Lee Olin Davenport

Funeral services for Lee Olin Davenport, 67, of Madison, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Living Faith Baptist Church, Larry Brown, Richard Hendrix and Mike Rogers officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davenport died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at his residence. He was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Cullman to Homer Lee and Lena Gossett Davenport. He was a member of Madison Freewill Baptist Church, a former master mason and a member of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Eady.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Davenport of Madison; two sons, James (Gina) Davenport of Madison and Jeff Davenport of Honolulu, Hawaii; three daughters, Patti (Jerry) Pope of Cullman, Dana Davenport of Alpha, N.J., and Heather Davenport of Madison; two brothers, James Conard (Helen) Davenport of Cullman and Jimmie (Chris) Davenport of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Annie (Edsel) Waldrep of Seneca, S.C., and Charlotte (John) Bishop of Cullman; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Mayo of Madison; four grandchildren, Stephine Weiss, Scott ivy, Ian Nevelle and Logan Ivy; and one great-grandchild, Devin Rorrer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cleo Artimus Allbritton Jr.

Funeral services for Cleo Artimus Allbritton Jr., 78, of Monroe, Ga., formerly of Stouts Mountain, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Randy Booth officiating, with Burial in Fairview West Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allbritton died Sunday, Jan. 18, in Monroe, Ga. He was born in Tarrant City on Aug. 17, 1925, to C.A. Sr. and Ruby Copeland Allbritton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Whaley Allbritton of Monroe, Ga.; a son, Ronnie Allbritton of Quinton; two daughters, Sharon Mauldin of Monroe, Ga., and Judy Morris of Stafford, Va.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:20 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James T. Reaid

Funeral services for James T. Reaid, 76, of Cullman were Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Andy Coffey and Millard Holmes officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reaid died Sunday, Jan. 18, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 19, 1927, to John and Adie Bowen Reaid. He was a retired carpenter and a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Faye Chandler; and a brother, Roy Reaid.

Survivors include his wife, Ovadie Gray Reaid; three sons, Michael (Sue Ann) Reaid of Commerce, Ga., and Lee Reaid and Billy (Peggy) Reaid, both of Cullman; two daughters, Charlotte (James) Brandon of Cullman and Juanita (Patrick) Pajao of Hilton Head, S.C.; a brother, Tommy Reaid of Athens; five sisters, Maudine Shaw and Frances Pritchard, both of Cullman, Imogene Barfoot of Fultondale, Polly Allard of Michigan and Peggy Hall of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brandi Brandon, Jamie Davis, Jennifer Reaid, Brooke Cornett, Krystal Pajao, Erica Reaid, Ben Reaid and Alexander Pajao; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks Davis and Declan Cornett.

Visitation was Monday.

Hubert Lee Whitaker

Graveside services for Hubert Lee Whitaker, 92, of Hanceville will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Center Hill Cemetery, the Rev. Frank Butts officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Whitaker died Tuesday, Jan. 20 in Hanceville. He was born in Center Hill Oct. 30, 1911 to Jessie Lee and Dura O. Thigpen Whitaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son, Duran (Ruth) Whitaker; two granddaughters, Marlo (Tom) DeMoss and Wendy (Tim) Melton; a grandson, Joel (Jane) Whitaker; four great-grandsons, Skylar DeMoss, Anthony Melton, David Melton and Freeman Whitaker; and a sister, Mary Lou Barnett.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Annie Mae Shults, 93, of Cullman died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Williams-McCracken Funeral Home.

Thelma Lenora Bryan

Funeral services for Thelma Lenora Bryan, 82, of Arab were Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Lemley Chapel in Oneonta, Tim Dubberly officiating, with Burial in New Lebanon Cemetery in Blountsville.

Lemley Chapel of Oneonta was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bryan died Monday, Jan. 19. She was born in Alabama to Richard Coy and Ossie Eveline Sherfield Siggers. She was a homemaker and a member of East Point Church of God in the Semicoe community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Bryan; a son, Lester Vandzandt; her parents; and two sisters, Adell Chase and Rose Mary Kunde.

Survivors include five daughters, Ann Weaver, Peggy (Bernard) Bryan, Betty (Gilbert) Melson, Dean Maddox and Gay (Ricky) Townsend; three sisters, Marlene Butts, Jewel Freeman, Louise Harris; a brother, Leon Siggers; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Nelva J. Johnson

Graveside services for Nelva J. Johnson, 73, of Cullman were Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Garden City Cemetery, the Rev. Roger Whitley officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 5, 1930, to James and Thelma Nelson Anderson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Roland C. Johnson; a son, Randy (Johanna) Johnson; two daughters, Cynthia Johnson and Jennifer Johnson (Greg) Smith; a daughter-in-law, Xonnie Johnson; four grandchildren, Jaythan (Melissa) Johnson, Clancy Johnson (J.D.) Snipes, Taylor Johnson and Tyler Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Sydnee Johnson and Kacey Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Indigent Fund, 501 2nd Ave. SW, Cullman, Ala. 35055 or Hospice of Cullman County, 402 4th Ave. NE, Cullman, Ala. 35055.

No visitation is planned.

Eula P. Westmoreland

Funeral services for Eula P. Westmoreland, 94, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Dewey Sims and Randy Owens officiating, with Burial in Fairview Methodist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Westmoreland died Thursday, Jan. 22, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born March 18, 1909, to Lemic and Nellie Hall Lee. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Terrell Westmoreland; two sons, Royce Earl Westmoreland and Lee Austin Westmoreland; a brother, John Lee; and a son-in-law, Verbon Howard Thompson.

Survivors include two sons, Barnie G. (Michele) Westmoreland and Ronald T. (Jeri) Westmoreland; a daughter, Sarah Thompson, all of Cullman; 12 grandchildren, James Thompson, Jerry Thompson, Barry Thompson, Tim Thompson, Dawn Pomraining, Todd Westmoreland, Troy Westmoreland, Rex Westmoreland, Ray Westmoreland, Rita Townson, Ron Westmoreland and Chris Westmoreland; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Funeral services for Annie Mae Shults, 93, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Oak Level Baptist Church, Junior Wolf officiating, with Burial in Oak Level Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Shults died Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 23, 1910, in Cullman County to George K. and Lou Alma Kritner Federer. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Walton Shults Sr.; a son, Aaron Shults; two brothers, Ocie and Oscar Federer; and two sisters, Clara Pruett and Gertrude Rakestraw.

Survivors include a son, Charlie Walton Shults Jr. of London, England; three daughters, Jacqueline Whitaker of Palmdale, Calif.; Geraldine Osborne of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Sandra Shults of Cullman; two sisters, Flora Lightfoot and Lillian Keese, both of Oak Level; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Clara Louise Thomas

Funeral services for Clara Louise Thomas, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born May 26, 1922, in Tallapoosa, Ga., to Herman and Ruby Mulkey Dial. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis F. Thomas of Cullman; four daughters, Geraldine (Alvin) Fortner and Denise (John) McCrary, both of Hanceville, Evelyn (Tom) Royer of Decatur and Pat (Jerry) Roberts of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Wendy Jenkins, Christine Roberts, Jerry Roberts Jr. and Kenneth Fortner; and three great-grandchildren, Michaela Jenkins, Logan Roberts and Ethen Roberts.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

James E. Gray

Funeral services for James E. Gray, 77, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Mountain Grove Baptist Church near Blountsville, Jerry Hackney officiating, with Burial in South Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gray died Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham. He was born in Randolph County to Joe and Ida Bell Mize Gray. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II. He was a retired mill rite with Conners Steel in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Gray; his parents; three brothers, Willie Gray, Walter Gray and Ray V. Gray; three sisters, Beatrice McCrary, Inez Roy and Lois Butts; and his stepmother, Eula Gray.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheila K. Gray of Blountsville; a brother, Herald Gray of Trussville; and five sisters, Eula Mae Neal of Holly Pond, Effie Lee Pitts, Bobbie Pitts and Willie Kate Fowler, all of Pinson, and Ruth Smith of Cullman.

Pallbearers will be Joe Gray, Larry Simmons, Norman Fleming, Ed Pitts, M.C. Davis and Danny Lawrence.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Opal Dee Jones

Memorial services for Opal Dee Jones, 84, of Logan will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Debbie Williams officiating.

Mrs. Jones died Friday, Jan. 23, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Stonewall, Okla., to Oscar Melton and Mary Brannon Henderson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Welborn Hardy Jones; two brothers, Cleo and Lee Henderson; and three sisters, Minnie Ellis, Lora Jones and Jewell Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary D. (Brelan) Knighten of Logan; a sister, Flora Holkum of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Wishon, Tracy (Paul) Kimbrough and Brelan Jason (Carrie) Knighten; and nine great-grandchildren, Kendra, Christopher, Matthew, Joshua, Kayla, Kandis, Kamron, Jacob and Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

John A. Novara

Funeral services for John A. Novara, 66, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Tim Junkin officiating, with Burial in Bethlehem East Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Novara died Friday, Jan. 23, in Hanceville. He was born July 31, 1937, in St. Louis to Antonio Vincent and Bertha Lucille Reynolds Novara.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Novara.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Novara of Hanceville; one son, Tony A. (Janie) Novara of Hanceville; four sisters, Rose Pack of Columbia, S.C., and Toni Allen, Etta Rigiio and Pat Weaver, all of St. Louis; one brother, Michael Talarico of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
