Robert Vandiver

Funeral services for Robert Vandiver, 69, of Arley will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at Nichols Funeral Chapel, with Burial in Kemp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vandiver died Sunday, Oct. 5 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, L.V. Vandiver of Arley; a daughter, Liz Dutton of Moulton; a son, Terry Vandiver of Arley; two sisters, Josephine Garrison of Florida and Iva Jean Smith of Ohio; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Bernard Lee Cammon

Funeral services for Bernard Lee Cammon, 83, of Saraland, formerly of Cullman, were Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Radney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cammon died Saturday, Sept. 27 at his home. He served his country during World War II in the 406th Infantry Regiment during the Battle of the Bulge, for which he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with two bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He retired from Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile after 25 years of service and from Teledyne Continental Motors after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Deep South Antique Car Club and a member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jenette Persall and John Robert Cammon.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geneva Bryant Cammon; two sons, Jerry (Pam) Cammon and Ronnie (Janice) Cammon; a daughter, Donna (Steve) Perkins; eight grandchildren, Lisa (George) West, Lee (Dee Dee) Cammon, Tina (Eric) Richardson, Lance Corporal Kyle Perkins (USMC), Nathan Perkins, Kaycie Perkins, Wendy (Dwight) Lacy and Cindy (Jed) Fulford; 10 great-grandchildren; PV2 Jonathon West, Joshua West, Blaine Cammon, Baleigh Cammon, Zachary Richardson, Zoe Richardson, Tyler Bridges, Jacob Fulford, Sam Fulford and Caleb Fulford; his stepmother, Ellen Cammon; two sisters, Jo (Herb) Schaffer and Geraldine (Dee) Holloway; three brothers, William E. (Eloise) Cammon, Kenneth (Martha) Cammon and Eugene (Michelle) Cammon.

Annie Murphree McGriff

Funeral services for Annie Murphree McGriff, 94, of Holly Pond will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at Holly Pond Funeral Home, the Revs. Hughlen Murphree and Herman Lambert officiating, with Burial in Union Grove Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McGriff died Monday, Oct. 6 at Beverly Health Care in Arab. She was born Sept. 9, 1909 in Cullman County. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert McGriff; her parents, J.E. and Margaret McAlpine Murphree; three sons, James Millard McGriff, Willard McGriff and Dwight McGriff; all her brothers; and one sister, Zelda Grisby.

Survivors include a son, Dal (Pauline) McGriff of Blountsville; four daughters, Willene (Glenn) Clark of Arab, Velma (Dan) Armstrong of Remlap, Joyce (Bobby) Love of Holly Pond and Janice (Keith) Hicks of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters-in-law, Zelda Grisby McGriff and Mary Moon McGriff; three sisters, Hazel Garmon, Tempie Elmore and Shelia Murray; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Barbara Louise Kashuba

Funeral services for Barbara Louise Kashuba, 42, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Frank Wood officiating, with Burial in Cullman Heritage Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kashuba died Monday, Oct. 6 at UAB Hospital. She was born June 8, 1961 in Jefferson County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Butler and Dora Wills; her brother, Arthur Gary Butler; and her sister, Cynthia Ann Butler.

Survivors include her husband, James Kashuba of Cullman; a son, Anthony Kashuba of Cullman; two daughters, Heather (Scott Thrasher) Kashuba and Jessica Kashuba of Cullman; four brothers, Eugene, Richard, Ronnie and Ralph Jolly; six sisters, Taffy Cone, Gloria Benson, Sue Tolbert, Tammy Key, Nancy Bailey and Brandy Ashley; four grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Joshua Thrasher, Alexandra Thrasher and Anna Dean Fuller; and best friend, Cathy Burson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Marie Mitchell

Funeral services for Marie Mitchell, 70, of Texas, formerly of Cullman, are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell died Saturday, Oct. 4 at Herman Hospital in Texas.

Ola Burgess

Funeral services for Ola Burgess, 91, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with Burial in Emeus Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burgess died Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1912 to Ruben William and Mattie Mae Lindsey Peek. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Wayne Burgess of Buffalo, N.Y. and Ronald Royce Burgess of West Seneca, N.Y.; two daughters, Carol Bailey and Nona Grey Szilagyi, both of Cullman; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ola Mae Thomas

Funeral services for Ola Mae Thomas, 81, of Holly Pond will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at Blountsvile Funeral Chapel, Drennen Alldredge officiating, with Burial in New Lebanon Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Beverly Health Care in Oneonta. She was born in Blount County to Milphred and Annie Eudy Woods. She was a homemaker and a member of Holly Pond Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson H. Thomas; and her parents.

Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Thomas of Holly Pond, Donnie Thomas of Blountsville and David Thomas of Russville; five daughters, Shirley Baker of Pinson, Gearldean Farr of Cullman, Mary Gossett, Carol Thomas and Pat Bradford, all of Blountsville; a brother, Jack Woods of Cullman; three sisters, Albie Wren of Cullman, Pauline Smith of Blountsville and Beverly Garrett of Marietta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jerice V. Brookes

Funeral services for Jerice V. Brookes, 83, of Ninevah, N.Y. will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Chapel, with Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home of Harpursville, N.Y. is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brookes died Sunday, Oct. 5 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in New York. She was a retired employee of Seven Keys Co. in Florida and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Warren Center, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Brookes, two sons, George G. and Richard Brookes; and an infant son.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorine Reeves of Vinemont; a son, Kenneth (Beverly) Brookes of Nineveh, N.Y. with whom she made her home; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Christina Wandell of Choconut Center, N.Y.; three half-brothers, Henry Van Dusen of N.J., Harvey Van Dusen of Florida and Arthur Van Dusen of Washington; and a cousin, Marjorie DeBellis of Hawleyton, N.Y.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Fern Long Welsh

Fern Long Welsh, 98, of Holly Pond, formerly of Largo, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at Hanceville Nursing Center.

Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home is notifying.

Mrs. Welsh was born in Weyers Cave, Va. She was a former employee of Largo High School cafeteria. She was a member of Navy Mother's Club of America, Club 51 in Youngstown, Ohio and Club 865 of Clearwater, Fla. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Welch; three sons, Edward, Joseph and Wade; a brother, Ashley Breneman; and two sisters, Carrie Morris and Reba Guy.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Welsh Horton of Holly Pond and Shirley Welsh; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.s

Noel 'Teni' House Jr.

Funeral services for Noel "Teni" House Jr., 52, of Vinemont are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Delmar Ray McMinn

Delmar Ray McMinn, 56, of Cullman died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at his residence.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is notifying.

Mr. McMinn was born March 23, 1947 in Cullman County. He was a barber and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amiel B. and Agnes McClendon McMinn; and a brother, Jerrel McMinn.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Pat McMinn of Cullman; an aunt, Aline Zimmerman of Foley; an uncle, George (Ginger) McMinn of Cullman; and a nephew, Jack McMinn of Cullman.

Curtis L. Cain

Funeral services for Curtis L. Cain, 85, of Holly Pond will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at Holly Pond Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Horace Hall and Paul Tabor officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cain died Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1918 in Blount County to David Houston and Josephine Bellew Cain. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Pond.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Wynell Daniel Cain of Holly Pond; two sons, Terry (Donna) Cain of Holly Pond and Danny L. Cain of Jasper; a sister, Arnice Sherrer of Oneonta; two grandchildren, Mallory (Eric) Arrington of McDonough, Ga. and Josh Cain of Holly Pond; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Arrington of McDonough, Ga.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James D. Marlar

Funeral services for James D. Marlar, 70, of Bluff Park will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Hoover, the Rev. Tom Fant officiating, with Burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marlar died Monday, Oct. 6. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was owner and operator of Good Old Days Garage, a board member of Model A Restorers Club and a member of the Huntsville Model A Club. He was a longtime member of Bluff Park Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace Marlar.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Marlar; three daughters, Donna (Ray) Stokes, Janet (Colen) Ramsey and Barbara (Steve) Cupp; five grandchildren, Adrian Traywick, Natalie and P.J. Sulzby, Trey and Lindsey Doyle; a great-grandson, Caleb Traywick; amd a sister, Sylvia Jones.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Loree Junkins Quattlebaum

Funeral services for Loree Junkins Quattlebaum, 83, of Falkville will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating, with Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Quattlebaum died Thursday, Oct. 9 at her residence. She was born June 1, 1920 to John and Maudie Ward Junkins. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Glaynus "G.G." Quattlebaum of Falkville; two sons, John (Pat) Quattlebaum of Troy and Harold (Carol) Quattlebaum of Anniston; four grandchildren, Amber Q. Youngblood, Crystal L. Quattlebaum, Forrest S. Quattlebaum and Carla Q. Trull; and three great-grandchildren, Logan and Carson Youngblood and Caleb Trull.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Claudia A. Hayes

Graveside services for Claudia A. Hayes, 77, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at Bethsadia Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hayes died Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Louie Allred.

Survivors include three sons, Buddy Hayes of Orange County, Calif., Tony W. Hayes of Athens and Timothy Hayes of Arab; three daughters, Betty Smith of Pensacola, Fla., Sandy Cullen of Hanceville and Peggy Adams of Cullman; three sisters, Leola Woodard and Maudie Blackwood, both of Cullman, and Marie Jackson of West Point; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
