Roy Wiggins

Graveside services for Roy Wiggins, 72, of Cropwell, formerly of Holly Pond, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at Kilgroe Funeral Chapel in Pell City, the Rev. James Blair officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Kilgroe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wiggins died Saturday, Oct. 25.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Wiggins.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wiggins; a daughter, Ann Marie (Rick) Helmick; two sons, Roy Lynn (Shawna) Wiggins and James Randall Wiggins; honorary son, Floyd M. (Jennifer) McClung; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lake Side Hospice.

Visitation was Monday.

Donald W. 'Uncle Don' Grimmett

Graveside services for Donald W. "Uncle Don" Grimmett, 68, were held Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East, Mark Correll of Cathedral of the Cross officiating.

Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Grimmett died Thursday, Oct. 24. He was a member of various golf clubs and an avid golfer who won several local and regional golf tournaments. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his step-mother, Onvie Grimmett; sisters, Evelyn Grimmett McDonald of Cullman, Allene Grimmett Ponder of Bremen, Rosa Lee Grimmett Lynn of Pell City, Carmen Grimmett Davidson of Trussville; brothers, G.W. Grimmett of Snead, Wendall Grimmett of Cullman; and special friends, Henry Duncan, Frank Shikle and Johnny "JJ" Jones.

Annie Ruth Hancock

Funeral services for Annie Ruth Hancock, 88, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Moss-Servcie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hancock died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at her residence.

Wayne J. Rutherford

Memorial services for Wayne J. Rutherford, 68, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Eva Road, Elder Anthony Brooks officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rutherford died Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 3, 1934 to John and Lila Blankenship Rutherford. He was an electrician. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of over 47 years, Barbara Ann Sclafini Rutherford; a son, Kevin Damen (Kelli) Rutherford; a daughter, Charissa Lynn (K.C. the II) Cheatham; four brothers, John Rutherford, Darrell Rutherford, Joel Rutherford Sr. and Duell Rutherford; two sisters, Fay Girard and Laura Manderino; and a grandson, Korban Damen Rutherford.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Ruby Lee Reeves Pruitt

Funeral services for Ruby Lee Reeves Pruitt, 88, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, Dr. Mike Harrison and the Rev. Lillian Eddleman officiating, with Burial in Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pruitt died Monday, Oct. 27 at Hanceville. She was born Dec. 13, 1914 to Luther and Melissa Wilson Reeves. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Pruitt; two sons, David A. Pruitt and Edisel L. Pruitt; a daughter, Betty S. Pruitt Self; a son-in-law, Henry Self; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Paul E. (Suzie) Pruitt; two daughters, Esther (the late Charles) Collier and Jean Stephens (Dr. Bill) Schenker; a brother, W.C. (Sue) Reeves; two sisters, Melba (Emil) Leigeber and Ivalene (the late John) Holmes; seven grandchildren, Dr. Michael Pruitt, Keith Pruitt, Wade Pruitt, Renea Lovetto, Scott Smith, Nicole Lockhart and Stephanie Cummings; nine great-grandchildren, Amber Myrick, Michael Lovetto, Lindsey Cousins, Joshua Pruitt, Benjamin Pruitt, Clay Pruitt, Letitia Lockhart, Samuel Lockhart and Gray Cummings; and three great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Morris, Braden Morris and Gracie Cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Pruitt, Keith Pruitt, Wade Pruitt, Mike Lovetto, Scott Smith, Tim Lockhart and Tim Cummings.

Visitation was Tuesday.

David J. Creel

Funeral services for David J. Creel, 69, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, Raymond Baker and Dillion Calvert officiating, with Burial in Bethsadia Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Creel died Monday, Oct. 27 at Cullman Health Care Center. He was born Aug. 13, 1934 to Calvin and Eunice G. Robertson Creel. He was a retired security guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Creel; and a sister, Jessie Marie Creel.

Survivors include a brother, Philip Creel of Cullman; a sister, Allie Lee of Cullman; four nieces; and seven nephews.

Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. today.

Dr. William Byrd 'Bill' Bryan

Funeral services for Dr. William Byrd "Bill" Bryan, 72, of Tuscaloosa were Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2003 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, the Revs. Carl Wells and Pete Hawker officiating, with Burial in Memory Hill Gardens.

Memory Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Bryan died Saturday, Oct. 25 at his residence. He was born Nov. 27, 1930 in Brundidge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as teacher, principal, in secondary administration, as professor and dean at the University of Alabama. He received a bachelor's degree from Troy State Teachers College and his master's and EdD from the University of Alabama. He was a member of the Alabama State Beta Club Council, served as executive director in the Alabama Dept. of Elementary School Principals, as executive secretary in the Alabama Council for School Administration and Supervision, member and chair with the National Beta Club Board of Directors and was 1982 Alumnus of the Year with Troy State University (all prior to retirement). After retiring he was a member of Tuscaloosa RTA, ARTA, AEA, NEA-R, AARP, was vice-president of TRTA, a member of ARTA Board of Directors in District III, was state coordinator for Consumer Issues - AARP, was liaison for ARTA and National Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Marianne Bryan; four sons, Fred (Carole) Bryan, Vince (Donna) Cheatham, Jim (Vickie) Cheatham and Kyle Bryan; and eight grandchildren, Josh and Jake Bryan, Christy and Taylor Cheatham, Chase Cheatham, Sarah Patton, Kathryn and James Bryan.

Pallbearers will be Josh and Jake Bryan, Chase and Taylor Cheatham, Jerry Fritz and Tom Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of Dolan Davis and BYKOTA Sunday School classes of First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa and Dr. George Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Alabama, the Good Samaritan Clinic or an organization of contributor's choice.

Visitation was Monday.

Walter Grant Kirkpatrick

Graveside services for Walter Grant Kirkpatrick, 86, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Father Kevin McGrath officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kirkpatrick died Tuesday, Oct. 28. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on July 9, 1917 to Walter and Alice Loretta Madden Kirkpatrick. He was in sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Kirkpatrick; two brothers, James E. Kirkpatrick and Elmer Kirkpatrick; and three sisters, Eileen Kirkpatrick, Victory Colson and Ann Driscoll.

Survivors include a brother, John J. Kirkpatrick of Wintersville, Ohio; and two sisters, Ida Haynes of Toronto, Ohio and Alice Bunny Wells of Steubenville, Ohio.

Danny Ray Hancock

Funeral services for Danny Ray Hancock, 53, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Ryans Creek Baptist Church, the Revs. Dillon Calvert and Ron Gilbreath officiating, with Burial in Ryan's Creek Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hancock died Tuesday, Oct. 28 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman County on April 26, 1950.

Survivors include his parents, Clarence and Clarice Calvert Hancock of Bremen; three sons, Kerry (Amanda) Hancock of Bremen and Mark (Sonya) Hancock and Shane (Tracy) Hancock, both of Crane Hill; a brother, Bruce Hancock of Bremen; a sister, Joyce Wilcox of Perdido Key, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Noah, Cody and Andrew Hancock.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruby Brooks Loos

Funeral services for Ruby Brooks Loos, 90, of Athens, formerly of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Mt. Olive Congregational Methodist Church, the Rev. Charles Dixon officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state on hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Loos died Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Athens. She was born June 26, 1913 to John and Ida Strawn Brooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Congregational Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Loos; her parents; two brothers, Horace and Earl Brooks; and a grandson, Kevin Scott.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol McMurray of Athens and Doris McClure of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Steven Frank of Tanner, Debra Elmore and Lisa Towe, both of Athens, and Kathleen Tillery of Gurley; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today.

Cleo Spradlin

Funeral services for Cleo Spradlin, 78, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Delwin Kilgo officiating, with Burial in Simcoe Methodist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Spradlin died Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Guntersville. She was born Nov. 19, 1924 to O.S. "Doc" and Myrtie Farmer Spradlin. She was a retired restaurant worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Homer L. Spradlin, H.H. "Hoot" Spradlin and James H. "Poke" Spradlin; and a sister, Lois Spradlin Reid.

Survivors include a daughter, Polly (Al) Stone of Cullman; a sister, Carolyn Hunter of Cullman; a sister-in-law, Mary Nell Spradlin of Cullman; a stepgranddaughter, Terri Stone Hartin of St. Louis, Mo.; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Jeff and Elizabeth Hartin of St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

Rena JoAnn Twitty

Funeral services for Rena JoAnn Twitty, 91, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003 at Fairview Baptist Church, the Rev. Jerome Fields officiating, with Burial in Colony Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Twitty died Saturday, Oct. 25 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 31, 1911 in Alabama to William and Luticia Fields Byars. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three daughters, Flora Leeth, Mary Hall and Dorothy Clayton; a stepdaughter, Verdell Twitty; two sons, George Byars and Raymond Twitty; two brothers, Ocie Byars and Alphonso Byars; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

James Timothy Willis

James Timothy Willis, 46, of Cullman died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 in Morgan County. No services are planned.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is notifying.

Mr. Willis was born May 31, 1957.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Kay Johnson.

Survivors include his mother, Reba Sue Willis of Cullman; his father, James Arthur Willis of Hulaco; two brothers, Phillip Brian Willis of Cullman and Alan Scott Willis of Hulaco; two nieces; and one nephew.

Izer Malen Wray

Funeral services for Izer Malen Wray, 75, of Vincent are at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Bolton Brown Service Chapel in Columbiana, the Revs. Fred Gibbs and Russell Hughes officiating, with Burial in Dunnavant Community Cemetery.

Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wray died Tuesday, Oct. 28 at his residence, He was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Valhermoso Springs. He retired after 38 years of service to U.S. Steel.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Laura Wray; four children, Pamela (Johnny) Goss of Vincent, Paul (Regina) Wray of Green Pond, Jeff (Sue) Wray of Vincent and Carmen (Mark) Brasher of Sylacauga; five sisters, Estelle Palmer, Louise (Jim) Campbell, Dortha Hall, Elsie (Shorty) Stringer and Edna Jean (Alvin) Byrd; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
