd and Jenny R. Usrey and husband Bobby, all of Sylacauga; nephew, Chris McCune of Tuscaloosa; and two nieces, Jennifer McCune Davis and husband Lee of Birmingham and Raylee Page Usrey of Sylacauga. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BOBBY LEON TREACE SR.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Bobby Leon Treace Sr., 71, will be Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Todd Reaves officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum with full military honors.

Mr. Treace died April 21 at Bill Nichols Veterans Retirement Home in Alexander City. He was retired from the United States Air Force and M.J. Brooks and Sons Construction Company.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley H. Treace of Sylacauga; two sons, Bobby Leon Treace Jr. and wife Michelle of Spanish Fort and Timothy Kyle Treace and wife Gina of Lincoln; brother, Billy Wayne Treace of Sylacauga; step-daughter, Carrie Mathews of Pinson; three granddaughters, Alexis Treace, Amber Treace and Ashley Treace; and two grandsons, Michael Treace and Nicholas Treace. MARION H. BASS

PENSACOLA, Fla. Marion H. Bass, 82, Pensacola, Fla., died April 24, 2005 in Atlanta, Ga. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. EST, Tuesday, April 26th at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross, Ga. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. CST, Tuesday, April 26th at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the Auburn University Fund. Born March 18, 1923 in Roanoke, Ala., Mrs. Bass was the daughter of Virginia and Klein Hooper and the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Calvin Stanford of Atlanta.

Mrs. Bass was proceeded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Bass, and by a son, David Bass. She is survived by her sons, Alan Bass (and wife Barbara) of Atlanta, Ga. and Michael (and wife Mary Jane) of Gulf Breeze, Fla. and her grandchildren, Blakely Bass of San Francisco, Cali. and Page Bass of La Spezia, Italy.

Mrs. Bass graduated from Auburn University in 1945 where she met her husband, Tom, a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, also an Auburn graduate. Marion Bass had a quick smile and easy laugh that will be remembered by her friends. The pride of her life were her three sons. She served as a housewife, school teacher, and social welfare worker. After many years in Anniston and Talladega, Tom and Marion moved to Pensacola in 1981. She was a faithful member of the Gadsden Street Methodist Church. She abhorred war, having seen death in WWII, and sought peaceful solutions in the Christian faith. Mrs. Bass, a member of the Daughters of the American the Revolution and Daughters of the Confederacy, contributed to many causes, primarily higher education.

The family offers their sincerest thanks to the staff of Wesley Woods and Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for their superb care of Marion Bass during the final state of Alzheimer's disease. ESTELLE H. BLACKMAN

TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Estelle H. Blackman, 93, will be Wednesday, April 27, at 4pm from the Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Percy and the Rev. Penny Drummond officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Blackman passed away Sunday, April 24, at Talladega Healthcare Center. She was a native of Villa Rica, Georgia but had lived most of her life in Talladega. She was a homemaker and was the oldest living member of Central Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. Blackman and a son, Gary Donald Drummond. She is survived by a daughter, Edna Ruth Sims of Talladega; grandchildren, Mike Freeman, Ray Freeman, Larry Freeman, Rusty Freeman, Sharon Stafford, Gary Drummond Jr., and Lynn Drummond; 13 great - grandchildren; and 2 great - great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Freeman, Larry Freeman, Rusty Freeman and David Stafford. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 26, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. She will lie in state for one hour before the services at the church. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

NELL HYMAN

CHILDERSBURG - Mrs. Nell Hyman, 83, of Childersburg, passed away on April 21 at Coosa Valley Hospital in Sylacauga. Mrs. Hyman was born July 13, 1921 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to the late William and Leta Mae Kinsler.

Mrs. Hyman is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hyman; son, Benney (Connie) Hammond of Childersburg; daughter, Sandra (Kinneth) Stewart of Riverside, Calif., six Grandchildren, eight Great-Grandchildren and four Great-Great Grandchildren. She was loved by all of her family. Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers are in charge of the arrangements.

JIMMIE TUCK

TRUSSVILLE - Funeral Service for Jimmie Tuck, 86, will be Wednesday, April 27 in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Wells and the Rev J. Martin Ray officiating, burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Tuck died Monday April 25. He was a native of Blount County and a member of Trussville First United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband to his wife Mary for 60 years.

He was a member of the Fancy Frees at St. Johns UMC in Roebuck, and a Master Mason in Georgiana Davis Lodge no. 338. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious action in ground combat against the enemy in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations while serving in the US Army during WWII. He loved people, in fact he never met a stranger that he didn't like.

Visitation for friends is Tuesday April 26 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville. Memorial gifts may be in the form of flowers or gifts to Trussville First United Methodist Church.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, James Henry and Sarah Elizabeth (Kerr) Tuck, and four sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Lousie Tuck, sister Muriel Fortson of Gadsden, and a number of nieces and nephews. Jefferson Memorial will direct the service.

AILEEN W. LETCHER

TALLADEGA - Graveside services for Aileen W. Letcher, 90, will be Tuesday, April 26 at 3pm in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Mrs. Letcher died Saturday, April 23 at Citizens BMC. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son Keith Letcher of Canton, Ga.; a sister, Dorothy Chandler of Winston Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Kenneth Letcher of CA; and Jennifer Letcher of Canton, Ga. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-3pm at the funeral home. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MILDRED BLAIR ATKINS

LINCOLN - Mildred Blair Atkins, 86, a native of Birmingham, passed away April 24, 2005, at Mattie's Place in Lincoln, Ala. A teacher in the Mobile Public Schools for 20 years, she was the widow of Stanley W. Atkins, a well-known Alabama newspaperman in Birmingham and Mobile for the Associated Press. Born in Birmingham on January 19, 1919, to Arthur J. and Osa Mae Blair, she was graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1939.

Mrs. Atkins married Stanley Atkins on August 21, 1938. She resided in Mobile for 30 years and was active in the American Lung Association where she established the first organized tuberculosis testing of children in the Mobile Schools. Mrs. Atkins was a very articulate, witty person who enjoyed reading, listening to opera, Broadway and classical music and traveling. She returned to Birmingham in 1991.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley B. Atkins and wife, Marilyn, of Cropwell, AL; James W. Atkins and wife, Sabine, of Flemington, N.J.; one daughter, Christine J. Atkins and husband, Michael Cameron of La Grange, Ill.; one brother, Robert J. Blair of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Atkins and wife, Lisa, of Herndon, Va.; Todd Atkins of San Diego, Cali.; Jennifer Atkins of Washington, D.C.; Blair and Larissa Atkins both of Flemington, N.J.; Claire and Jens Pedersen both of La Grange, Ill.; and two great grandsons, Carter and Joshua Atkins, both of Herndon, Va.

The the Rev. Robert H. Blackwell, Rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Talladega, will conduct a private family memorial service. Talladega Funeral Home is directing. It is suggested that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials be given to the Missionary Fund of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, PO Box 206, Talladega, AL 35161 or Lakeside Hospice, PO Box 544, Pell City, AL 35125.

RUBY C. NELSON

MUNFORD - Graveside Service for Ruby C. Nelson, 75, was Monday at 11:00 A.M., the Rev. Gary Wyatt officiated with burial at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Ruby C. Nelson died Saturday April 23 at her residence. She was a native and livelong resident of Munford.

She is survived by son Eugene Nelson of Munford; sister Clara Coursey of Lincoln; Brother Horace Coursey of Minnesota; grandchildren Lee Nelson and Neil Nelson. Usrey Funeral Home, Talladega, directed the service.

ZERA MAE ROUSE

MUNFORD - Funeral services for Zera Mae Rouse, 81, will be Wednesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Richard Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Munford. Mrs. Rouse died Sunday at Citizens BMC in Talladega. Mrs. Rouse was a resident of Munford most of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Rouse and a daughter Donna Rouse. She is survived by children Bobby Rouse of Talladega; Larry Rouse of Billings, Montana; Rebecca Holston of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; Sheilia Gordon of Crestview, Fla.; and Billie Newberry of Conyers, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. WILLIARD C. SIMS

TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Willard C. Sims, 71, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. R.D. Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Lookout Cemetery in Cherokee County. Mr. Sims passed away Monday at Citizens BMC. Mr. Sims was a native of Cherokee County but had lived many years in Talladega County. He was a member of the Bemiston Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired automobile repairman.

He is survived by daughter Virginia Sims of Talladega; sons Charles Sims Jr. and Barry Sims both of Calhoun County; brothers John Sims of Georgia, Thomas H. Sims of Massachusetts, Edwin Sims of Birmingham, and 6 Grandchildren. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

HORACE FRANKLIN SMITH

TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Horace Franklin Smith, 79, will be Tuesday, April 26, at 2pm at Usrey Chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Doug Hemphill officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Sunday, April 24 at his residence. He was native of Chambers County, but lived in Talladega most of his life. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Formerly a member and elder of Southwood Presbyterian Church. A member of Masonic Lodge 261. He worked for 28 years with Kockums Industries and later retired from Anniston Army Depot after 8 years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Keith Smith of Talladega; daughters, Sonya S. Holt of Leeds, and Kandis S. Mills of Pell City; a granddaughter, Falon Lashea Patterson; and grandsons, M. Thomas Haywood II and J. Kale Haywood.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Keith, Jeff Keith, Rickey Lawson, Byron Lackey, Rodney Keith and Mike Gee. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Melton, Gene Harris, Joe Wayne Ingram, Bob Miller, Rex Morrison, Donald Brannon, Clardy Noel, Tom Kulk and Terry Stringfellow. The family will accept flowers or donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Talladega. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

DORA RUTH STRICKLAND

SYLACAUGA - Funeral services for Dora Ruth Strickland, 89, will be Tuesday, April 26, at 2pm at First Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Marble City Cemetery. Mrs. Strickland died Sunday, April 24 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Strickland; and children, Eddie Ruth Strickland and Shelton Strickland. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Sylacauga.

She is survived by a son, Bobby Lee Strickland and wife, Gayle of Melbourne, Fla.; daughters, Betty Merkel and husband, Robert of Sylacauga, Jeanette Davis of Sylacauga, Judy Moody of Stone Mountain, Ga., Glenda Dobson and husband, Perry of Sylacauga; sisters, Era Ashcraft and Reba Ashcraft both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great - grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Chappell, Kevin Chappell, Jack Duffee, Charlie Duncan, Roy Green and Gary Walton. The family will accept flowers or donations to First Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, or the Arc of South Talladega County. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

HANOVER - Ronnie Thomas, 46, of Route 2 Box 111 B, died April 24 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.
