Elwin Carlen Milligan

Funeral services for Elwin Carlen Milligan, 67, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Milligan died Friday, March 26.

Catherine Jones Turner

Memorial services for Catherine Jones Turner, 57, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at First Baptist Church in the fireside room, Jim Cagle officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turner died Thursday, March 25, at her residence. She was a 1967 graduate of Auburn University. She had been a resident of Cullman since 1971. She served as a family and children's services social worker with Cullman County Dept. of Human Resources for 25 years until her retirement in 2003. While there she was twice honored by staff and Cullman County DHR foster parents as foster care worker of the year. She was a 31-year charter member and past president of Second Century Women's League. She was also actively involved in the Cullman County Foster Parents Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served several years as a youth Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Mrs. James O. Jones of Montgomery; and her husband, M. Wayne Turner.

Survivors include her stepmother, Ann S. Jones; her daughter, Julie Williamson (Phillip) Whatley of Columbia, Tenn.; two sons, Jeb (Lanie) Williamson of Birmingham and Matthew Turner of Cullman; two grandchildren, Jacob and Grace Whatley of Columbia, Tenn.; two sisters, Betty (Garry) Faulkner of Batavia, Ill. and Carol (Jim) Taylor of Montgomery; five nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mark Gregath-Sharon Franey Smith memorial foster care fund at Cullman County Dept. of Human Resources, P.O. Box 990, Cullman, Ala. 35056; the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division, Inc., Cullman County Unit, P.O. R. Mae Skinner

Funeral services for R. Mae Skinner, 76, of Cullman will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Revs. Vernon Willis and David Tidwell officiating, with Burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Skinner died Thursday, March 25, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Cullman County to Robert Lee and Cora Lee Willis Thornton. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Leo "L.L." Skinner; five brothers, Franklin D. Roosevelt Thornton, Ebb Thornton, Orvil Thornton, Joseph Wesley Thornton and Edward Arnel Thornton; and five sisters, I.V. Vaughn, Nora Lee Burke, Ettie Melrice Thornton, Elzie Tabitha Eddy and Ethel Susana Dye.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Joe (Cathy) Skinner and Thomas Edward "Tom" (Diane) Skinner, both of Cullman; a daughter, Margaret Ann Bell of Cullman; two brothers, Aaron (Velvie) Thornton and Welcome Coil (Vera) Thornton, both of Cullman; a sister, L.E. Harris of Crane Hill; a sister-in-law, Othera Thornton of Cullman; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

Leborn Nefie Baker

Funeral services for Leborn Nefie Baker, 54, of Nesmith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, with Burial in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Helicon.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Baker died Thursday, March 25, in Nesmith. He was born June 14, 1949, in Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Alvin Baker.

Survivors include a son, Steve Baker; a daughter, Stacy McCain; his mother, Dorothy Baker; five brothers, Charles Baker, Billy Baker, Eddy Baker, Donald Baker and Jerry Baker; two sisters, Mary Cleghorn and Kathy Steele; and two grandchildren, Brooke McCain and Dalton McCain.

Visitation was Friday.

Edna Geraldine 'Geri' Kersey

Funeral services for Edna Geraldine "Geri" Kersey of Lynn Haven, Fla., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Panama City, Fla., the Rev. John Whitley officiating, with Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Wilson Funeral Home of Panama City is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kersey died Thursday, March 25, at her residence. She was a Bay County, Fla., school teacher for 33 years, teaching at St. Andrew and Springfield Elementary Schools. She graduated from Attapulgus High School in Georgia in 1951 and Valdosta State in 1955. She was a resident of Bay County since 1955, moving to Bay from Valdosta. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Kersey of Lynn Haven; a son, Preston (Charlotte) Kersey of Panama City Beach; a sister-in-law, Patricia K. Valle of Panama City; and five grandchildren, Leslie Kersey, Alan Kersey, Trey Kersey, Christopher Schoeller, Joey Schoeller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Andrew United Methodist Church building fund, 2001 West 11th St., Panama City, Fla. 32401.

Robin Lee Queen

Funeral services for Robin Lee Queen, 47, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Rafter Friends Church in Tennessee, the Rev. Richard Lane officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Biereley-Hale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Queen died Thursday, March 25, at Sweetwater Hospital in Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Ralph Queen; and his grandfather, William Hardy Queen.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Queen; a daughter, Nicolette Lee Queen of Madisonville, Tenn.; his mother, Marie Queen of Cullman; a sister, Rose (Bobby) Bookout of Madisonville, Tenn.; a brother, Randy Queen of Cullman; three sisters-in-law, Vanessa Lee, Robin Atkins and Kim Holcomb; and a brother-in-law, Chris Shutt, all of Madisonville, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Omiga Sue England

Funeral services for Omiga Sue England, 69, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Jones Chapel First Baptist Church, Junior Rodgers officiating, with Burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. England died Saturday, March 27, at her residence. She was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Cullman County to Thomas D. and Mary Elizabeth Pearson Brown. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward C. Brown and James O. Brown; and two sisters, Opal Skinner and Dean Rodgers.

Survivors include her husband, Thurston England; three sons, Jimmy (Letitia) England, Garry (Bonn) England and Terry England, all of Cullman; two daughters, Donna (Johnny) Scott and Anita (Philip) Wisner, both of Cullman; two brothers, J. P. Brown and Thomas Brown, both of Cullman; four sisters, Sara Brown, Barbara Carpenter, Mittie Carpenter and Miram Parker; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Scott, Debbie Scott, Kim Hall, Emily Scott, Buron Scott, Jason England, Jonathan England, Heath Wisner, Taylor Wisner and Nathanial England; and five great-grandchildren, Whitney Partain, Erin Hall, Magan Hall, Cody Scott and Julia Brown.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Elwin Carlen Milligan, 67, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Ralph Andrews officiating, with Burial in good Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Milligan died Friday, March 26, at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Cullman County to Carlen and Wynell Joyce Brown Milligan. He was a retired fireman captain for the City of Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Robert Elwin Milligan.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Reid Milligan; one son, John (Delane) Milligan of Cullman; his father-in-law, Claud Reid of Cullman; one brother, Kenethy (Thelma) Milligan of Cullman; one sister, Vicki (Billy) Smith of Cullman; and two grandchildren, Katie Milligan and Connor Milligan.

Visitation was Saturday.

Nora E. Cole

Funeral services for Nora E. Cole, 80, of Garden City, are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Mrs. Cole died Thursday, March 25.

Kittie Mae Hazelrig

Graveside services for Kittie Mae Hazelrig, 78, of Hayden, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Oak Grove Cemetery, the Revs. Terry Lynn and O.L. Chambliss officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hazelrig died Saturday, March 27, in Hanceville. She was born April 2, 1925, in Bangor, to William Grigery and Ruby Washburn Brazeel. She was a lifelong resident of Blount County, living in Hayden and the Oak Grove community, and she was a member of Hayden Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary Hazelrig; three brothers, Carl Brazeel, James Brazeel and Clarence Brazeel; and two sisters, Dorene Sargent and Nelline Nelly.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Randall) Campbell of Gardendale and Nancy Liz Hazelrig of Hayden; one son, Terry Hazelrig of Hayden; one brother, Ray Brazeel of West Bloomfield, Mich.; one granddaughter, Kathy Baty of Hayden; and one grandson, Les Campbell of Austin, Texas.

Visitation was Saturday.

Aubrie Saphronia Aderhold Brown

Funeral services for Aubrie Saphronia Aderhold Brown, 88, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with Burial in Bethsadia Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Thursday, March 25. She was born June 25, 1915, to Homer Alexander and Effie Elizbeth Jones Aderhold. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Walter T. Brown of Cary, N.C., and Larry Joe Brown of Lebanon, Tenn.; three daughters, Sue Carol Thomas of Cottondale and Mary Ellen Simmons and Vickie Elizabeth Giles, both of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Harlan Aderhold of Cullman; and a special friend and caregiver, Ruby Fleming.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today.

Maebell Crane

Funeral services for Maebell Crane, 82, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church in Fairview, Samuel Tucker and Jim Butts officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crane died Friday, March 26, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 17, 1921, to William Alcaney and Minnie Dovie Plunkett Tidwell. She was a retired lineworker with Americold.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Crane.

Survivors include one son, Edward Lois (Diane) Crane of Mt. Home, Idaho; five daughters, Gladys Geneva Marchland of Chicago; Joyce Ann (Glen) Brenley of Vinemont; Shirley Joan (Dennis) Ryan of Decatur and Alice Alene White and Linda June (Larry) Harris, both of Cullman; one brother, Johnny Wesley (Alice) Tidwell of Addison; one sister-in-law, Corrine (U.M.) Rush of Somerville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church.

Visitation was Saturday.

Virginia 'Ginny' Garms

Funeral services for Virginia "Ginny" Garms, 74, of Arab will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Jennifer Riddle officiating, with entombment in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garms died Thursday, March 25, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 30, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Henry and Margaret Danaher Suhr. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J. Garms III.

Survivors include one son, John Garms (Wendy Thompson) of Bathesda, Md.; two daughters, Jenny (Roger) Reimann of Cullman and Kathy (Bill) Thompson of Arab; one brother, Edward (Sheila) Suhr of Brooklyn; one sister-in-law, Norman Suhr of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, Kelly Thompson, Lance Garms, Shawn Reimann, Jason Garms, John Thompson and Karl Reimann; and five great-grandchildren, Sophia Garms, Stephen Reimann, Jacob Thompson, Autumn Thompson and Jewell Garms.

Visitation was Saturday.

Laura Rachel Shedd

Funeral services for Laura Rachel Shedd, 61, of Cullman were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Tim Kenney officiating, with Burial in Enon Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Shedd died Monday, March 22, at her residence. She was born April 20, 1942, in Morgan County, to George Louis and Zora Elizabeth Bates Collins. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, William Shedd and Timmy Yates, both of Cullman, and O'Neal Yates of Vinemont; two daughters, Patricia Gulley of Falkville and Rachel Gulley of Cullman; one brother, Lonnie Collins of Lacey's Springs; one sister, Georgia Mae Champion of Cullman; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
