SARA I. SPRADLIN

STERRETT — Funeral service for Sara I. Spradlin, 76, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brashers Chapel with the Rev. Mike Widman and the Rev. Jerome Ganey officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Spradlin died Dec. 21.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Howard of Sterrett, Fay Grimes of Westover, Sue Hannah of Vandiver, Bessie Kromer of Childersburg, Wayne Spradlin of Pell City and Wade Spradlin of Westover; sister, Ruby Nell Oglesby of Bessemer; brothers, Donald and Herschel Gardner of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home in Columbiana will direct the service.

BERTHA L. TWYMON

TALLADEGA — Bertha L. Twymon, 71, of 26530 Alabama Highway 21 South, died Dec. 23 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

SARAH ELEANOR WALL

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Sarah Eleanor Wall, 88, formerly of Talladega and Graceville, Fla., will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Anniston. Graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville, Fla.

Mrs. Wall died Dec. 23 at her residence. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Anniston and the Neysa Coker Sunday School Class. She was previously a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Talladega and First United Methodist Church in Graceville, Fla. She was a graduate of Slocomb High School and was a retired beautician. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wall; a son, Danny Wall; her parents, Foy Hinson and Fannie Pippen Hinson and sisters, Thelma Eubanks, Clyde Harper, Annie Lou Parris and Ruth Davis.

She is survived by sons, David Wall of Alexandria and Barry Wall of Deland, Fla.; sisters, Bobbie Sellers of Hueytown, Audrey Binney of Trussville and Catherine Smelley of Greensboro; brother, Carl Hinson of Overland Park, Kans.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in Anniston and Friday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at James and Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville, Fla.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Members of Neysa Coker Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Anniston or to the Anniston Public Library.

Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in Anniston will direct the service.

JOHNNY FRANK MCGHEE JR.

DETROIT — Funeral service for Johnny Frank McGhee Jr., 57, formerly of Talladega, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Glorious Church of God.

Mr. McGhee died Dec. 21 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Johnny Frank McGhee, and four children.

He is survived by his wife, Lezell Moten McGhee of Detroit; four daughters, JoAnn McGhee, Jan McGhee, Janice McGhee Hatchett and Jewell L. McGhee, all of Detroit; four sons, Johnny F. McGhee, James F. McGhee, Joseph F. McGhee and Jacob F. McGhee, all of Detroit; four sisters, Mary B. Calhoun of Chicago, Lisa Garrett of Birmingham, Shirley Wilson and Rose M. Haynes, both of Talladega; four brothers, Gordon Garrett, Alphonza Garrett, Willie C. Garrett and Melvin Garrett, all of Talladega; and three grandchildren.

McFall Brothers Funeral Home will direct the service.

WILLIE BROWN BOWMAN

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Willie Brown Bowman, 93, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Lee, the Rev. Bill Ayers and the Rev. Herman Cowan officiating. Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery.

Mrs. Bowman died Dec. 22.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Pell City. She was a member of the Young at Heart Club and the oldest member at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Her life was exemplified by the words found in Proverbs 31:28-31: “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Mittie Vaughn Brown; her husband, Emris Austin Bowman; one son, Loyd A. Bowman; one grandson, Wade Wright; two sons-in-law, John Realmuto and Donald Wright; and one daughter-in-law, Annette Barber Bowman.

She is survived by eight daughters, Mittie Williams and her husband Richard, Bernice Realmuto, Laura Ann Bowman, Annette Hendrix and her husband Charles, Christine Bradshaw and her husband Kenneth, all of Pell City, Helen Wright of College Park, Ga., Pattie Nell Ryder and her husband John of Keene, Texas, and Paulette Blomeley and her husband Lewis of San Antonio; five sons, Raymond Bowman and his wife Rosalyn of Pell City, Aaron Bowman of Birmingham, Harold L. Bowman of Madison, Tenn., Paul Lee Bowman and his wife Frances of Lincoln and Robert Wayne Bowman and his wife Jewell of Mobile; one sister, Louise Tomlin of Pell City; one brother, Eugene Brown and his wife Hazel of Cropwell; two sisters-in-law, Lola Brown and Pearl Brown, both of Pell City; 44 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Williams, Bill Wright, Charles Bowman, Russ Realmuto, Dwight Bradshaw, Buddy Bowman, Aaron Bowman Jr. and Chuck Davis.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Mineral Springs Baptist Church for one hour prior to the service.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.

EDWARD LEWIS EDMONDSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Edward Lewis Edmondson, 80, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Greg Webb officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Edmondson died Dec. 23 at his residence. He was a member of Mason Lodge 929 for more than 45 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Edmondson of Sylacauga; three stepdaughters, Kay Nix of Sylacauga, Sue Williams of Talladega Springs and Myra Burke of Fayetteville; three brothers, James Edmondson, Thomas D. Edmondson and Bennett Edmondson, all of Fayetteville; one sister, Nell Stansell of Muscle Shoals; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

J.D. ELLIS

ASHLAND — Funeral service for J.D. Ellis, 66, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Lineville. Burial will be in Old Field Cemetery.

Mr. Ellis died Dec. 21. He was born in Jefferson County to the late Winfield Ellis and Essie Mae Lindsey Ellis.

He is survived by his wife, Henry Sue Ellis; five daughters, Vivan Gillis and her husband Harold of Long Island, N.Y., Annie Ellis of Mendhall, Miss., Agnes Glenn and her husband Bernard and Sonya Valdes and her husband Jose, both of Ashland, and Natalie Ellis of Homewood; five sons, Tony Von Ellis of Ashland, Michael James Turman of Ashland, Gerald Ellis of Washington, D.C., Jayron Ellis of Lineville, and Timothy Ellis and his wife Melissa of Ashland; three sisters, Annie Pattillo, Odessa Reid and Susie Turman, all of Carrollton, Ga.; one brother, Earnest Turman of Carrollton, Ga.; and host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Amour’s Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

TALLADEGA — Barbara Fannin died Dec. 25 in Birmingham.

TALLADEGA — Gladys Franklin died Dec. 25 in Talladega.

TALLADEGA — Mary Gurley died Dec. 25 in Talladega.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home Inc.

J.D. HILL

LINEVILLE — Funeral service for J.D. Hill, 77, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. Harris and the Rev. Chester Craft officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Hill died Dec. 24 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Randolph County and had lived in Atlanta and Marrietta, Ga., for more than 31 years. He was owner and operator of S and M Clutch, a brake and clutch manufacturing company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and member and trustee of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret G. Hill of Lineville; two daughters, Jennetta Boring and her husband Bob of Lineville and Avice Fargason and her husband Jimmy of Mellow Valley; two sons, Fred Hill and his wife Catherine of Lineville and Greg Hill of Dalton, Ga.; three sisters, Vivian Arguella, Sarah Ann Griffin and Hilda Duke, all of Lineville; three brothers, T.F. Hill of Wedowee, Holly Hill of Talladega and Gene Hill of Lineville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Justin Fargason, Tony Hill, J.D. Hill III, Stacy Cantrell, Todd Smith, Terry Hill, Billy Dennison and Billy Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home and Friday until one hour prior to service time. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before service time.

Benefield Funeral Home will direct the service.

EUNICE OZELL ISBELL

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Eunice Ozell Isbell, 77, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Echols officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Isbell died Dec. 23. She was a native of St. Clair County, where she lived most of her life. She was a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ed” Isbell, her parents, L.A. and Elsie Kendrick Shirley, and one grandson, Jeffery Gaither.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise Tollison and her husband L.E. and Brenda Gaither and her husband Louie, all of Pell City; one son, Eddie Isbell and his wife Mary of Pell City; two sisters, Lillian Kemp and Johnnie Hallman, both of Pell City, seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.
