Lola Lorell Bridges

Memorial services for Lola Lorell Bridges, 72, of Huntsville, formerly of Eva, were at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel, Eddie Helton officiating.

Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bridges died Wednesday, March 24. She was born June 10, 1931. She was a retired police officer with the Huntsville Police Department and was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, bowling, gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rowie Bridges.

Survivors include her son, Edwin Bridges of Huntsville; two brothers, Othell Grimmett and Durell Grimmett, both of Crane Hill; four sisters, Mozell Freeman of Panama City, Fla.; Vermell Campbell of Crane Hill; Maybell Waid of Arley; and Loudell Hale of Logan; one granddaughter, Paige Tygret of Fayetteville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Pryor and Katelyn Pryor, both of Huntsville; and Alexander James Tygrett of Fayetteville; and a special friend, Brenda Rogers of Guntersville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the the Huntsville chapter of United Cerebral Palsy, 2075 Max Luther Drive, Huntsville, Ala. 35810, or At Home Hospice, 2329 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, Ala. 35801.

Nora Ellen Cole

Funeral services for Nora Ellen Cole, 80, of Garden City will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home, the Rev. Keith Gambill officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cole died Thursday, March 25. She was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Cullman County to Lawrence and Pearl Hudson Cobb.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert W. Cole; two brothers, Felix Cobb and infant Clark Cobb; three sisters, Olene Shelton, Louise Davis and Evelyn Bradford.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Phyllis) Cole of Falkville and Noah (Susan) Cole of Garden City; three daughters, Sandra Dover of Garden City, Deborah Thornton of Cullman and Dianne Greene of Mt. Olive; two brothers, Oneal Cobb and James Cobb, both of Garden City; a sister, Ruth Garner of Garden City; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elmer William Stewart

Funeral services for Elmer William Stewart, 83, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Sandlin Chapel, the Revs. Lisa Aaron and Wanda Banks officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stewart died Sunday, March 28, in Huntsville. He was born in Aug. 9, 1920, in Alabama to Lonnie and Gertrude Suggs Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Stewart of Bremen; two daughters, Doris Miles of Mt. Olive and Dean Stewart of Bremen; a granddaughter, Tina (Chris) Chasteen; two great-granddaughters, Justice Chasteen and Morgan Chasteen; and 10 siblings, D.L. Stewart and Todd Stewart, both of Holland, Mich.; Margie McGarg of London, Ky.; Donald Stewart and Marvin "Shorty" Stewart, both of Bremen; Effie Misuik and Fay Perkins, both of Athens; Ralph Stewart of Sumiton; Eugene Stewart of North Carolina; and Bessie Hudon of Somerville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Annice Moon

Funeral services for Annice Moon, 84, of Falkville, formerly of Holly Pond, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Holly Pond Funeral Chapel, Dudley Brock and Wendell Allen officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Moon died Sunday, March 28, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Holly Pond to Henry and Venora Butler Moon. She was a homemaker and a member of Holly Pond First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wayne Moon; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Speakman and Max White.

Survivors include two brothers, Bud (Nona Fincher) Moon of Cullman and Larry (Ann Mitchell) Moon of Vinemont; two sisters, Katherine Moon Speakman of Vinemont and Marian Moon White of Cullman; and a sister-in-law, Faye Vest Moon of Hanceville.

Pallbearers will be Phillip White, Kenneth Speakman, Wade Moon, Christopher Jones, Jarrod Speakman and Loring Butler.

Visitation was Monday.

Lucille Woodard Kilpatrick

Funeral services for Lucille Woodard Kilpatrick, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Angeline Anderson officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kilpatrick died Sunday, March 28, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1922, to William and Sarah Stephenson Woodard. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Calvin C. Kilpatrick.

Survivors include a son, Charles (Kathy) Kilpatrick of Fairview; two sisters, Florence Watson of Nesmith and Paulene (Billy) Parker of Bremen; and a grandson, Christopher Kilpatrick of Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Nesmith Methodist Church in honor of William and Sarah Woodard.

Visitation was Monday.

Sandra Kay Buckelew Bates

Funeral services for Sandra Kay Buckelew Bates, 55, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Bethsadia Baptist Church, Marvin Brock officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bates died Sunday, March 28, at her residence. She was born Dec. 5, 1948, in Cullman to Orbie Gladys and Gladys Jeanette Holland Buckelew. She was a fund-raiser, having raised over a million dollars for liver transplants and heart transplants.

Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Carlton Bates of Cullman; three daughters, Amanda K. (Eric) Bates, Kimberly A. (Matthew) Bates and Kristin M. Bates, all of Cullman; four grandchildren, Ashley K. Horton, D. Eren Horton, Kelly A. Horton and Ryne M. Bryant; and two sisters, Nadine B. (Bud) Reed and Wanda (Jimmy) Quick, both of Cullman.

Visitation was Monday.

Virginia 'Ginny' Garms

Funeral services for Virginia "Ginny" Garms, 74, of Arab were Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Jennifer Riddle officiating, with entombment in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garms died Thursday, March 25, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 30, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Henry and Margaret Danaher Suhr. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J. Garms III; and her parents.

Survivors include her son, John (Wendy Thompson) Garms of Bethesda, Md.; two daughters, Ginny (Roger) Reimann of Cullman and Kathy (Bill) Thompson of Arab; a brother, Edward (Sheila) Suhr of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Norma Suhr of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Kelly Thompson, Lance Garms, Shawn Reimann, Jason Garms, John Thompson and Karl Reimann; and five great-grandchildren, Sophia Garms, Stephen Reimann, Jacob Thompson, Autumn Thompson and Julia Garms.

Visitation was Saturday.

O.E. 'Gene' Cargo

Funeral services for O.E. "Gene" Cargo, 72, of Blountsville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Lloyd Watkins and John D. Calloway officiating, with Burial in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cargo died Sunday, March 28, at his residence. He was born in Blount County to Vester and Mae Underwood Cargo. He was a general laborer for Public Works.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hayes Cargo of Blountsville; a son, Johnny Eugene Cargo of Blountsville; and a sister, Betty Shaddrix of Anniston.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Evon Dye Blaylock

Funeral services for Evan Dye Blaylock, 76, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Eva, will be held at a later date.

Woodfin Memorial Chapel of Murfreesboro, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blaylock died Sunday, March 28. She was the daughter of Andrew George and Ethel Chambers Dye. She was a member of the Baptist Church and retired from Nashville Banner-Tennessean.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dewitt, Calvin, Edward and Jerry C. Dye; and three sisters, Ena Mae Kelly, Lonnie Yancey and Winfred Lee Hayes.

Survivors include a son, Dan Blaylock of Manchester, Tenn.; a daughter, Debbie Herndon of Murfreesboro; a brother, Mack Dye of Florida; a niece, Sharon Binkley of Hendersonville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Nashville Cares.

David Franklin Reese

Funeral services for David Franklin Reese, 50, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Ken Allen officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reese died Sunday, March 28, at his residence. He was born Dec. 22, 1953, in Ft. Bragg, N.C. He was the transportation director for Cullman County Road Commission. He was a graduate of Holly Pond High School and St. Bernard Preparatory School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Reid and Margaret Jane Dial Reese.

Survivors include two uncles, James (Margie) Dial of Cullman and Jerry (Marilyn) Dial of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; two aunts, Alice Faye Reese of Cullman and Betty Jo Boone of Laurel Hill, Fla.; and special friend, Rosemary.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Linda June Ferguson

Funeral services for Linda June Ferguson, 59, of Hartselle will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Calvin Westmoreland and Racheal Westmoreland officiating, with Burial in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fergson died Monday, March 29, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 20, 1944, in Cullman. She was a Sunday School Director for Faith Chapel. She worked with people with mental retardation in group home settings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Rex and Roberta Wood Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Freeman Ferguson of Hartselle; three sons, Billy Keith Landers of Charlotte, N.C.; Brian DeWayne Ferguson of Danville; and Gregory Glen Terry of Hartselle; three daughters, Candita Landers Terry of Hartselle, Jami Lynn Landers of Charlotte, N.C., and Marle June Ferguson of Danville; two sisters, Annie Smith of Tuscumbia and Glenda Sue Miller of Tishomingo, Miss; six grandchildren, Bryan Joseph Landers, Crystal Lashae Landers, Mark Eldon Landers, Angela Marie Ferguson, Amber Brittney Terry and Autumn Renee Hanners; and a great-grandson, Austin Hanners.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Landers, Mark Landers, Donnie Johnson, Chuck Miller, John Miller and Tony Miller.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Robin Lee Queen

Funeral services for Robin Lee Queen, 47, of Cullman were Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Rafter Friends Church, the Revs. Richard Lane and Don Harris officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Queen died Thursday, March 25, at Sweetwater Hospital in Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Ralph Queen; and his grandfather, William Hardy Queen.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Queen; a daughter, Nicolette Lee Queen of Madisonville, Tenn.; his mother, Marie Queen of Cullman; a sister, Rose (Bobby) Bookout of Madisonville, Tenn.; a brother, Randy Queen of Cullman; his father- and mother-in-law, Larry and Shirley Lee; three sisters-in-law, Vanessa Lee, Robin Atkins and Kim Holcomb; and a brother-in-law, Chris Shutt, all of Madisonville, Tenn.

Lois Christine Lowery Peters

Funeral services for Lois Christine Lowery Peters of Dora will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at New Horizon Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Jolene Hammick officiating, with Burial in East Dora Cemetery.

New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home of Dora is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peters died Monday, March 29, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. She was employed with Loveman's Department Store for 26 years until her retirement in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her parents, T.E. and Minnie Lowery; a brother, Bill Lowery; and a sister, Ruth Lawler.

Survivors include a daughter, Yonnie (James) Manley of Hanceville; two brothers, Thomas "Bud" Lowery and Clarence (Rochelle) Lowery, both of Dora; two sisters, Mattie Boshell of Houston, Texas, and Louise McKinney of Decatur, Ga.; three grandchildren, Todd and Jason Manley of Madison and Kristin (Mark) Pettus of Cullman; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Kara Pettus.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
