Steven Marlan Henry

Memorial services for Steven Marlan Henry, 45, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at First Baptist Church, Jerry Fleming and Ed Hayes officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henry died Saturday, Nov. 8, at his residence. He was born April 20, 1958. He was a registered nurse. He was a 1975 graduate of Cullman High School and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1978 with a major in mathematics and a minor in English. He then pursued a law degree, graduating from the University of Alabama Law School in 1981. In May, 1985, he graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained at First Baptist Church, Cullman on January 29, 1984. That year, he was also awarded an "Outstanding Young Men of America" certificate from the group by the same name. He received a diploma with honors in nursing from Central Ohio Technical College in 1990. He participated for several years in the Traveling Nurses program.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth M. Henry.

Survivors include his mother, Edna L. Henry of Cullman; two sisters, Anita McCarty of Anniston and Holly Lawson of Huntsville; two nephews, Jon McCarty of Anniston and Nathan Lawson of Huntsville; and one niece, Angeline Lawson of Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

Visitation will follow the service.

Robert Maurice Chandler

Memorial graveside services for Robert Maurice Chandler, 62, of Huntsville will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Vinemont Baptist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post No. 237 on Drake Avenue in Huntsville.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chandler died Sept. 21. He was born Sept. 16, 1941, to William Thomas Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter Chandler. He was a graduate of West Point High School and, beginning in 1961, instructed and performed cosmetology and hairdressing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Rose; and brothers, Don Fredrick Chandler and William Thomas Chandler Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Nicole Chandler Ledbetter of Hoover; brother, James Delano Chandler of Placerville, Calif.; and two sisters, Linda Joyce Johnson of Estill Springs, Tenn., and Rebecca Arlene Maxwell of Huntsville.

Walker Travis Neighbors

Funeral services for Walker Travis Neighbors, 78, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel with Burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Neighbors died Thursday, Nov. 13, at Cullman Long Term Care. He was born in Alabama on July 6, 1925 to William Jasper and Olivia Buchanan Neighbors. He was a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Boyd) Smith and Judy (Steve) Cochran; two sons, Steve Neighbors and Tim Neighbors; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Zell Gaston McCarn

Funeral services for Zell Gaston McCarn, 88, of Baileyton were held Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Gober Funeral Chapel, Gary McRae and Jay Clark officiating, with Burial in Gilliam Springs Cemetery.

Gober Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCarn died Monday, Nov. 10, at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born in Cullman County on Aug. 26, 1915, to John Houston and Dura E. Graves McCarn. He worked 25 years with Standard Oil Company in Birmingham, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church since July 10, 1977. He was an Air Force veteran, having served four years in World War II and two years in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray McCarn and Burnett McCarn; and four sisters, Eula Harbison, Bessie Burchell, Jewel McCarn and Nadine Hendrix.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gussie Mae Julian McCarn of Baileyton, and daughter, Linda Christine Styles of Huntsville.

O.F. 'Bob' Burns

Funeral services for O.F. "Bob" Burns, 92, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Cullman, were held Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Chapel.

Sunset Northwest Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burns died Monday, Nov. 3. He was born in Blount County on July 31, 1911, to James Dennis and Rettie Fowler Burns and was reared in Cullman County. He graduated from Auburn University in 1939 with a degree in agriculture and worked for the state of Alabama as a county agricultural agent until being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941. During World War II he served in Guadacanal in communications. He worked for Foremost Dairies until establishing his own dairy business.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael Keith Burns and Barry Joe Burns; two sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ellen Griffin Burns; daughter, Dr. Rebecca Burns (Dr. Ronald) Hamner of San Antonio; sister, Deloris Reichwein of Cullman; and three granddaughters, Ellen, Melissa and Ashley Hamner.

Rosie Pervie Blankenship

Funeral services for Rosie Pervie Blankenship, 92, of Houston, will be Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at New Home Baptist Church in Moreland, Wayne Bumgart and Rex Riddle officiating, with Burial in Moreland Cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blankenship died Thursday, Nov. 13, at National Health Care Center in Moulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurthur and Rosie Warren; husband, Albert J. Blankenship; daughter, Lowell Bumgart; and four sons, Lloyd Blankenship, Louie Blankenship, L.B. Blankenship and Lawrence Blankenship.

Survivors include four daughters, Louise Mitchell and Linda Clark, both of Moulton; Lorene Harris of Hartselle and Loree Bolan of Houston; three sons, Leamon Blankenship and Lelton Blankenship, both of Moulton, and Leo Blankenship of Morris; two sisters, Tina Denton of Addison and Hazel Riddle of Houston; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Borden Childers

Funeral services for Barbara Borden Childers, 52, of Falkville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Westside Baptist Church in Eva, the Rev. Clyde Ledlow officiating, with Burial in Oden Ridge Cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour before the funeral.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Childers died Friday, Nov. 14, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Lawrence County to Edgar T. and Walcie Tucker Borden. She was a homemaker and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Eva.

Survivors include her husband, Ruel Childers; two sons, Nathan Childers of Falkville and Ryan Childers of Arab; daughter, Amanda Wilbanks of Corinth, Miss.; foster daughter, Tammy Marks of Moulton; two brothers, Irwin Borden and Floyd Borden, both of Union Hill; sister, Naomi Taylor of Falkville; eight grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Visitation was Friday.

Edith Kilgo Doubleman

Graveside services for Edith Kilgo Doubleman, 89, formerly of Cullman were Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Rice's Chapel Cemetery in Bremen, Delwin Kilgo and Tommy Graves officiating.

Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doubleman died Nov. 6. She was born March 13, 1914, in Brushy Pond to John J. and Idella Kilgo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Doubleman; three infant children; three brothers, Elver Kilgo, Clelie Kilgo and Bill Kilgo; and one sister, Ebbie Kilgo Dotson.

Survivors include three sisters, Nettie Heatherly of Welti, Grace Ogletree of Mt. Olive and Ruth Clark of San Francisco; and two brothers, N.D. Kilgo of Huntsville and John H. Kilgo of Crane Hill.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 8.

Estella Wisener

Funeral services for Estella Wisener, 90, of Baileyton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Arab Memorial Chapel, Junior Plunkett and David Bailey officiating, with Burial in Duck Creek Cemetery.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wisener died Friday, Nov. 14, at Barfield Health Care. She was born June 5, 1913, in Cullman County to John Henry and Annie Croft Jones. She was retired from working in the Baileyton School lunchroom. She was a member of Duck Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wisener.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Jack) Walker of Baileyton; three sisters, Bessie Jones of Baileyton and Ruby Bailey and Pauline Mitchell, both of Holly Pond; three brothers, J.D. Jones of Cullman, Zertis Jones of Holly Pond and Hershel Jones of Baileyton; granddaughter, LouAnn (Vance) Easterwood of Baileyton; and great-grandson, Russ Easterwood of Baileyton.

Pallbearers will be Ferrell Bob Jones, Bob Jones, Jack Bailey, Donald Mitchell, Charles Jones and Bo Corbin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Lorene Lynn

Funeral services for Lorene Lynn, 83, of Valley Grove will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at Valley Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Perry Knight officiating, with Burial in Valley Springs Cemetery in Cullman.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lynn died Friday, Nov. 14, at her residence. She was born May 11, 1920, in Cullman to Dallas and Hattie Guthery Presley.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jim P. Lynn; two sons, Frankie (Linda) Lynn and Johnny (Karen) Lynn, both of Valley Grove; two daughters, Brenda (Gary) Sartin and Ann Taylor, both of Valley Grove; three special grandchildren, Jimmy (Michelle) Lynn of Valley Grove, Sherry Lynn of Centre and Deborah (Gannon) Sanders of Fayetteville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Robert Homer Bentley

Funeral services for Robert Homer Bentley, 81, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Moss-Service Chapel, Debbie Williams officiating, with Burial in Hamby's Chapel Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bentley died Friday, Nov. 14, at his residence. He was born April 11, 1922, to Issac and Daisy Teel Bentley. He was retired from NASA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a great-grandson, Myles Brockway.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Naomi Bonner Bentley; four daughters, Patricia Ellenburg, Gail (George) Colbow, Janet (Jimmy) White and Myra (Paul) Deupree, all of Cullman; two sisters, Ruby Smith Whigam of Webb and Essie Rives of Albertville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County, 402 Fourth Ave. NE, Cullman, Ala., 35055.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Stacy, Patrick White, Dax Tankersley, Danny Branch, Rick McGukin and Kenneth Smith.

Visitation was Saturday.

Robert A. Brown

Graveside services for Robert A. Brown, 59, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Cullman City Cemetery, Jim Abbott officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Friday, Nov. 14, at his residence. He was born April 26, 1944, to Paul A. and Vivian M. Brown. He was a supervisor at an injection molding plant.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine L. Wentzel Brown; father; brother, David Michael (Lori) Brown; brother-in-law, Raymond (Karen) Wentzel; and two sisters, Virginia Ford and Joan (John) Oswald.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Charlotte Nell Bentley Graham

Funeral services for Charlotte Nell Bentley Graham, 56, of Hartselle will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Peck Funeral Home, the Rev. Jeff Redmond officiating, with Burial in Burning Tree Memorial Gardens.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graham died Friday, Nov. 14, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 17, 1947 in Cullman County to Paul R. and Maybelle Haynes Bentley. She was a bookkeeper for Baker Reels and was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, Douglas Graham.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Taylor of Lafayette, La., and Brandon Graham of Decatur; her mother; two brothers, Rob Bentley of Good Hope and Ray Bentley of Berlin; three sisters, Billy Jean Payne of Berlin, Dorothy Haddack of Rogersville and Joanne Abrams of Rome, Ga.; nine nephews; and eight nieces.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Bentley, Jonathan Bentley, Mike Payne, Chad Abrams, Terry Bentley and Mike Bentley.

Visitation was Saturday.
