Wyatte 'Deffie' McCormick Jr.

Graveside services for Wyatte "Deffie" McCormick Jr., 66, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 at Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery, the Rev. Stanley Owensby officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCormick died Thursday, Oct. 23 at his residence. He was born June 5, 1937 in Cullman to Wyatte Sr. and Ester Martin McCormick.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Clarissa McCormick of Cullman; three sons, Bobby Joe McCormick, Carl McCormick and James Richard McCormick, all of Blountsville; two stepsons, John Thomas and Eashock Thomas, both of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Jo-Ann McCormick of Cullman; a stepdaughter, Roxie Thomas of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Billy Martin of Cullman; five sisters, Marie McClendon, Bernice Rice, Cora Lee, Mabelle McCormick, all of Cullman, and Ruby Rice of Michigan; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Elmer Pedroe Adams

Funeral services for Elmer Pedroe Adams, 84, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 at Faith Baptist Church, Randy Makemson officiating, with Burial in First Baptist Church of Vinemont Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams died Friday, Oct. 24 at his residence. He was born Jan. 6, 1919 in Cullman County to Crocier and Katherine Skipper Adams. He was a meat cutter for Jerry's Giant Foods. He was a member of the U.S. Marines and served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Roy Adams, Zecue Adams, Frazier Adams and Hue Gene Adams; and two sisters, Carlue Thompson and Myrtie Oden.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Burkard Adams of Cullman; a son, Larry E. Adams of Cullman; two daughters, Carolyn (Buford) Bailey and Kay Pinkerton of Cullman; two brothers, Lawton Adams of Gardendale and Timothy Adams of Birmingham; a sister, Leonia Pesnell of Cullman; a grandson, Rance (Terie) Bailey; a granddaughter, Miranda Hubinger; and two great-grandchildren, Claire Bailey and Ethan Hubinger.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Othel Rolland Graham

Funeral services for Othel Rolland Graham, 68, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Steve McCurry officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Graham died Thursday, Oct. 23 at his residence. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Alabama State Employment Services. He was a Texas Free Mason and a graduate from Athens State College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce M. and Ida Mae Brisco Graham.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Morgan Graham; three sons, Michael (Caroline) Graham, Bruce (Lorrie) Graham and Stanley Graham; five daughters, Carol (Randy) Watts, Renee Vaughn, Laura Graham Sullivan, Deborah (Randel) Seagroves and Vickie James; three brothers, Aaron Graham, Rathel (Martha) Graham and Royce Graham; two sisters, Linda Cobbs and Janice (Joe) Tucker; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Craig Wood, Nathon Cammon, Joel Smith, Jonathon Cammon, Steve Graham and Phillip Cobbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Simcoe Masonic Lodge No. 854.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lonnie P. Wilson Jr.

Funeral services for Lonnie P. Wilson Jr., 75, of Avon, Conn., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, with Burial in Flint Creek Cemetery in Vinemont.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilson died Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Hartford, Conn. He was born July 9, 1928 in Cullman to Lonnie Sr. and Myrtle Foshee Wilson. He served in the Army National Guard of Alabama from 1948 to 1952 when he was discharged a private first class. He and his wife, Esther, were married on Sept. 1, 1954. He was employed as a veterinarian's assistant to Dr. Farr, a groundskeeper at St. Bernard College and later retired from Garrison Trucking Company. He moved to Avon, Conn. in March 2002. He enjoyed fishing, collecting baseball cards and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.

Survivors include five children, Edith Faulk, Phillip Wilson, Kevin Wilson and Ken Wilson, all of Cullman, and Lee Wilson of Avon, Conn.; a brother; three sisters; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dianna Kennedy Jones

Funeral services for Dianna Kennedy Jones, 65, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Shirley Byrum officiating, with Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, Oct. 23 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Blount County to Herman A. and Sally Mae Alexander White. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Jones of Blountsville; two daughters, Lisa Kennedy Fitzsimmons of Athens and Debbie Kennedy Palmer of Oneonta; two stepdaughters, Maxine Shedd of Brooklyn and Henritta Glispie of Gold Ridge; a stepson, Neal Jones of Albertville; three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be James Lowe Beard, Billy Wayne Beard, Bruce Kelly, Charles Townsend, Gary Townsend, Perry Beard, Lane Pettit and James Lee Jones.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jean Whitaker

Funeral services for Jean Whitaker, 69, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Michael Parker officiating, with Burial in Emeus Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Whitaker died Sunday, Oct. 26 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Feb. 2, 1934 in Newnan, Ga. to Alvin and Maudie Odessa Duke Eason. She was a nurse's aide.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Hubert Wayne (Kathy) Whitaker of Cullman; two daughters, Melba (Benny) O'Rear and Sheila Camp, both of Cullman; three sisters, Linda Bice of Hanceville, Hazel Eason and Marietta Thompson, both of Cullman; nine grandchildren, Chris O'Rear of Winston County, Amanda Harbison of Hartselle, Jackie Whitaker of Huntsville, Drew Henderson, Chelsea Henderson, Michael Whitaker, Angela Spicer, Shannon Armstrong and Kevin Armstrong, all of Cullman; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Pauline Robinson Harper

Funeral services for Pauline Robinson Harper, 76, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Steve Rodgers and Larry Stallings officiating, with Burial in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harper died Saturday, Oct. 25 at Baptist Medical Center-Monclair. She was born Aug. 18, 1927 in Cullman County to William Sherman and Callie Emaline Godbee Robinson. She was a retired poultry farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Arvil Harper of Cullman; a son, Paul D. (Paulette) Harper of Cullman; a daughter, Janice Harper Harris of Cullman; two brothers, Athel Robinson of Cullman and Clayton Robinson of Georgia; a sister, Helen Rogers of Cullman; three grandchildren, Paula Waters, Sherry Farmer and Deanna Chiaranda; and five great-grandchildren, Micah and Lydia Waters, Garrett and Jacob Farmer and Harper Chiaranda.

Visitation was Monday.

Jack King Sides

Funeral services for Jack King Sides, 74, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Mike Irons officiating, with Burial in Cullman Heritage Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sides died Sunday, Oct. 26 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1929 in Walker County to Victor and Lucy King Sides. He was a member of Cullman Kiwanis Club, Cullman Masonic Lodge, North Alabama Regional Council of Government and Board of Directors of Merchants Bank. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He served three terms as mayor of Cullman and six years on the Cullman County Commission.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Victor H. Sides and Fred Sides; and a sister, Faye Blake.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Tucker Sides of Cullman; a son, Steven (Kathy) Sides of Cullman; a daughter, Betty (Greg) Bostick of Cullman; five brothers, George (Roberta) Sides of Dora, Glenn (Bess) Sides of Colorado, Bob (Alice) Sides of Texas, Carl Sides of Florida and Earnest Sides of Piedmont; a sister, Pauline (Arthur) Godwin of Gadsden; four grandchildren, Amanda Bostick, Brian Bostick, Katelyn Sides and Lana Sides; a brother-in-law, James L. (Bobbie) Tucker; and two sisters-in-law, Betty (James) Gann and Sue Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to City School System or the City of Cullman Parks and Recreation.

Visitation was Monday.

Hugh Clifford Rogers

Funeral services for Hugh Clifford Rogers, 84, were Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Steve Rogers officiating, with Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rogers died Saturday, Oct. 25 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1919 in Cullman County. He was a retired dairyman.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Buford, Dock and Orbie Rogers; and five sisters, Velma Lindsey, Eula Buckelew, Bula Vest, Mary Hudson and Esther Pope.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Lovell Rogers; two sons, Jim Rogers and Larry Rogers of Cullman; a daughter, Tina Carol Rogers of Birmingham; a sister, Emma Johnson of Falkville; a granddaughter, Tammy Rogers of Cullman; four great-grandchildren, Duncan Conner, Kristen Cutlip, Brendan Rogers and Burton Cutlip; 23 nieces; and 12 nephews.

Willie E. Tucker

Funeral services for Willie E. Tucker, 82, of Cullman were Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, Mike Waters, Mason Harris and Dave Bradford officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Tucker died Saturday, Oct. 25 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1921 to Andrew Jackson and Omer Etta Lewis Tucker. She was a homemaker and a member of South Cullman Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vera Graham; a brother, Hershel Tucker; and a great-nephew, Barry Graham.

Survivors include a sister, Iva Lee Tucker of Cullman; a nephew, Andy (Sandy) Graham of Tuscaloosa; a great-nephew, Jamey Graham of Birmingham; and friends, Ray (Brenda) Brown, Kevin (Fran) Brown, Emily Klair Brown and Patrick (Kori) Wiginton.

Pallbearers were Randy Parris, Lester Daugherty, Ancil Wallace, James Metcalf, Harold Nix and Hubert Gilbert.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Cobb, John Bates, Michael Means and Neil Hayes.

Ruby Lee Reeves Pruitt

Funeral services for Ruby Lee Reeves Pruitt, 88, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, Dr. Mike Harris and the Rev. Lillian Eddleman officiating, with Burial in Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pruitt died Monday, Oct. 27 at Hanceville. She was born Dec. 13, 1914 to Luther and Melissa Wilson Reeves. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Pruitt; two sons, David A. Pruitt and Edisel L. Pruitt; a daughter, Betty S. Pruitt Self; a son-in-law, Henry Self; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Paul E. (Suzie) Pruitt; two daughters, Esther (the late Charles) Collier and Jean Stephens (Dr. Bill) Schenker; a brother, W.C. (Sue) Reeves; two sisters, Melba (Emil) Leigeber and Ivalene Holmes; seven grandchildren, Dr. Michael Pruitt, Keith Pruitt, Wade Pruitt, Renea Lovetto, Scott Smith, Nicole Lockhart and Stephanie Cummings; nine great-grandchildren, Amber Myrick, Michael Lovetto, Lindsey Cousins, Joshua Pruitt, Benjamin Pruitt, Clay Pruitt, Letitia Lockhart, Samuel Lockhart and Gary Cummings; and three great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Morris, Braden Morris and Gracie Cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Pruitt, Keith Pruitt, Wade Pruitt, Mike Lovetto, Scott Smith, Tim Lockhart and Tim Cummings.

Leroy Allen Holland

Funeral services for Leroy Allen Holland, 56, of Gordo will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Billings officiating, with military graveside service in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Holland died Monday, Oct. 27 at V.A. Nursing Home in Tuscaloosa. He was born in Nebraska on Feb. 4, 1947 to James Allen and Dorothy Peak Holland. He was a department store manager and a veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Survivors include his daughter, Ronica Holland Burns; two sons, Stoney Allen Holland and Joseph Heath Holland; one sister, Audrey Faye Ponder; one brother, Aubrey Ray Holland; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

James Franklin Davis

Funeral services for James Franklin Davis, 69, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct, 28, 2003 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Durwood Graves officiating, with Burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, Oct. 25 in Huntsville. He was born in Cullman County on May 31, 1934 to Ida Bell Davis.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Dalphine Robertson Davis of Walter; stepfather, Herman Davis of Good Hope; son, Ronnie Davis of Walter; two daughters, Janet (Mitchell) Hestla of Walter, Patsy Kelso of Holly Pond; five sisters, Lois Burgess of Birmingham, Wanda Dailey of Blountsville, Billie Kelly of Orlando, Fla., Odell Ryan of Oneonta, Helen Tucker of Smith Lake; two brothers, Butch Davis of Holly Pond, Chalmers Davis of Hanceville; seven grandchildren, Daniel Snell, Angel Davis, Jon Davis, Jeana Davis, Jake Davis, Chelsie Hestla, Lindsay Hestla; and two great-grandchildren, Alysa Lane, Karma Snell.
