WILLIE M. Jones BATTLE

CHILDERSBURG Funeral service for Willie M. Jones Battle, 89, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tallassahatchie Baptist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Fred Jemison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Battle died May 29 at Briarcliff Nursing Facility in Alabaster. She was a member of Tallassahatchie Baptist Church, a former member of the senior choir and a member of the kitchen committee. She was a member of Cheerful Giving Society No. 1

She is survived by six daughters, Mary Elizabeth Battle and Rosa Wesley of Childersburg, Carrie Bell Coleman of Sylacauga, Jessie Battle of Fayetteville, Bettye Calhoun of Alpine and Essie Madson of Birmingham; six sons, Herbert Battle, Dave Battle and Pearly Battle of Childersburg, Earley Battle of Sylacauga, Ocie Battle of Birmingham and Robert Charles Battle of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Margaret Garrett of Gadsden; one brother, Paul Jones of New York, N.Y.; 52 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, four great-great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

BERCHA ELIZABETH HANNER

TALLADEGA Funeral service for Bercha Elizabeth Hanner, 84, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Curtis Kelley and the Rev. Allen Layton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hanner died May 30 at Talladega Health Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Beamon C. Hanner.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Chappell of Talladega; one son, Charles H. Hanner of Talladega; two sisters, Lucynda McDowell and Vaunell Buford of Talladega; one brother, John T. Williams of Alpine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Williams, Rodney Keith, Jeremy Sewell, Rob Clardy, Terry Hanner and Bobby Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Byron McDowell, Venyard Williams, Bob Hurst and Herbert Miller.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

ANNIE PEARL HURST

TALLADEGA Funeral service for Annie Pearl Hurst, 85, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bill Huffaker and Dr. Randy Hagan officiating. Burial will be in Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hurst died May 29 at Talladega Health Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega and was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a former member of Renfroe Homemakers Club and the Talladega Rhythm Band. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, friends and family. She was the first woman to join the Talladega County Sheriff's Reserve and retired as a lieutenant after 17 years. She worked at all the races and at the jail on Sundays during visitation times. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Hurst; a daughter, Marie Stoffregen Farler; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Hardin; a sister, Lois Thackerson; a brother, James Hardin; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Nicholas Couch and one grandson, Brad Rogers.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha McCain and husband Sonny and Carolyn Horn and husband Billy, all of Talladega; one son, James Larry Hurst and wife Rhonda of Clanton; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hurst, Richard Fulmer, Bo Cook, Travis Ford, Charles Bonner, Jerry Studdard, Jeff Dill and Jason Horn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny McCain, Billy Horn, Lewis Horn and former members of Talladega County Sheriff's Reserve, Northstar Paramedics and Talladega Rhythm Band.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. and at the home of Marsha McCain.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARTHA GAY TAYLOR ODOM

MONTGOMERY, Texas Funeral service for Martha Gay Taylor Odom, 61, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Talladega Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Odom died May 28 at her residence. She graduated from B.B. Comer High School in 1959 and had many jobs before she found she had an interest in accounting. She attended college and received her associate degree in accounting. She was employed by Bethyl Laboratory in Montgomery, Texas, for 24 years until her illness. Martha was a good wife and mother and was liked by many. She always found good in everyone she met. She will be missed by all who knew her. She will not hurt anymore, all of her pain has been taken away. She is with her Father in heaven now. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ollie Taylor, and a brother, Bobby Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Earle Odom of Montgomery, Texas; one son, Terry Don Odom and wife Marylyn Odom of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Melinda Lynn Young and husband John Young of Wallkill, N.Y.; grandchildren, Aaron Young, Matthew Young, Ashley Odom, Heather Odom, Michael Odom and Karen Odom; three brothers, Billie Taylor and wife Georgia Taylor of Sylacauga, Truman Taylor and wife Shirley Taylor of Anniston and Wayne Taylor and wife Jo Taylor of Sylacauga; and three sisters, Vaudie (Trudy) Palmer and husband Lloyd Palmer of Birmingham, Faye Cook of Sylacauga and Katherine (Kat) Griffin and husband Pete Griffin of Lincoln.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

JUNIOR BAKER

LINEVILLE Funeral service for Junior Baker, 72, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bill Heath and the Rev. Joe Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Baker died May 29 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Randolph County and had lived most of his life in Clay County. He had been employed aby Chickipeak Manufacturing Company and was a member of Faith Assembly of God.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Lou Baker of Lineville; one daughter, Dorothy Tapley of Barfield; four sons, Junior Ray Baker of Lineville, Danny Baker of Ashland, William Baker of Valley and Jerry Baker of Barfield; two sisters, Essie Triplett of Lineville and Eula Mae Heath of Ashland; one brother, Hubert Baker of LaGrange, Ga.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Baker, Jeremy Edmondson, Terry Triplett, Vernon Huddleston, Ronnie McCormick, Junior Morrison and David Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Overton, David Tapley and DeWayne Tapley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 9 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

JULIUS BROWN

ROCKFORD Julius Brown died May 29 at Brown Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

JUNE H. DOBSON

SYLACAUGA Funeral service for June H. Dobson, 60, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Andrews Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Clark officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Methodist Cemetery.

Mrs. Dobson died May 29 at University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. She was a member of Andrews Chapel Methodist Church in Hanover, was employed by Avondale Mills in Rockford for 30 years and was a native of Coosa County.

She is survived by her husband, Archie Dobson of Sylacauga; two daughters, Lisa McEwen and husband Chuck McEwen of Rockford and Lori Manning and husband David Manning of Fayetteville; one son, Scott Dobson and wife Lisa Dobson of Weogufka; her mother, Ann McDonald of Prattville; one sister, Joan Roberts of Prattville; granddaughters, Alane McEwen and Allie McEwen and grandson, Sam Manning.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Schwind, Robert Schmidt, Toney Cooksey, Doug Hamby, Tim Torgerson, Cisco Jerry King, Johnny Guy, Bill Reynolds, Gene Pody, Mickey Nickens and Rickey Nickens.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Andrews Chapel Methodist Church.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

WILLIAM ARGUS FREEMAN

WADLEY Funeral service for William Argus Freeman, 69, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Lineville with the Rev. Zenus Windsor, the Rev. Bill Huffman and the Rev. Abi Carlisle-Wilke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Freeman died May 29 at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke. He was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County, was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He was self-employed and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Freeman of Wadley; one daughter, Darlene Adamson of Wadley; one granddaughter; and one sister, Loretta Erwin of Wedowee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home until service time.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

COY ROBERT GOLDEN

WACO, Ky. Funeral service for Coy Robert Golden, 42, formerly of Pell City, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Terry Tibbs and the Rev. John Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery in Springville.

Mr. Golden died May 29 in Lexington, Ky. He was a native of Pell City and lived in Springville most of his life. He had lived in Waco, Ky., for the past two years, served two terms with the Army National Guard and attended the Church of the Nazarene in Raveena, Ky. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Robert Golden, and a sister, Lori Ann Golden.

He is survived by his wife, Leana Golden of Waco, Ky.; one daughter, Tiffany McKean of Collinsville, Miss.; his mother, Geraldine Sherbert of Picayne, Miss.; his stepfather, Horace Sherbert; two sisters, Katherine Poupart and Charlene Golden of Picayne, Miss.; two stepsisters, Tammy Tate and Blenda Murray of Picayne, Miss.; and three brothers, Tommy Golden of Picayne, Miss., Jeffrey Golden of Springville and Roy Golden of Picayne, Miss.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

JAMES EARL GREEN

SYCAMORE Funeral service for James Earl Green, 52, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Community Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Stan Gaddis officiating. Burial will be in Harper Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Green died May 27.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Pearl Green of New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Cassandra Coleman of Talladega and Sheila Jessemy of New Orleans, La.; one son, Jamie Green of Detroit, Mich.; his mother, Elizabeth Cook of Sycamore; eight sisters, Lois Banks, Minnie Green, Earlene Chatman, Diane Gaddis, Olivia Cook, Lola Booker, Ethelene Ashley and Levola Cook of Sycamore; two brothers, Willie Cook of Sycamore and James Calvin Cook of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

The family will receive friends Friday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.
