DUSTIN P. AMIS

LINEVILLE Funeral service for Dustin P. Amis, 26, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Christianna Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Amis died Sept. 23 at his residence. He was a native of Savannah, Ga., was a former resident of Atlanta, Newnan and Union City, Ga., and had lived in Randolph County since 1995. He graduated from Union City High School in Union City, Ga., worked as a painter and was a member of Christianna Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Destin Cole Amis of Lineville; his mother and stepfather, Vicki and Charles Olmstead of Lineville; one sister, Misty Edwards of Wedowee; one stepsister, Amy Sprayberry of Heflin; one brother, Chris Johnson of Newnan, Ga.; one stepbrother, Bubba Olmstead of LaGrange, Ga.; his grandmother, Lillian Olmstead of Luthersville, Ga.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Adam Bryant, Adam Terrell, Lamar Bell, Mathew Phillips, Terry Daughtery, Steven Horn, Robert Lindsey, Mac Brown and Joseph Coke.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home until one hour before the service.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

TOM COLLIER

LINEVILLE Funeral service for Tom Collier, 79, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Delta Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. Harris and Eldered Summerlin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Collier died Sept. 25 at Lineville Nursing Facility. He was a native of Cleburne County. He had lived in several states, including Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, pursuing his career as a self-employed roofer. He returned to the Cleburne County and Clay County areas in 1968, where he continued his roofing business. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by a son, Barry Collier of Altoona; three stepdaughters, Pam Spradlin of Birmingham, Anita Daugherty of Trussville and Belinda Helms of Jemison; one stepson, Ken Nix of Altoona; and a sister, Hattie Daugherty of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Mike Summerlin, Eldered Summerlin, Dale Daugherty, Charles Morrison, Alton Hunkapiller and L.S. Teel.

The body may be viewed at the church for 2 hours before the service.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

BOBBY C. FITZSIMMONS SR.

BIRMINGHAM Graveside service for Bobby C. Fitzsimmons Sr., 65, will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jody Baker officiating.

Mr. Fitzsimmons died Sept. 25. He was a member of Irondale Baptist Church, was a past Shriner and a graduate of B.B. Comer High School, where he was captain of three sports. He was an avid cook and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter E. and Ruby Fitzsimmons; and a sister, Betty Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie C. Fitzsimmons; sister, Virginia Fitzsimmons; brother-in-law, Billy Martin; daughter, Bea Crowder and husband Gary; son, Bobby Fitzsimmons Jr.; grandchildren, Brooke Fitzsimmons, Kristen Ware, Auburn Hedgpeth, Blakely Fitzsimmons and Blake Fitzsimmons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

John's Ridouts Elmwood Chapel will direct the service.

WATIS A. JACKSON

ASHVILLE Funeral service for Watis A. (Fay) Jackson, 82, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Max Jackson and the Rev. Tony Layton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jackson died Sept. 25 at his residence. He was a native of Ashville, where he lived most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Republic Steel with 37 years of service. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, assistant Sunday school teacher, treasurer and church clerk. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristy Gay Ledlow.

He is survived by his wife, Onzelle Gray Gilbert Jackson of Ashville; two daughters, Sandra Joyce Jackson and Wanda Jackson Ledlow of Ashville; two sisters, Elsie Mae Layton of Riverside, Ga., and Mary Janell Taylor of Ashville; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

EVELYN JONES

GOODWATER Evelyn Jones died Sept. 24 at Coosa Valley BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Armour's Memorial Funeral Home.

DONALD KNOTTS

CROPWELL Memorial service for Donald (Red) Knotts, 53, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. James Blair officiating.

Mr. Knotts died Sept. 23. He served in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion for 20 years and was a member of the Moose Lodge Organization for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Knotts of Cropwell; two sons, Don Knotts Jr. and wife Laura of St. Louis, Mo., and Jefferey Knotts of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Jennifer Knotts of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Aaron and Isaiah Knotts; his parents, William R. Sr. and Pearl Knotts of Dover, Del.; two brothers, William R. Knotts Jr. and wife Bobbi of Dover, Dela., and Walter Knotts and wife Avis of Kenton, Del.; in-laws and close friends, John Holden and wife Carol of Stuart, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CHARLES H. MINTER

LINEVILLE Funeral service for Charles H. Minter, 69, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Lineville with John David Parker and Andrew Dressler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Minter died Sept. 24 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was a Korean War veteran and was a lineman with Local 136 for more than 43 years. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Edger and Audie Price Minter; and one brother, Paul Minter.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dandridge Minter of Lineville; sons, Terry Minter of Lineville and Robert L. Engstrom of Alexander City; one brother, Byron Minter of Oxford; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ken Minter, Michael Engstrom, Kevin Minter, Kevin Engstrom, Shon Dukes and Tim Pilkington.

The staff of Bill Nichols Veterans Home will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:30 until 8 p.m. and until service time Friday.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

CASSANDRA ALLEN O'NEAL

RIVERSIDE Cassandra Allen O'Neal, 46, of 1633 Depot St., died Sept. 24.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

CLEMENTINE STEELE

KENT Clementine Steele died Sept. 24 at Community Hospital in Tallassee.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Armour's Memorial Funeral Home.

ISHMEL CHARLES TARPLEY

MONTGOMERY Graveside service for Ishmel Charles Tarpley, 77, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga with the Rev. Timothy Trent officiating.

Mr. Tarpley died Sept. 23. He was a former resident of Sylacauga. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Robbie I. Tarpley; and five brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one son, Tony and wife Cathy S. Tarpley of Sylacauga; one daughter, Mrs. Libby T. and husband Audie Gregg Jr. of Montgomery; his grandchildren, Kellie Gregg of St. Louis, Mo., Ryan Tarpley and Todd Tarpley of Sylacauga; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Alabama, 3125 Independence Drive, Suite 325, Birmingham, Ala., 35209.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel in Sylacauga.

Brooks-Cargile Funeral Home and Curtis and Son Funeral Home will direct the service.

LEWIS TURNER

TALLADEGA Lewis Turner, 87, died Sept. 25 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

LADETERIC WRIGHT

TALLADEGA Ladeteric Wright, 24, of 64 Sunrise Apartments, died Sept. 25 at University Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.
