Jean B. Wainright
THORSBY – Funeral services for Mrs. Jean B. Wainright, age 71, were held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Wray officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery.
She was born December 17, 1934 and passed away on Wednesday, May 3rd at Shelby Baptist Hospital in Alabaster. She was a secretary, housewife and a wonderful mother.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Grady Wainright of Thorsby; one son, H.G. (Bud) Wainright of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Patricia Jean Finney of Jemison; two grandchildren, Maris Bush and Daniel Wainright; Christopher and Savannah Jane (Janie) Finney; three brothers, S. T. Gilbert of Florence, SC; Robert Gilbert of Lutcher, LA; Buck Gilbert of Villarica, GA; and one sister, Nita Mosley of Colorado Springs, CO.
Pallbearers were Lucian Webb, Bill Donald, Daniel Wainright, Chris Finney, Charlie Wainright, and Ray Doggette.
Bumpers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements

Eva Edna O'Field Brooks
WARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Edna O'Field Brooks, age 94, were held on Saturday, May 6th from St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Pettis Lockett and Rev. Willie Ed Brooks officiating. Interment followed in the St. John Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
She was born to the late Lizzie Allen and Ed O'Field on November 11, 1911. She passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Rush Hospital.
She is survived by Jesse (Elnora) and Willie Ed both of Detroit, MI; Jobe, Laurel, MS; Lee James (Rochelle), New York; Ceazer (Georgia) Yantley; David (Bonnie) of Butler; Willie George (Ruby), New Madrid, MO; Edna, Yantley, and Theresa (Paul) of Woonsocket, RI; Larry (Lucretia) Woonsocket; Bessie L. Ausbrooks; 35 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 27 great- great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her husband and two children preceded her death.
Pallbearers were nephews and Flower Bearers were her grandchildren.
Hayden and Butler Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Conway Bush
CHICAGO, IL - Funeral services for Mr. Conway Bush, age 81, were held on Wednesday, May 3rd from the Millwood P. B. Church in Pennington with Pastor Marvin Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
He was born December 2, 1924 and he passed away on, Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Willow Trace Nursing Center.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Bush, Chicago, IL; mother, Annie Bush White, Pennington; daughter, Crystal Bush, Chicago; three grandchildren, Anita Haze, Brooklyn, NY; Chivia Bush, Bessemer; and Cedric Bush, Chicago; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Clarke, Brooklyn, NY; and Sheara Bush, Bessemer; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family. His grandchild, Sharon Clarke; father, stepfather, Mr. Sylvester and brother, A.G. White preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were family and friends. Flower Bearers were church members and friends.
Butler and Hayden Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.

Judy Hester Broadhead
NEEDHAM Funeral services for Judy Hester Broadhead, 70, were held on April 29, 2006 from the Freeman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Franklin McClellan officiating. Interment followed in the North Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Broadhead was born March 30, 1936. She passed away on, April 26th at Jeff Anderson Hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Larry L. Hester of Simi Valley; Mark (Lori) Hester of Millry; one daughter, Lisa (Tom) Williams of Millry; one brother, Wallace J. Armstrong of Millry; one sister, Edith Mae Heridry of Millry; six grandchildren, Justin Williams, Josh Williams, Derrick Hester, Margo Hester, Heather Hester, and Tyler Hester.
Freeman Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Ruth Graham
BUTLER - Funeral services for Mary Ruth Graham, 71, were held on May 1, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Butler with Rev. J.D. Weed, Rev. Bobby Shipp, and Rev. Russell Wray officiating. Interment followed in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Graham was born on October 16, 1934. She passed away on Saturday, April 29th at Riley Memorial Hospital. She was a retired teacher at both the former Butler Elementary School and Patrician Academy.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Graham of Butler; one son, Johnny Graham (Donette) of Butler; one daughter, Rebecca Davis (Rick) of Butler; five grandchildren, John Graham, Alex Graham, Reed Graham, Rhyann Davis and Reanna Davis.
Pallbearers were Alex Graham, John Graham, Rick Davis, Roland Davis, Allen Miller, and Johnny Watson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Roy Cowan, Charles Norwood, J. T. Littlepage, Jimmy Adams, John Boney, David Fendley, Gene Cooper, Jack Cleary, Elvin Shephard, Neal Hollister, W. M. Beddingfield, Ray Bishop, Lamar Bailey, Gene Marshall, Murray Gibson, John Patton Utsey, Dempsey Broadhead, and Ezell Whittington.
Bumpers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Genell Cherry Graham
LISMAN — Services for Genell “Nell” Cherry Graham, 68, were held on April 19, 2008 at Gilfield Baptist Church, with Bishop Curtis Dubose officiating. Interment followed at Little Hope Cemetery.
Ms. Graham passed away on April 13 at Riley Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by seven children, Ronnie (Gloria) Graham of Butler, Ronald (Sonya) Graham of Birmingham, Sharon Graham of Lisman, Dougalas (Gina) Graham of Silas, Steve (Sonya) Graham of Washington, DC, Teresa Graham of Bessemer, and Tony (Shemetria) Graham of Meridian; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Hattie Taylor of Chicago and Bessie Lott of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Bob Cherry of Chicago; aunt, Waddie Ruffin of Butler; uncle J.H. Crowell of Butler; and a host of other family members and friends.
Three children preceded her in death, Mary Lois Cherry, Steve Graham, Shirley C. Franklin.
Hayden & Butler Funeral Home was in charge of the final arrangements.

Gayle Cottingham
CHARLOTTE, NC — Gayle Aleatha Vines, 44, passed away on April 11, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Gayle was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Cottingham; two sons, Myles and MacKenzie; her parents, James and Katie Vines, of Butler; a brother, Kennedy (Deborah) Vines; her mother-in-law, Lula Horton; father-in-law, Ed Horton; and a host of other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Mary Vines, Lee Major Harris and Ida H. White.
Pallbearers were the Ushers of Victory Christian Center. Flower bearers were the Ladies of Victory Christian Center.
Long & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Audrey McLaughlin Chesnut
SILAS – Services for Audrey McLaughlin Chesnut, 81, were held April 30, 2008 at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Campbell and Rev. Russell Wray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Chesnut was a native and long-time resident of Silas before moving to Tuscaloosa last year to be nearer to her family.
She died April 27th at Druid City Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Chesnut was a strong supporter of a variety of community improvement projects in Choctaw County. She spearheaded a move through the Ladies Auxiliary of the Silas Volunteer Fire Department to improve Bladon Springs State Park, and for several years was the coordinator of annual spring and fall festivals designed to call attention to the park and its historic mineral springs.
She worked tirelessly through the Auxiliary to promote and improve the Fire Department, and donated several historic artifacts from the early days of Silas and Bladon Springs to the Choctaw Co. Historical Museum at Gilbertown.
In 1991, she was chosen as “Citizen of the Year” by the Choctaw Co. Chamber of Commerce, and later, in 2001, received similar honors from the Town of Silas.
She was an active member of Black Creek Baptist Church where she had worked to help with Vacation Bible Schools, and to organize yard sales to raise money for the new wing to the church which was added in 2003.
During her senior year at Southern Choctaw High School, Mrs. Chesnut was the editor of the school’s professionally-published student newspaper, The Revelator.
She was remembered as a loving, compassionate person who would do anything in her power to help anyone in need.
Mrs. Chesnut is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Chesnut Singley (husband, Jimmy), of Tuscaloosa; her son, Powe Chesnut (wife, Sam), of Columbus, MS; six grandchildren, Melissa Lawrence (husband, Russell), John Singley (wife, Shay), Julie Grogan (husband, Rickey), Kineta Gillot (husband, David), Kerry Chesnut, Kimberly Stover, (husband, Jarrod); 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn Adams (husband, Grady); nieces Charlotte Harvison (husband, Doyle) and Christie Freda (husband, Carl), and nephew Scott Crocker (wife, Renae).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Oliver Chesnut; her parents, Mitford McLaughlin and Louise McLaughlin Taylor; and an infant daughter, Patsy.
Pallbearers were John Singley, Russell Lawrence, Rickey Grogan, Russ Lawrence, Luke Lawrence, and Justin Harvison.
Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Walsh, Cecil Taylor, Jim Taylor, Hamilton Chesnut, John and Margaret Taylor, Bill and Ann Dooley, Hugh and Linda Pinkerton, Grady Adams, Malcom Utsey, James Utsey, Bessie Hill, Norris Hill, Esther Singley, J.L. Philon, Wendylon Osborne, and members of the Silas Volunteer Fire Department.
Bumpers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bobby Ray Todd
BUTLER — Services for Bobby Ray Todd, 72, were held on April 27, 2008 at Bumpers Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Kennedy, Rev. Jon Brown, and Rev. Truman Todd, officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Todd passed away on April 25 at Willow Trace Nursing Center. He was a self-employed pulpwood logger.
He is survived by his wife, Louise S. Todd of Butler; one daughter, Debbie (Clarence) Jimerson of Gilbertown; five brothers, James Todd of Ward, Donald Todd of Butler, Paul Todd, Jr. of Butler, Gaines Todd of Butler, and Henry Todd of TN; one sister, Jessie Todd Wright of Butler; one grandchild, Gary (Jessica) Lee of Butler; and one great grandchild, Matilyn Lee.
Pallbearers were Travis Todd, Daniel Todd, Gaines Todd, J.D. Todd, Andy Long, and Jerry Quinnelly.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Locke and Reed Cameron.
Bumpers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
