Hazel Avery Stricklin

Funeral services for Hazel Avery Stricklin, 86, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Addington Chapel, Paul Campbell and Dillion Calvert officiating, with Burial in Addington Chapel Cemetery in Bremen. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stricklin died Monday, Feb. 9, in Bremen. He was born April 20, 1917, in Cullman County to Ottis and Cordie Calvert Stricklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Olvin Stricklin, Olen Stricklin, Tom Stricklin, Dewitt Stricklin and an infant brother who died at birth.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Stricklin of Bremen; one daughter, Bobbie (Tommy) Parker of Bremen; one son, Gerald (Gilda) Stricklin of Cullman; three sisters, Helen Buttram, Doris (Rayvee) Harbison and Bonnie Ward, all of Gardendale; three grandchildren, Brad (Timmi) Parker, Bruce (Marlene) Parker and Ginger (Anthony) Sams; and four great-grandchildren, Heath Parker, Paige Parker, Nick Parker and Ciara Parker.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Edigna Ann Ratliff

Funeral services for Edigna Ann Ratliff, 68, of Cullman will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Seventh Street Preservation Church, the Rev. Millard Mann and Dr. Scott Harris officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ratliff died Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born Jan. 18, 1936, to John Hardy Sr. and Athalene Heck Edwards. She was a teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ratliff; a daughter, Gina Ann Ratliff; and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Robyn (Steve) Moore and Holly (Chris) Murphree, both of Cullman; a brother, Johnny Edwards Jr. of Cashiers, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Brittany Moore, Caitlin Moore, Matthew Murphree and Samuel Murphree.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Lee Roy Nobinger

Funeral services for Lee Roy Nobinger, 69, of Baileyton will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Fairview First Baptist Church, David Chambers officiating, with Burial in Fairview Baptist Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nobinger died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at his residence. He was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Cullman to John Henry and Inez Haines Nobinger. He was a cattle and dairy farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean Bentley Nobinger of Baileyton; one son, Donnie (Tess) Nobinger of Cullman; two daughters, Gina Nobinger of Birmingham and Teresa Nobinger (Kenneth) Shaw of Alabaster; four brothers, Coy Nobinger and Bill Nobinger, both of Cullman, Eugene Nobinger of Falkville and Kenneth Nobinger of Baileyton; three sisters, Donella Haynes of Falkville and Dovilla Gardner and Sandra Kelly, both of Cullman; and three grandchildren, Travis Nobinger of Cullman and Wesley Shaw and Jennifer Shaw, both of Alabaster.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Melinda Kay Allen

Funeral services for Melinda Kay Allen, 37, of Hartselle were Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Ted Agee and Wendell Callahan officiating, with Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen died Monday, Feb. 9, at her residence. She was born March 29, 1966, in Morgan County. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Buford L. "Junior" Allen Jr. of Hartselle; two sons, Dustin King and Zachary Allen, both of Hartselle; her father, Kenneth Smith of Vinemont; her mother, Linda Miller of Falkville; and two brothers, Lynn Estes of Decatur and Eric Estes of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Allen's friends.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Margaret Thigpen Basenberg

Memorial services for Margaret Thigpen Basenberg, 81, of Spanish Fort will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Cullman, the Rev. Robert W. Gunn officiating, with Burial at Hopewell Cemetery. A program of music by Patrick Williams will be at 10:30 a.m.

Pine Crest Funeral Homes and Cemeteries in Mobile is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Basenberg died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at her residence. She was born June 12, 1922, in Hanceville to Claude Hood and Ruby Gibbs Thigpen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Christopher Basenberg; and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Donald W. Basenberg of Birmingham and Joe E. (Jean Alice) Basenberg of Mobile; and two grandchildren, Anne Katherine Basenberg of San Diego, Calif., and Jensen Thigpen Basenberg, now a senior at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Cullman.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at the church.

Lewis Clifford Keller

Funeral services Lewis Clifford Keller, 90, of Columbus, Ga. will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel, the Rev. John Boyer officiating, with Burial in Parkhill Cemetery.

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Keller died Tuesday, Feb. 10, at his residence. He was born June 28, 1913, in Cullman County to John Burton and Winnie Morgan Keller. He lived in Columbus most of his life and was a charter member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, where he was a former trustee. He was one of the first 100 state troopers in Alabama and was retired from Central of Georgia Railroad Company as an engineer after 39 years. For more than 50 years he served as a master mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Driver Keller of Columbus; five children, Susan K. Lockwood of Phenix City, Burton (Gina) Keller of Columbus, Nancy (Gene) Barker of Gaithersburg, Md., Steve (Cindy) Keller of Midland, Ga., and Anne Keller of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Courtney (Kyle) Sloan and Allison Keller, both of Midland, Adam Keller and Jonathan Keller, both of Columbus, and Bradley Barker of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Agnes Cobb of Cullman and Judy Self of Decatur; and a brother, Clyde Keller of Gadsden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Morningside Presbyterian Church, 4142 Weems Road, Columbus, Ga. 31909.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elva Hill Graham

Funeral services for Elva Hill Graham, 97, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Center Grove Baptist Church, Jerry Hall officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graham died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at her home. She was born Jan. 18, 1907, in Heard County, Ga., to Thomas A. and Martha Webb Hill. She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens group of Center Grove Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Fred Graham.

Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn (Ted) Powe, Othell (Hollis) Reid and Melvorie (Johnny) Mead, all of Cullman; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Herman) Loyd, Judy Guthrie, Randy (Jill) Powe, Regina Powe, Michael Reid, Gregory (Tammi) Reid, Johnny (Carol) Mead, Joe (Diane) Mead and Jackie (Doris) Mead; 14 great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Patricia Hale.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Huelon W. Kinney

Funeral services for Huelon W. Kinney, 69, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Eva Baptist Church, the Revs. Phillip Robinson and Connie Bolan officiating, with Burial in the Lawrence Cove Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kinney died Thursday, Feb. 12, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Morgan County to Gilbert and Clair Puckett Kinney. He was a member of Eva Baptist Church and was the original owner of Kinneys Auto Glass in Hartselle until his retirement. He was a trustee for Lawrence Cove Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hyland Kinney and Haskel Kinney.

Survivors include his wife, Iree Kinney of Eva; two daughters, Sherry (Cliff) Barger of Acworth, Ga., and Lori (Mike) Peden of Eva; a sister, Shirley Johnson of Eva; seven grandchildren, James (Christy) Barger, Jeff (Wendy) Barger, Josh (Tracy) Marshall, Phillip (Rosie) Marshall, Patrick Huelon Marshall, Phillip (Amanda) Peden and Vanessa Peden.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hazel Mabel McSwain

Funeral services for Hazel Mabel McSwain, 82, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Mark Mayo and Sam Harton officiating, with Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Crane Hill.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McSwain died Friday, Feb. 13, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1921, in Alabama to Edward and Modenia Grimmitt Williams. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Lee McSwain; five brothers, Herman, Billy, Virgil, Clyde and Cordes Williams; and two sisters, Bertie Mae Calvert and Verla Taylor.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Faye Calvert and Edna Jo (J.R.) Dodd; three sisters, Oleta Campbell, Merle McSwain and Coleen Campbell; three grandchildren, Wayne Calvert, Ricky (Anna) Calvert and Doug (Tammy) Calvert; and three great-grandchildren, Kami, Kyle and Meredith Ann Calvert.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

Theodore Fred Schmuck

Funeral services for Theodore Fred Schmuck, 69, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Sacred Heart Church, Father Kevin McGrath officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schmuck died Friday, Feb. 13, at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Alabama to Frank and Theresa Link Schmuck. He was a machine operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Delores June Schmuck; four daughters, Ginger Ann Reid, Theresa Marie Brown, Doris June Barbee and Pamela Ruth Perez; a sister, Anna Maddox; a brother, Martin Schmuck; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was Friday; a rosary was held at this time.

Rilla Marie Rodgers

Funeral services for Rilla Marie Rodgers, 86, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Jones Chapel First Baptist Church, Jason Rodgers, Jerry Lake and Daniel Tidwell officiating, with Burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rodgers died Friday, Feb. 13, at her residence. She was born June 14, 1917, in Cullman County to Early and Monie Turner Barnett. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Rodgers; a son, Larry Dale Rodgers; five brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Crystal (Norman) Seymore, Betty Burden and Hilda (Steve) Rodgers; a sister, Ruby Gilbreath; four grandchildren, Jason (Rita) Rodgers, John (Hilary) Rodgers, Kathy (Larry) Clark and Karen Grimes; four great-grandchildren, Carrie Gillespie, Trent Gobble, Lance Smith and Tyler Grimes; three great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Gillespie, Mary Grace Gillespie and Weston Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Brodie Keith Thompson

Graveside services for Brodie Keith Thompson, infant, of Arley will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Meek Baptist Church Cemetery.

He died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at UAB Hospital. He was born the same day.

Survivors include his parents, Keith and Tiffany Thompson of Arley; a brother, Peyton Thompson of Arley; grandparents, Sarah Lindsey of Cullman, Johnny Thompson and O'Neal and Debbie Talley, all of Arley; and great-grandparents, Alice Talley, Cecil and Louise Baxley, R.C. and Betty Thompson, all of Arley, and Dallas Pigg of Addison.
