Claud A. Kelley

Funeral services for Claud A. Kelley, 87, of Center Point will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel in Birmingham with Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Ridout's Roebuck Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelley died Wednesday, Jan. 28. He was a HAM radio operator and was retired from Stewart Machine Co.

Survivors include his wife, Adelaide Kelley; one son, Ray Kelley; a daughter, Susan Sorrell; and three grandchildren, Lee Sorrell Jr., Tiffany Sorrell Marsh and Nicole Kelley.

Visitation was Friday.

James Pennington

Funeral services for James Pennington, 45, of Sulligent, of the Discovery Center, were Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Otts Funeral Chapel, Glenn Hughes officiating, with Burial in Sulligent City Cemetery.

Otts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pennington died Wednesday, Jan. 28. He was born Nov. 5, 1958, in Pascagoula, Miss., to James Alus and Shirley Litton Pennington. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pascagoula. As a youngster, Mr. Pennington was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He worked in the yard crew for North West Mental Health.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Rodgers of Falkville; his stepfather, Willie Rodgers of Falkville; two sisters, Susie Rodgers of Alexander City and Anna Staton of Falkville; and a niece, Jessica Harris of Pelham.

Johnny Frank Self

Funeral services for Johnny Frank Self, 62, of Warrior will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home, with Burial in Crossroads Baptist Cemetery in West Point.

Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Self died Thursday, Jan. 29. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard CVA-31. He was a member of the World Famous Golden Dragons.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Self of Cullman; two sons, Josh Wilson and Ross Self, both of Warrior; two daughters, Tammy (David) Turner of Athens and Kelly Self of Warrior; two sisters, Betty Bullock of Birmingham and Virginia (Ronald) Pattillo of Cullman; a brother, David N. (Debbie) Self of Cullman; five grandchildren; and special friends, Barbara Wilson, Jason Bibb, Stacy Pilkington and Dell Gore.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tressie Mae Holt

Funeral services for Tressie Mae Holt, 75, of Winter Haven, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, Martin Long officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holt died Thursday, Jan. 29, at her residence. She was born January 6, 1929, in Cullman County to Emerson and Dolly Dimple Bryant Weaver. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Nimarie Boatright; two sons, Jimmy Knight Collins and Tony Lynn Collins, one grandson, Coy Boatright; six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Floyd Collins, Rickey (Brenda) Collins and Jamie (Mary) Collins, all of Florida, and Bruce (Mary) Collins of Baileyton; two daughters, Dolly Kelley and Jackie (Rex) Cobb, both of Florida; two brothers, Billy Ray Weaver and Grady Weaver, both of Cullman; two sisters, Polly Margaret Weaver and Mary Ruth Weaver, both of Blountsville; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jeremy Roy 'Sully' Sullivan

Funeral arrangements for Jeremy Roy "Sully" Sullivan, 14, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date. Jerry Hall will officiate and Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sullivan died Saturday, Jan. 31, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1989, in Oakland County, Michigan. He was an eighth-grade student at Fairview Middle School.

Survivors include his parents, Craig Alan and Tracy Farmer Cadle of Cullman; grandmother, Kathleen J. Farmer; great-grandparents, Val Mow and L.D. and Janice Cadle; great-aunt and great-uncle, Harold and Sharon Morgan from Cullman; one brother, Joshua Michael Sullivan; two sisters, Rachel Nicole Farmer and Kimberly Taylor Farmer, and a special friend, Amanda M. Conway.

Harlan David Hollingsworth

Funeral services for Harlan David Hollingsworth, 73, of Opelika, formerly of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Tommy Graves officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hollingsworth died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Woodland Village Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1930, to Claude B. and Leetha Mae Tolbert Hollingsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sammy Hollingsworth.

Survivors include his stepmother, Darlene Vernon; two brothers, Clarance Hollingsworth and Paul Hollingsworth; four half brothers, Adam Hollingsworth, Matthew Vernon, Richard Vernon and Joseph Vernon; three sister, Betty Wilson, Gene Skeen and Pat Hinkle; five half sisters, Marie Moore, Lucy Upchurch, Christina Thrower, Catherine Crawford and Darlene Vernon.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today.

Jack Kohl

Funeral services for Jack Kohl of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Kohl died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.

Moss-Service is in charge of arrangements.

Rickey James Knighten

A memorial service for Rickey James Knighten, 50, of Vinemont will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Bill Partridge presenting the eulogy and Pastor Howard Wolffe officiating. Burial was at Hamby's Chapel Cemetery in Eva. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

Shelton Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Knighten died Friday, Jan. 23, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born March 30, 1953, in Cullman to Ernest James and Ruby Faye Anderson Knighten. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and a cousin, Linda Knighten Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie Tilley Knighten; one son, Rickey James Knighten Jr. of Vinemont; one daughter, Amy Knighten of Vinemont; two sisters, Wanda Knighten Gambrell Latham and Kathy Sue Knighten Gray Pyron, both of Decatur; four cousins, Gregory Knighten of El Paso, Texas, Charlotte Ecklund of Madison and Sharon Painter and Dana Knighten, both of Cullman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes. Association, the American Cancer Society and the American Kidney Foundation.

Evie Cleoria Allen

Funeral services for Evie Cleoria Allen, 86, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Jimmy Baker officiating, with Burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen died Sunday, Feb. 1, at Cullman Health Care Center. She was born July 17, 1916, in Georgia to Thomas and Fannie Crane Golden. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Royal William Strong and Jim T. Allen; two sons, J.E. Strong and Windel Strong; a granddaughter, Wanda Strong; a grandson, James Strong; three brothers, Leroy Golden, Howard Golden and G.T. Golden; and one sister, Evelyn Johnson.

Survivors include three sons, Donnie (Linda) Strong and Larry Strong, both of Cullman, and Hubert (Kathy) Strong of Birmingham; two daughters-in-law, Mary Strong and Carolyn Strong, both of Cullman; two sisters, Nelly (Johnny) Tyree and Dot Stidham, both of Cullman; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Melvin Clyde Fortenbury

A private funeral service will be held for Melvin Clyde Fortenbury, 61, of Eva.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fortenbury died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his residence. He was born Jan. 20, 1943 in Jefferson County to Alfred Hudson and Verna Honeycutt Fortenbury.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Edward Fortenbury and Tommy Fortenbury; one sister, Violet Davis; and two half-sisters, Eunice Carver and Myrtle Lynn Seigle.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Fortenbury; two sons, Melvin D. Fortenbury and Eddie Fortenbury; two daughters, Marie Hurdon and Erica Crandall; two brothers, Zach Fortenbury and Helton Fortenbury; five sisters, Iwana Studdard, Christine Phillips, Bonnie Jean Lavendar, Rebecca Richardson and Peggy Fortenbury; and six grandchildren.

Lois Virginia Kent

Funeral services for Lois Virginia Kent, 66, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Rayburn Jones and Carol Drinkard officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kent died Sunday, Feb. 1, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Smith County, Tenn., to Dewey B. and Maudie Comstock.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Robert Kent; one son, Darrell Akers Jr.; one daughter, Linda Kay White; and one brother, Bobby Comstock.

Survivors include her mother; one son, Dewey (Connie) Akers; three daughters, Pat (Donald) Jones, Carlene Farr and Diane (J.M.) Phillips; one brother, Eddie Comstock; one sister, Marie Draper; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Jeremy Roy 'Sully' Sullivan

Funeral services for Jeremy Roy "Sully" Sullivan, 14, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Jerry Hall officiating, with Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Sullivan died Saturday, Jan. 31, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1989, in Oakland County, Mich. He was an eighth-grade student at Fairview Middle School and a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and Youth Group.

Funeral services for Geraldine Langley, 61, of Garden City will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Ronnie Cason and Vernon Alvis officiating, with Burial in New Prospect Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Langley died Saturday, Jan. 31, in Jasper. She was born in Alabama on July 9, 1942 to Glydas Henry and Lola Ives Humphries.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (Wayne) Livingston and Pam (Dale) Patrick, both of Cullman; son, David Tubbs of Cullman; two brothers, Raymond Humphries and Richard Humphries, both of Ft. Payne; six grandchildren;, Misty (Randy) Bland, Brandon (Kristina) Dover, Justin Dover, Candy Hamrick, Stacey Wilkins and Bruce Brooks; and six great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Bland, Tyler Bland, Olivia Bland, Cortlin Dover, Jayethen Dover and Kaidyn Dover.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

L.C. Langley

Funeral services for L.C. Langley, 72, of Garden City will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Ronnie Cason and Vernon Alvis officiating, with Burial in Livingston Tabernacle.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Langley died Saturday, Jan. 31, in Jasper. He was born in Alabama on April 24, 1931 to L.C. and Golden Savannah Campbell Langley.

Survivors include his three sons, Calvin Langley, Eugene Langley, both of Blountsville, Kenneth Langley of Hanceville; two daughters, Lindy Rauch of Baileyton, Geraldine Smith of Garden City; brother, Jerry Langley of Dodge City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harry Moshe Mills

Graveside services for Harry Moshe Mills, 80, of Center Hill were held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville, Ed Flaig officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mills died Sunday, Feb. 1, in Hanceville. He was born July 7, 1923, in Vienna Austria, to Otto and Elsie Thurman Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Christine Weitzner of Hanceville.
