Menorise Benjamin 'Bill' Williams

Funeral services for Menorise Benjamin "Bill" Williams, 78, of Cullman will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at New Hope Baptist Church No. 2, the Rev. Bobby Williams officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams died Sunday, March 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 30, 1926, in Cullman County to Marniase Benjamin and Nora Smith Williams. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father; his wife, Annie Williams; two brothers, Ed Williams and Jake Williams; four grandchildren, Pamela Williams, Jerry Williams, Anna Williams and Karen Kritner; and a great-grandchild, Megan Huffman.

Survivors include his mother; four sons, Frank (Barbara) Williams of Gatesville, Texas, Wayne Williams and Tony (Melinda) Williams, both of Holly Pond and Larry (Tracy) Williams of Goldridge; five daughters, Linda (James) Kritner of Sabine Pass, Texas, Barbara (Donald) Kritner of Holly Pond, Tina (Earl) Kritner of Fairview, Doris (James) Mobley of Blountsville and Peggy (Robert) Beasley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Bobby (Linda) Williams of Mineral Wells, Texas; four sisters, Nell (Garland) Hood, Ruth Keevan, Willa Faulkner and Joyce Strickland, all of Cullman; 30 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Richard 'Rick' Joseph Eisenring

Graveside services for Richard "Rick" Eisenring, 65, of Blountsville will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Beech Grove Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eisenring was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. He has been a resident of Blountsville since 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Joseph Eisenring of Birmingham, Richard Jonathan (Tammy) Eisenring of Navel Station Great Lakes, Ill.; three grandchildren, Richard Jonathan Eisenring II, Chelsea Anne Eisenring, both of Port Richey, Fla., Courtney Amanda Henderson of Navel Station Great Lakes, Ill.; and one brother, Ray A. (Anita) Eisenring of Springhill, Fla.

Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. today.

Julia H. Shoults

Mrs. Julia H. Shoults, age 83 of Florence died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Merrill Gardens, Florence following an extended illness. She was a native of Vinemont and had lived in Florence since 1991. She was a member of Alabama and National Nurses Associations, Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Sorority-Cullman, Ladies Elk and Lions Clubs in Cullman and a member of First Baptist Church in Cullman.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel in Cullman, with Burial to follow in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Shoults was born in Vinemont on Jan. 16, 1922, to Frank and Effie Heath. She attended Vinemont Elementary School. When she was orphaned at age 14, she moved to Birmingham with relatives and finished at Woodlawn High School. Upon graduation she was accepted to St. Vincent Hospital's School of Nursing. Upon graduation and board certification as a registered nurse, she served during World War II in the U.S. Army WAC Nurse Corp as a lieutenant as was stationed at Northington Army Hospital in Tuscaloosa.

She met and married Robert A. Shoults, a convalescing serviceman in 1946 and bore a son Richard Wayne in 1948.

After living in Louisville, Ky, Memphis, Tenn., St. Petersburg, Fla., and Long Beach, Calif., she settled in Cullman. She was employed by Cullman Hospital for 21 years as a registered nurse in obstetrics. She retired for one year and was employed by Nicholson File as their first industrial nurse. She retired permanently in 1982 and had resided in Florence since 1991.

Her husband, Robert A. Shoults, precedes her in death.

Her son, Richard Shoults of Florence, survives her.

Pallbearers will be Steve Singleton, Don Green and Chester Freeman, all of Cullman, Keat dela Toree of Birmingham, Herbert Bernard and James Fitzpatrick, both of Florence. Steve Atkinson will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Moss Service Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Susan C. Brown

Funeral services for Susan C. Brown, 45, of Vinemont will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Moss Service Chapel, Frankie Henderson officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday, March 5 at Woodland Medical Center.

Louie Rochester Turner

Funeral services for Louie Rochester Turner, 85, of Holly Pond were held Monday, March 7, 2005, at New Hope No. 2 Baptist Church, the Rev. Sherman Bailey officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Turner died Saturday, March 5 in Holly Pond. He was born in DeKalb County on Dec. 21, 1919, to George W. and Magnolia Pounds Turner. He was a retired farmer and merchant and a member of New Hope No. 2 Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Myron Turner; and two sisters, Ruby Smith, Opie Norris.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Lovell Turner of Holly Pond; two daughters, Donna Kay (Hubert) Walker of Holly Pond, Judy Gail (Merlin) Cone of Cold Springs; brother, Comer Turner of Cullman; sister, Idell McDaniel of Elba; seven grandchildren, Monica Ayers, Russell Walker, Katrina Franklin, Van Cone, Lavonda Davis, Brandon Cone, Garret Cone; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan Ayers, Megan Walker, Tristan Cone, Aaron Ayers, Eric Walker, Vandy Cone.

Marlin Fletcher Cone

Funeral services for Marlin Fletcher Cone, 63, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, the Revs. Vernon Alvis and Lavern Crawford officiating, with Burial in Mt. Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cone died Sunday, March 6 in Birmingham. He was born in Cullman County on May 17, 1941. He was retired from Americold after 37 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Johnson Cone; and a daughter, Denise Cone.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Cone of Hanceville; three sons, Dwight Cone, Dennis Cone, Dewayne Cone, all of Hanceville; his father, Roland Fletcher Cone of West Point; five grandchildren, Allen and Jeremy Cone of West Point, Jamie, Joey and Jennifer Rodgers of Hanceville; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Quick, Michael Floyd, Phillip Hitt, Jarrett Grissom, Troy Screws and Buddy Hitt.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Emma June Hildreth

Graveside services for Emma June Hildreth, 84, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Claycomb Cemetery in Redkey, Ind.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hildreth died Monday, Oct. 17 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1921, to Joseph Earl and Cecil Boyer Claycomb in Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forrest Hildreth; a daughter, Karen Hildreth; and a son, Lavern Hildreth.

Survivors include a son, Duane Hildreth of Cullman; and a grandson, Anthony Hildreth, also of Cullman.

Out-of-state arrangements will be handled by M.J.S. Mortuary in Redkey, Ind., located at 107 S. Meridian St., Redkey, IN 47373. Their phone number is (765) 369-2016.

James William Bennett

James William Bennett, Tech. Sgt., 86, of Orlando, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005. James was born in Winston County, Ala., on Dec. 27, 1918. He served in the Vietnam War. He later moved to Orlando and retired from the U.S. Air Force. For almost 30 years, James and his wife, Virginia, were part of the Gary's Duck Inn Restaurant "family." James was the facilities maintenance and repair person and his wife was the bookkeeper. While working at Gary's, James managed his own investment properties which he continued to do after the restaurant closed. Everyone who knew James Bennett would agree, if you needed him, day or night, he would be there for you.

James is survived by his wife, Virginia Bennett of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Brenda Halm of Avon, Ind.; one granddaughter, Brandi Rochkind of Orlando; one great-grandson, Billy Cole of Orlando; two brothers, Dwight Bennett of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Cecil Bennett of New Orleans, La.; and two sisters, Mary Miller of Cullman, Ala., and Betty Ruth Berger of Hobart, Ind.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Linda Kay Bennett; two brothers, Chester Bennett of Cullman and Aubrey Bennett of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Gail Story and Fay McNeal-Logan, both of Hanceville, Ala.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Cullman, Ala.

Flowers may be sent to Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Highway 31 North in Cullman, AL 35179; or a memorial donation may be given to the American Heart Association or National Cancer Society.

James Eric Tanner

Funeral services for James Eric Tanner, 67, of Danville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Son Rise Baptist Church, the Revs. James Wray and Grad Tanner officiating, with Burial in Herring Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tanner died Monday, Oct. 17 at his residence. He was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Morgan County to Thomas and Evie Tanner. He was a member of Son Rise Baptist Church in Hartselle, where he served as a member of the finance committee. He was retired-disabled from Joe Wheeler EMC where he worked as a lineman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the color guard and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Burell Tanner; and one niece, Angie Tanner.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Payne Tanner of Danville; a son, James Eric (Kelle) Tanner II of Danville; two daughters, Cathy Tanner (Ricky) Moebes of Decatur and Carol Tanner (Alan) Eliff of Falkville; a sister, Effie Mae Cole of Mt. Hope; five grandchildren, Lindsey Westmoreland, Leah Eliff, Arlie Tanner, Chase Summerford and Alex Summerford; and one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Jade Kotlik; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Son Rise Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Waddell, Tommy Blankenship, Clayton Ledlow, Bobby Maples, Thomas Tanner and Donnie Ford.

Connie Sue Handley Alexander

Funeral services for Connie Sue Handley Alexander, 55, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Living Faith Baptist Church, the Rev. Larry Brown officiating, with Burial in Bethany Church Cemetery in Crane Hill. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Alexander died Wednesday, Oct. 5 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. She was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Cullman County to Henry B. and Estelle Lee Handley. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father; and a son, Chad Alexander.

Survivors include her mother; her husband, Jackson R. Alexander of Good Hope; four brothers, Earnest Handley of Jacksonville, Fla., Gerald Handley of Jasper and Robert Handley and Gilbert Handley, both of Cullman; a sister, Betty Seemore of Cullman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Luther J. Butler

Funeral services for Luther J. Butler, 69, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Revs. Steve Rodgers and James Parker officiating, with Burial in Baldwin Heights Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Butler died Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Cullman. He was born June 30, 1936, in Cullman to William and Ruby Tolbert Butler. He was an inspector with General Motors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Rowell Butler of Cullman; a daughter, Annette (Steve) Crutchfield of Cullman; a granddaughter, Samantha Grace Harris of Cullman; a sister, Margie Kimbril Bagwell of Cullman; special friends, Mark Dolan and Chris and Chad Burks; a brother-in-law, Neal (Gilanne) Rowell of Cullman; a sister-in-law, Frances Cheatwood of Cullman; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation was Thursday.

Brenda Kay Amerson

Funeral services for Brenda Kay Amerson, 55, of Hanceville will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Amerson died Tuesday, Oct. 4 in Hanceville.

Charlie Roy 'Chuck' Spinks

Funeral services for Charlie Roy "Chuck" Spinks will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Jacks Spinks and Wayne Wisener officiating. military honors and Burial will follow at Bethlehem East Cemetery in Hanceville.

Mr. Spinks died Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Cullman.

Martha Hutson Samples

Funeral services for Martha Hutson Samples, 65, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Samuel Tucker and Andy Coffey officiating, with Burial in Springhill Cemetery.

Mrs. Samples died Wednesday, Oct. 5 at her residence. She was born Jan. 21, 1940. She was a nurse.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Samples of Cullman; a son, Jamie Morris of Cullman; two daughters, Cindy (Ron) Taylor and Joy (John) Bush, both of Cullman; her parents, Lenard and Gracie Hutson of Cullman; two brothers, Gerald Hutson and Hoyt Hutson, both of Cullman; two sisters, Sandra (Mack) Tucker and Charlotte (Mike) Bartlett, both of Cullman; five grandchildren, Paul (Jessica) Scarberry, Jena Bartlett, Daniel Bartlett, Brooke Buchanan and Brooklyn Bush; and two stepgrandchildren, Tim (Stephanie) Samples and Wendy Samples.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today.

Mary Jo Cargo Henry

Funeral services for Mary Jo Cargo Henry, 73, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Moss-Service Funeral Chapel, Dr. Scott Harris and the Rev. Caroline Cargo Peterson officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Henry died on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Cullman Long Term Care. She was born on April 6, 1932, in Hanceville to John and Mildred Thomas Cargo. She was married to Herbert Henry on Dec. 27, 1953. She was a longtime member of Seventh Street Baptist Church Preservation Committee, where she was a member of the Kendrick Sunday School class. She retired with 46 years of service to the Cullman County Department of Human Resources.

Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Jean Cargo; and her grandparents, Robert and Emma Potts Cargo and Jim and Elzadie Calvert Thomas.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Herbert Henry of Cullman; a brother, Robert T. (Helen) Cargo of Tuscaloosa; a sister, Glenda (Bill) Moody of Dothan; and numerous family and friends.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Seventh Street Baptist Church Preservation Committee, 708 7th St. SW, Cullman, AL 35055 in honor of Mary Jo Cargo Henry.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family would also like to send a special thanks to all of the staff on the second floor at Cullman Long Term Care for their care and kindness.

Mozelle Grimmett Freeman

Mozelle Grimmett Freeman, 82, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley D. Freeman.

Mrs. Freeman is survived by her daughter, Pamela Joy Bishop of Hollywood; a son, Chesley Don Freeman Jr. of Panama City; a brother, Othell Grimmett of Cullman; three sisters, Maybell Waid of Arley, Vermell Campbell of Crane Hill and Loudell Hale of Cullman; four grandchildren, William J. Freeman, Warren J. Pinheiro, Ginger Arlene Freeman and Chesley Don Freeman III.

The family requests donations be made to the American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association. The family may be contacted at www.aty4u.com.

Graveside services were followed by Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Johns Ridout Funeral Home directed.
