Lois Rudd Peppers

1907-2003

Funeral services for Lois "Mama Pepp" Rudd Peppers, 96, of Alexander City will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2003.

Mrs. Peppers died June 15, 2003, at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1907, in Pike County to Robert Oscar Rudd and Lilly Holmes Rudd. She was a homemaker and a member of Orr Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Eloise P. Fuller of Alexander City; one son, Jim E. Peppers of Vancouver, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James E. Peppers; one son, Max Peppers and one daughter, Faye Peppers.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Russell Medical Center Hospice, 3368 Hwy. 280, Suite G10, Alexander City, Ala., 35010.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Simmie D. Hall

1933-2003

Funeral services for Simmie D. Hall of Goodwater will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Saint James Methodist Church in Goodwater. The Rev. Raymond Angel will officiate. Burial will follow at Macedonia Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Mr. Hall died June 13, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. He was born March 4, 1933, to Sim and Marcell William Hall in Coosa County.

He is survived by his wife, Clemmie "Kiss" Hall of Goodwater; one son, Simmie A. Hall of Goodwater; four daughters, Penny Hall and husband Nathan, Gale Hall, Stacie Hall and Bridget Hall, all of Goodwater; one sister, Mammie Hall of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Eddie Hall and wife Helen of Goodwater; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wiley A. Bell Jr.

1951-2003

Funeral services for Wiley A. Bell Jr. of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Cedar Street Church of God. The Rev. Ralph Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Armour Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Mr. Bell died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Tuscaloosa. He was born Sept. 12, 1951, to Wiley W. Sr. and Mary Alice Newton Bell in Jefferson County.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Marie Bell of Tuscaloosa; his father, Wiley W. Bell Sr.; his mother, Mary Alice Bell; two sisters, Edith Bell Pritchett and husband Theodore of Ashville, N.C. and Vivian Bell of Austin, Texas; one brother, Lawrence Bell and wife Jacqueline of Austin, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Street Church of God Kidney Foundation in the name of Newton Ponderosa.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elma Louneal Gregg

1923-2003

Funeral services for Elma Louneal Gregg, 79, of Franklin, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Sid Shelnutt, Frank Sledge, Bill Bryant and Carlton Rivers will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2003.

Mrs. Gregg died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at LaGrange Hospice. She was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Wadley to Lewis and Alma Rice. She was a homemaker and member of Dunson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, the Rev. C.W. Gregg of Franklin, Ga.; two sons, DeVaughn Gregg and Billy Gregg, both of LaGrange, Ga.; two daughters, Vera Sue Mulkey and husband Harold of LaGrange, Ga., and Ruth Gregg of Franklin, Ga.,; four grandsons, Shawn Gregg, Aaron Gregg, Dustin Mulkey and Wesley Mulkey and wife Amanda, all of LaGrange, Ga.; three brothers, L.V. Rice and wife Clara of Wadley, Cordell Rice and wife Avis of Valley, Warren Rice and wife Jean of Opelika; two sisters, Carolyn Moody of Alexander City and Kay Rudd and husband Bennie of Opelika and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John E. Johnson

June 15, 2003

John E. Johnson of Goodwater died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Sylacauga Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Armour's Memorial Funeral Home.

Raymond Pogue

1913-2003

Funeral services for Raymond Pogue, 90, of Jackson's Gap will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at New Adka Baptist Church in Dadeville. The Rev. Kenny Ransaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Camp Hill.

Mr. Pogue died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at his residence. He was born Jan. 5, 1913, in Tallapoosa County. He was a member of New Adka Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by one daughter, Bernadette Burns of Jackson's Gap; a special sister-in-law, Alma Staples Pogue of Camp Hill; two granddaughters, Cheryl Ransaw and husband Kenny of Alexander City and LaJarus Moon and wife Charlie of Dadeville; one grandson, William Burns of Jackson's Gap; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Trenae Copeland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Vines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Michael Sullivan

1939-2003

Funeral services for Paul Michael "Yank" Sullivan, 64, of Alexander City will be Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Alexander City. Fr. Robert Stone and Fr. Walter Menig will concelebrate and Rev. Mr. James Macey will serve as deacon of the mass. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was on Friday, July 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral mass today.
