Wilma Dean Dyer

Funeral services for Wilma Dean Dyer, 58, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Flint Creek Baptist Church, W.C. Green and Perry Brown officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dyer died Thursday, Sept. 9, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1946, in Cullman County.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orrie O. Young.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Dyer of Vinemont; her mother, Ruby Collum Dyer; two sons, Jason Dyer and Andrew (Kathy) Dyer of Vinemont; three brothers, Bill Young and Mark Young, both of Cullman, and Joe Young of Vinemont; two sisters, Jean Leipert of Cullman and Carol Thompson of South Carolina; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Sarah and Emily Dyer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vinemont Elementary Reading Program.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thurman Laney

Funeral services for Thurman Laney, 80, of Decatur will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, J.J. Blackwood officiating, with Burial at Central Baptist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Laney died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 23, 1924, to James Wesley and Alma Roberts Laney. He was a fork truck driver for General Electric.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mae Griggs Laney.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Miner Laney of Decatur; two brothers, Dwight (Sandra) Laney and Tommy (Sherry) Laney, both of Cullman; five sisters, Mervil Smith of Cullman, Faye (Jimmy) Dillon of Norwood, Ohio; Flora Basenberg of Hanceville; Carolyn Alvis of Cullman and Grace (Larry) Johnsey of Mt. Olive; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 216 Johnston Street, Decatur, Ala. 35601.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Calvin Lecil Skinner

Funeral services for Calvin Lecil Skinner, 74, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating, with Burial in Powell's Chapel Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Skinner died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Alabama to Emmit Clifford and Lillie Connally Skinner. He was a machine operator with Americold Compressor Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Regina (Garry) Rodgers; a son, Lecil (Linda) Skinner; two brothers, Bobby Skinner and Alton Skinner; a sister, Frances Casey; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday.

Rev. B.B. Isley Sr.

Funeral services for the Rev. B.B. Isley Sr., 94, of Hartselle will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Hartselle, Dr. Jeff Redmond and Charles Shaddix officiating, with Burial in Hartselle City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. Isley died Thursday, Sept. 9, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1909, in Morgan County to Walter Branson and Lizzie Breedlove Isley. He served as a Baptist minister from 1945 to 1974 and from 1974 to 2000 served as interim pastor for over 30 churches in North Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie W. Isley; a brother, Gladston Isley; and five sisters, Ruby Wallace, Lillie Mae Payne, Vera Blackburn, Mary Nuby and Flora Aycock.

Survivors include his wife, Lurline Minor Isley of Hartselle; two sons, Dr. Walter A. Isley of Knoxville, Tenn., and Dr. Branson B. Isley Jr. of Pell City; a daughter, Nina I. Sinclair of Gulf Port, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Smith of Hartselle; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samford University in Birmingham.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Faye Johnson Cotten

Funeral services for Faye Johnson Cotten, 76, of Hoover were Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Center Hill Baptist Church near Hanceville, the Revs. Greg Tucker and John Hambright officiating, with Burial in Center Hill Cemetery.

Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cotten died Sunday, Aug. 29. She graduate from Hanceville High School. She was a longtime member of Bluff Park Baptist Church and a charter member of Midfield Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glover M. and Pearl W. Johnson; a sister, Eura Smith; a brother Harold Johnson; and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Cotten of Hoover; two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Combs of Chelsea and Sandra (Ron) Parker of Hoover; two grandchildren, Sarah Combs of Chelsea and Justin Parker of Hoover; two sisters, Marcelle Strain of Hanceville and Elawene (Harold) Webb of Cullman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Gladys Willingham McCoy

Jennie Manora Gladys Willingham McCoy, 89, of Jasper, the Boldo community, went to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Jasper, with Burial in Boldo Memory Gardens. James Newell and Charles Powell will officiate and Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is directing. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mrs. McCoy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper, a Gray Lady and a volunteer worker for the Red Cross for many years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, O.W. McCoy; parents J.L. and Cordelia Willingham; two brothers; one sister; and a great-grandson, Nathan Scott Scheile.

Mrs. McCoy leaves to mourn her passing her three daughters, Sue Clement and her husband Ronnie and Sara Scheile, all of Boldo, and Laurin Harrison and her husband Curtis of Georgia; four grandsons, Jackie Clement and Donna of Arley, Dennis Clement and Jeanie of Boldo, Rudy Scheile and Dana of Union Chapel and Scott Scheile and Teri of Boldo; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Myrtis Drummond and her husband Garvin of Vestavia; sister-in-law, Ila Willingham of Lakeland, Fla.; nieces; nephews; and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jackie, Dennis, Zac and Gabe Clement and Rudy and Scott Scheile.

Charlotte H. Budweg

Funeral services for Charlotte H. Budweg, 91, of Cullman will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at St. John's United Church, Pastor Bob Kurtz officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Budweg died Friday, Sept. 10, at Cullman. She was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Cullman, to Guido and Martha Hoetchler Huck. She was a member of St. John's United Church and was dedicated to visiting the sick.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, August Budweg.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Marie (Robert E.) Dyer; two grandchildren, Cynthia M. Caughman of Albertville and Jonathan Edwin Dyer of Cullman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Saturday.

Rudy Plunkett

Funeral services for Rudy Plunkett, 56, of Baileyton will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Ronald Earwood officiating, with Burial in Zion Grove Cemetery near Holly Pond. The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the funeral time.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Plunkett died Friday, Sept. 10, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born July 12, 1948, in Cullman County to Ludie and Mary Fulmer Plunkett. He was of the Baptist faith and worked in the mailroom at The Cullman Times.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Ray Plunkett.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Gill Plunkett of Baileyton; one son, Josh (Paula) Plunkett of Baileyton; six sisters, Ruth (John) Bowden of Simcoe, Frances Starnes and Kathy (Gerold) Hooper, both of Holly Pond, and Judy (Henry) Arndt and Debra (Randall) Daniel, both of Cullman; and one grandchild, Shelby Plunkett.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Curtis Leon Casey

Funeral services for Curtis Leon Casey, 75, of Clermont, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Casey died Thursday, Sept. 9, at The Villages Hospice House in The Villages, Fla. He was born June 18, 1929, in Blount County to William T. and Ethel Brown Casey. He was a meat cutter.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Smith Casey; four sons, Edward Casey of Casco, Maine; Craig Casey, Portsmith, N.H.; Jeffery Casey of Hammond, Ind.; and Douglas Casey of Bloomington, Ind.; three daughters, Charlotte DeFreese of Memphis, Tenn.; Barbara Kwiatkowski of Lombard, Ill.; and Jean Wiatrowski of Oak Forest, Ill.; one brother, Roy Casey of Bessemer; three sisters, Mary Baver, Margorie Speekman and Billie Ruth Wisner, all of Cullman; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services for Juleyette "Judy" Burney Johnston, 57, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, Johnnie Reid officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnston died Saturday, Sept. 11 at her residence. She was born Sept. 5, 1947. She was a member of Light House Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Burney; and her sister, Cathy Burney.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph David Johnston in Cullman; two sons, Jeff Dillard and Clayton Dillard, both of Cullman; a daughter, Janie Williams of Cullman; her mother, Virginia Burney; six brothers, Dwight, Greg, Rod, Darrell, Bill and Steve Burney, all of Cullman; six sisters, Barbara Burks of Ragland, Faye Hunt of Birmingham, Jill Rouse of Garden City, Connie Roquemone of Holly Pond, Joan Perkins of Cullman and Juanita Reid of Falkville; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

J.D. Beasley

Funeral services for J.D. Beasley, 83, of Morris will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, F.R. Bryant officiating, with Burial in Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Hayden.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beasley died Sunday, Sept. 12 in Morris. He was born in Blount County on Nov. 11, 1920 to William Henry and Maybelle Hunt Beasley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona Beasley; and a son, Richard Gary Beasley.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail (Eddie) Marsh of Gardendale, Evelyn (John) Parish of Warrior; two sons, Barry (Renee) Beasley of Warrior and Jesse (Jennette) Beasley of Morris; three sisters, Ruth Martin of Hanceville, Lou Jacobs and Gertha Killion, both of Arab; five brothers, Hugh "Sam" Beasley of Texas, Wade Beasley of Colorado, Glen Beasley of Snead, Wayne Beasley of Oneonta and Bill Beasley of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and special care givers, Bobbie Deaton of Warrior and Clydie Bullard of Kimberly.

Visitation was Monday.
