David Alvis Stancil

Funeral services for David Alvis Stancil, 55, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Mt. Carmel Church, Gary McRae and Samuel Tucker officiating, with Burial in Berlin Cemetery at Mt. Carmel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stancil died Thursday, Dec. 25, at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Aug. 15, 1948, in Blount County to George Belton and Beatrice Yates Stancil. He was a carpenter in residential construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Byron Stancil.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Keller Stancil; two sons, David Daine (Pamela) Stancil and David Belton (Amanda) Stancil; a daughter, Jane Lashell (Greg) Bryan; three brothers, James B. Stancil, Phillip D. Stancil and Huey E. Stancil; six sisters, Glenda Hardeman, Elaine Baker, Patricia Campbell, Nita Twilley, Karen Allbritton and Angie Marie Roberts, all of Cullman; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Verlan B. Brown

Funeral services for Verlan B. Brown, 88, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Gary Driver and Tim Kinney officiating, with Burial in Enon Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Dec. 28, at his residence. He was born May 19, 1915, in Cullman County. He was a retired mail carrier and carpenter. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Alta Tilley Brown; and a sister, Genice Bentley.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Holmes Brown; a daughter, Nedra Kreps; a brother, Robert Ivan Brown, all of Vinemont; a sister, Mary Moon of Cullman; and a grandson, Shannon Kreps; and great-grandchild, Kandace Kreps both of Vinemont.

Visitation was Monday.

James Edward Nichols

Funeral services for James Edward Nichols, 89, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church, Guy Hunt officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nichols died Sunday, Dec. 28, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1914, in Elkmont. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Nichols and Daisy Powers; a son, Tony Nichols; three brothers, Grady Nichols, Raymond Nichols and David Nichols; and four sisters, Bertha Parker, Madge Campbell, Bess Edgemon and Leona Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Drucilla Ozbolt Nichols of Vinemont; a son, Ricky Alan (Vanessa) Nichols of Vinemont; a daughter, Lynda (Maynard) Smith of Britton, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Alaina, Rebekah and Jacob Nichols, Kevin Hodges and Mary Leathers.

Visitation was Monday.

Shelda Faye Johnson

Funeral services for Shelda Faye Johnson, 64, of Bremen were Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Kinney Grove Baptist Church, Dillion Calvert and Wayne Williams officiating, with Burial in Ryans Creek Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, Dec. 27, at her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Cullman County. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Chester Bates; and a brother, Wallace Benton Bates.

Survivors include her husband, Evon Johnson; her mother, Agnes Brock; three sons, Barry Johnson, Michael Kim (Kimberly Lynn) Johnson and Russell Glen Johnson, all of Cullman; two brothers, Dale William (Judy) Bates of Dalton, Ga. and James Dennis (Kathy) Bates of Cullman; two sisters, Jan Marie Brock and Beverly Paulett (Marlon) Bates; and nine grandchildren, April Marie Johnson, Tammy Renea Smith and Daniel Lee, Brett Mitchell, Zachery Ryan, Kayla Brook, Keegan Lynn, Kelsey Grace and Kasey Hope Johnson.

Visitation was Sunday.

Elsie Idell Harper

Funeral services for Elsie Idell Harper, 89, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Doug Pitts officiating, with Burial in Garden City Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harper died Monday, Dec. 29, in Hanceville. She was born in Cullman County on March 9, 1914, to William C. and Pearl Petti Connell.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three daughters, Elner Calvert, Fay Harper and Wilma Lamont, all of Hanceville; two sons, Howard McAnnally of Donaldsonville, Ga., and Melvin McAnnally of Fairview; two brothers, Harvey Connell of Lakeland, Fla., and Jay Connell of Cullman; a sister, Evelyn Edwards of Lakeland, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edna Faye Yates

Funeral services for Edna Faye Yates, 71, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Moss-Service Chapel, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Yates died Sunday, Dec. 28, at Carraway Hospital in Birmingham. She was born Dec. 24, 1932, to Leo and Lucille Crowe Bennich. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Plemons; and a granddaughter, Kara Kraft.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Yates of Cullman; a daughter, Nancy (Chris) Robinson of Huntsville; a sister, Mary Maxine Myers of Birmingham; and a grandson, Andrew Yates Robinson of Huntsville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Marie Odeal Sears

Funeral services for Marie Odeal Sears, 73, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Jackie Ellenburg officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sears died Monday, Dec. 29, at her residence. She was born June 11, 1930, in Tennessee to General Jackson and Edna Vanolia Eddy Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Curtis Sears; a son, Ronnie William Sears; and a daughter, Denna Carol Sears.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Vickey) Sears of Birmingham and Chris (Tanya) Sears of Baileyton; seven daughters, Judy (Ray) Abbott of Bremen and Geneva (Larry) Dollar, Juanita (Drennen) Twilley, Patsy (Van) Maner, Vickie (Ronnie) Daniel, Donna (Buford) Roberts and Tina (David) Luker, all of Cullman; a brother, J.T. Campbell of Logan; two sisters, Roxie Carden and Birdie Kilpatrick, both of Cullman; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willie C. Booth

Funeral services for Willie C. Booth, 82, of Hartselle will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Hartselle, the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating, with Burial in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Booth died Sunday, Dec. 28, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Cullman County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle and the American Legion Auxillary. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II as a member of the Women's Army Corps.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Powers Booth Sr.; a son, Earl Dixon Booth; her parents, Dennis A. and Bessie Lindsay Cofer; and a brother, Alton Cofer.

Survivors include two sons, James P. Booth of Atlanta, Ga., and Dennis M. Booth of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Jamie Booth of Atlanta, Ga., and Dena B. Mayfield and Mason Booth, both of Hartselle; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Eva Beatrice Alldredge Latta

Funeral services for Eva Beatrice Alldredge Latta, 90, of the Hendrix community, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Lemley Chapel in Oneonta, Keith Banks, Leon Beasley and Eddie Doty officiating, with Burial in New Lebanon Cemetery.

Lemley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Latta died Sunday, Dec. 28, at her residence. She was born in Alabama to Thomas Green and Gussie Era Thomas Alldredge. She was a homemaker and a member of Oneonta Church of God since 1938.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Virgle "Jim" Latta; a daughter, Opal; a son, Wayne; and her parents.

Survivors include five daughters, Alma (Isaac) Baker, Louise (Randolph) Louisleigeber Hann, Era (Willard) Worthington, Faye (G.W.) Grimmett and Linda (Leon) Beasley; four sons, James Edward "Ed" (Pat) Latta, Virgle (Charlotte) Latta, Cecil (Barbara) Latta and Tommy (Charlotte) Latta; 29 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Lee White, Betty Sweatt and Thelma Craven; two brothers, Junior Alldredge and Bob Alldredge; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Franks.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Baker, Gary Leigeber, David Worthington, Steve Latta, Tony Latta, Mickey Latta, Mark Helton and Kevin Latta.

Charlie June Johnson

Funeral services for Charlie June Johnson, 68, of Berea, Ky. will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, with Burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Monday, Dec. 29, at Berea Hospital. She was born June 11, 1935, in Cullman to Grady and Clora Smith White. She was of the Baptist faith, having been baptized at Millers Flat in Cullman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Johnson; and a sister, Billy Jo Dunn.

Survivors include three daughters, Amanda Johnson (Mike) Powell of Jackson County, Vicky Davis (Hany) Hedi of Melbourne, Fla., and Sharon Davis (Ronnie) Anderson of Berea, Ky.; three sisters, Mary Hathcock and Glena Calvert, both of Cullman, and Jimmy Sue Mills of Tennessee; a brother, Bernard White of Vinemont; and three grandchildren, Dalton Moody, Taylor Powell and Jonathan Anderson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jack C. Henry

Funeral services for Jack C. Henry, 75, of Good Hope will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Ralph Andrews and Perry Knight officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henry died Monday, Dec. 29, at his residence. He was born Dec. 14, 1928, to Verlie H. and Essie Eula Calvert Henry. He was a civil engineer.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rae Cranford Henry of Good Hope; a son, Dan C. (Sally) Henry of Jemison; a daughter, Alicia Rae (Maxie) Jones of Good Hope; four grandchildren, Amy Hall, Ginger (Jamie) Lipsey, Andrea Henry and Zachary Henry; and three great-grandchildren, Keshia Horton, Kyle and Kody Hall.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Dennis Randall Watts

Funeral services for Dennis Randall Watts, 53, of Arley will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Arley Congregational Church. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Nichols Funeral Home Addison is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Watts died Monday, Dec. 29, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Clayson Watts; and two brothers, Ray Watts and Doc Smith.

Survivors include his wife,Kim Watts of Carbon Hill; son, Reggie Watts of Arley; four sisters, Gail Price of Arley, Charlene Elliott of Curry, Marie Maze and Ann Watts, both of Addison; and two brothers, Nolen Smith of Arley and Charles Watts of Addison.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Lessie Mae Waldrep

Funeral services for Lessie Mae Waldrep, 92, of Logan will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Nichols Funeral Chapel, with Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Waldrep died Monday, Dec. 29, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Oliver Waldrep; a son, Wendle Waldrep and Ricky Waldrep; six brothers, Fletcher Banks, Daniel Williams, Manley Williams, Rosevelt Williams, Carvin Williams and Coleman Williams; three sisters, Annie Drummond, Bessie Sharritt and Rosie Parker; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Rudolph Waldrep of Logan; three daughters, Arvie Lee Marks Smith and Shirley Norman, both of Logan, and Jan Pratt of Pottsboro, Texas; two sisters, Wilma Peak and Idell Williams, both of Logan; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
