Lessie Dee 'L.D.' Curl

Funeral services for Lessie Dee "L.D." Curl of Cullman will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Tim Junkins officiating, with Burial in Bethlehem East Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Curl died Sunday, Dec. 21, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Blount County. He was a longtime resident of Etowah County and later retired in Cullman County. He was a veteran of World War II. He was the owner of Curl Concrete Products in Glencoe and Curl Concrete in Cullman for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and active in several churches during his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Velma Jackson Curl; his parents, the Rev. Walter H. and Minnie Curl; three brothers, Arthur, Bill and Leroy; and a sister, Pearl.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Martin; a son, Ronnie (Pam) Curl; hree sisters, Bert Hall, Etheleen Livingston and Dot Brown; a brother, J.B. Curl; four grandchildren, Nick Curl, Sheree (Jon) Benefield, Tina (Kirby) Wallace and Nicole (Douglas) Comer; nine great-grandchildren, Alex Wallace, Chris Wallace, Hannah Wallace, Timothy Wallace, Sarah Wallace, Brittney Pope, Harley Pope, Aubrie Green and Elizabeth Benefield.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Richard Franklin 'Peachy' Reid

Funeral services for Richard Franklin "Peachy" Reid, 47, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Warren Rhuland officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reid died Sunday, Dec. 21, at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1956, in Cullman County to Hobert D. and Freda Wolf Reid. He was the owner and operator of Raceway Convenience Store.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother; four brothers, George Reid of Cullman, Charles (Lou) Dingler of Hanceville, Leldon Dingler of Vinemont and Douglas Dingler of Priceville; a sister, Martha (Terry) Porter of Riverdale, Ga.; special friend, Gerri Fortner of West Point, and her sons, Leroy (Telisa) Fortner, Tim Fortner and John King, all of West Point, and Garvis King of Blount County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Stephanie McDearmond

Funeral services for Stephanie McDearmond, 36, of Baileyton will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Arab Memorial Chapel, David Harper and Steve Lecroy officiating, with Burial in Duck Creek Cemetery.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McDearmond died Saturday, Dec. 20, at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham. She was born March 5, 1967, in Cullman County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Terry McDearmond of Baileyton; her mother and stepfather, Kathy "Polly" and Roger Sinyard of Holly Pond; a son, T.J. Woodruff of Cullman; three daughters, Amanda Burden of Arab, Alisha Estes of Baileyton and Selina Woodruff of Cullman; a granddaughter, Kaley Burden; and three sisters, Gloria Whisenant of Arab, Virginia Stanley of Union Grove and Rebecca Jarrett of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Harry Bivins, Greg Barbee, Erby Barbee, Mark Broadway, Dwight Amos and Randy Amos.

Visitation was Monday.

Maxine Moore Hipp

Funeral services for Maxine Moore Hipp, 80, of Blountsville were Monday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Tommy D. Graves officiating, with Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hipp died Saturday, Dec. 20, at Medical Center East Hospital in Birmingham. She was born in Blount County to Oscar and Docia Blackwood Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of Royal Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid Hipp; her parents; and two sisters, Imogene Whitworth and Janie Hallmark.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Ellen) Hipp of Hull, Ga. and Marlon (Alice) Hipp of Greencastle, Pa.; a daughter, Helen (Jerry) Hammond of Birmingham; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brian Hipp and Scott Hipp.

Visitation was Sunday.

Harold Wayne Nash

Funeral services for Harold Wayne Nash, 68, of Blountsville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Dr. Robert Smith and Preston Weston officiating, with Burial in Rock Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Nash died Sunday, Dec. 21, at his residence. He was born in Cleveland to Novline Nash Hipp. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Nash; three sons, Jack (Kim) Martin, Eric (Melanie) Cox and Bryant (Corey) Cox, all of Blountsville; five daughters, Wanda (Eddie) Cowan and Loretta (Preston) Weston, both of Blountsville, Angie (Darrel) House and Anita Bannister, both of Arab, and Elizabeth Alexander of Birmingham; two brothers, Mike Hipp of Oneonta and Rick Caves of Tennessee; five sisters, JoAnn (Jerry) Bullard and Gladys Hipp, both of Blountsville, Martha (Larry) Smith of Birmingham, Barbara (Gerald) Tripp and Jean (James) McGriff, both of Albertville; and 16 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Bullard, Jason Bullard, Heath Hipp, Mitchell Self, Chris Roberts and Phillip Alexander.

Rev. Jack Dempsey Williams

Funeral services for the Rev. Jack Dempsey Williams, 82, of Jasper will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Collins-Burke Funeral Chapel, Jackie Key and Wayne Williams officiating, with Burial in Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Williams died Monday, Dec. 22, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Stewart Williams; his parents, Louis and Audrey Williams; and a brother, Louis Williams Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Charlie) Adams; two sons, Rick (Gail) Williams and Jack (Glenda) Williams; three sisters, Sarah Baker, Eloise Adams and Juanita Davis; five grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Lovett, Todd (Christy) Williams, Stefan Adams, Regan Williams and Jordan Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Richie Lovett and Robbie Lovett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sunlight Baptist Church, 2062 Sun Light Road, Jasper, Ala. 35504.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jack Harbin

Funeral services for Jack Harbin, 83, of Good Hope will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Good Hope Baptist Church, the Revs. Ralph Andrews and Kenneth Hester officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Harbin died Monday, Dec. 22, in Hayden. He was born in Douglasville, Ga. on June 2, 1920, to Marshall and Anna Yeager Harbin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Dean Brock Harbin of Good Hope; two daughters, Jackie (Larry) Gentry of Cullman and Jeannette (John) Townsend of Arab; a stepdaughter, Jeannette (Terry) Speegle of Good Hope; seven grandchildren; Elise Harbin, Sean (Mary Beth) Harbin, Seth Harbin, Jackie Townsend, Joni Townsend, Kelly Townsend and Kerry Townsend; two stepgrandchildren, Erica Speegle and Samantha Speegle; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Elizabeth Phillips.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at the church.

Lois Ann Norman

Funeral services for Lois Ann Norman, 87, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Hanceville Funeral Home, Dr. David McGowin officiating, with Burial in Welti Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norman died Monday, Dec. 22, in Cullman. She was born in Cullman County on Nov. 4, 1916, to Walter G. and Nancy Adcock Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include four daughters, Wilma (Alton) Bland of Hanceville, Betty (Fred) White of Gulf Shores, Edith Whatley and Louise Hollaway, both of Cullman; two sisters, Margaret Ergle of Elkhart, Ind., and Myrtie Harris of Seven Hills, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jimmy Bland, Glenda Nail, Kelly Taylor, Patrick White, Roger White and Stanley White; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Margaret Wimbs Bell

Funeral services for Margaret Wimbs Bell, 62, of Falkville will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Gary Miller officiating, with Burial in Welcome Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Bell died Tuesday, Dec. 23, at her residence. She was born in Lawrence County on June 7, 1941, to John Russell and Julia Arlela Holcomb Wimbs. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Don Bell; her parents; and a sister, Velma Lou Creel.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Bell of Falkville; two sons, Terry Gene Bell of Somerville and Jerry Ray Bell of Falkville; a daughter, Cherrie Louise Gardner of Falkville; four brothers, James Bently Wimbs of Somerville, Ferrell Russell Wimbs of Eva, Travis Holcomb Wimbs of Cullman and Neville Amos Wimbs of Lebo, Kan.; four sisters, Thelma Sue Webb of Hartselle, Luda Mae Taylor of Eva, Reva Norine Ray of Moulton and Vivian Gail Lynn of Gulf Shores; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Moon, Terry Smith, Nathan Smith, John Wimbs, T.J. Wimbs and Nicholas Smith.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clifford G. Harris

Funeral services for Clifford G. Harris of Mobile, formerly of Cullman, were Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Dr. Terry Cutrer officiating, with Burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens. military honors were rendered at the graveside by VFW Post No. 49, with honor guard unit.

Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harris died Saturday, Dec. 13. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth J. Harris; two sons, Rober G. (Grace) Harris, all of Semmes, and James F. (Donna) Harris of Niceville, Fla.; three granddaughters, Sarah K. Harris of Niceville, Laura G. (Jason) Singleton and Jennifer M. Haas, both of Mobile; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Taylor Singleton and William Turner Singleton; a brother, Clyde Ray Harris; and a sister, Lucille Ryan, both of Blountsville.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Parnell, James Harris, Carl Harris, Charles J. Harris, Charles Turner and Martin E. Ryan Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Dantzler, Robert M. Stevens and Carlton Livingston.

Aubra Kathleen Hipp

Funeral services for Aubra Kathleen Hipp, 65, of Baileyton were Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Gober Funeral Chapel, Morris Nunnelley and Lynn Perkins officiating, with Burial in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

Gober Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hipp died Thursday, Dec. 18, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 13, 1938, in Cullman County to D.E. "Kid" and Flora Ward Eudy. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at Hulaco.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Hipp; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Sherri) Hipp of Baileyton; a daughter, Ramona (Barry) Burden of Arab; a sister, Mary Fletcher of Baileyton; and two grandchildren, Alex Hipp and Samantha Burden.

Pallbearers will be Stewart Eudy, Michael Eudy, Clain Fletcher, Craig Hipp, John King and Bob Jones.

Marguerite Dykes Murphy

Funeral services for Marguerite Dykes Murphy, 88, of Cullman were Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Jim Reece and Drs. Edwin Hayes and Bill Burkett officiating, with Burial in Pineview Memorial Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murphy died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Henry County to John Henry and Hattie Lou Owens Dykes. She was a homemaker. She was a resident of Cullman County since 1984. As a member of First Baptist Church of Cullman, she was active in Sunday School, outreach and choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace H. Murphy; two sisters, Evelyn Dykes Anderson and Luverne Dykes McCain; three brothers, Ray Dykes, Ralph Dykes and Fred Dykes; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Howard Milton (Sharon) Murphy of Alabaster; three daughters, Patricia Murphy (Gordon) Perry of Huntsville, Peggy Murphy Harris and Janis Murphy Davis, both of Cullman; a brother, James Berry (Billie) Dykes of Donalsonville, Ga.; a sister, Katherine Dykes Smith of Morrow, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County, Cullman First Baptist Church and the Methodist Children's Home in Selma.
