McCain

BIRMINGHAM

Services for William Edward McCain, 28, of Birmingham will be Thursday at noon at Guiding Light Church in Roebuck. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Anniston with Arrington Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. McCain died Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Kena McCain; a daughter, Jasmine McCain; his parents, Billy and Geraldine McCain; a brother, Leonard McCain; and a grandparent, Gladys Lee.

Mr. McCain was the founder of Equipping the Saints Internet Ministry and Ministries in Action. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a former Auburn University football player.

Moncrief

TALLADEGA

Services for Clara Batts Moncrief, 91, of Talladega will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moncrief died Tuesday at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include a son, Dr. James L. Moncrief of Greer, S.C.; three sisters, Mary B. Gordon of Athens and Emily B. Johnson and Kathryn B. Hardy, both of Talladega; a brother, Norman Batts of Athens; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Sadler, Stephen Sadler, Christopher Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Floyd Ardis and John Ray Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Iva Nell Ricker Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Moncrief was a native of Limestone County and had lived in Talladega since 1935. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Talladega, where she taught the young women's Sunday school class. She was retired from the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind after 27 years of service. She was a member of AEA and WEA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Moncrief; and two sisters, Ruby B. King and Lucy Batts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the I Love My Church Fund at First Baptist Church of Talladega.

Moore

MUNFORD

Services for Homer Franklin Moore, 58, of 164 Hooper Lane will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with Revs. Marvin Bentley and Mike Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Hazel Moore; a son, Tony Moore of Munford; a daughter and her husband, Lynn and Tony Eldridge of Munford; 11 brothers, Terry Moore and Jerry Moore, both of Lineville, Michael Moore, Glenn Moore, David Moore, Bud Moore and Phillip Moore, all of Ashland, Hopper Moore and Danny Moore, both of Oxford, Howard Moore of Hackneyville and Steve Moore of Talladega; a sister, Linda Sue Mitchell; and a grandchild, Sunshine Robertson.

Pallbearers will be brothers.

Mr. Moore was retired from Talladega National Forestry, where he was head timber marker/team leader. He received numerous awards for excellent service. He was a disabled Vietnam War veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church for 32 years, where he served as song leader, treasurer and song chairman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Helen Moore.

Moore

WELLINGTON

Memorial services with military honors for William Wayne Moore, 54, of Wellington will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Revs. Robert Childers and Joseph Reynolds officiating. There will be a vigil at 7 p.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church.

Mr. Moore died Aug. 6 at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Reynolds Moore of Wellington; his mother, Dorothy Moore of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Jane Mandell and Darlene Rajski, both of El Paso; three nephews, Thomas Mandell, Joseph Mandell and Timothy Mandell; four nieces, Dorothy Mandell, Shanna Mandell, Leah Battles and Alexandria Shamblin; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moore was retired from the Army after 26 years of service. He was a member of the 18th Airborne Corp and served in Vietnam. He had been a horse trainer since his retirement.

JACKSONVILLE

Graveside services for Sarah Ethelyn Peak, 80, of 508 Eighth Ave. N.E., will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Rev. Terry Johnson officiating and K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peak died Monday at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond C. Peak of Jacksonville; four sons, Stephen Graham Boozer and his wife, Peggy, of Fort Worth, Texas, James Ronald Boozer and Jeffrey Curtis Peak and his wife, Melanie, all of Jacksonville and Jerre Raymond Peak of Oxford; two sisters, Carol Dean Duncan of Sylacauga and Sarah Jo Merrell of Childersburg; a brother, Frank Gene Graham of Childersburg; and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nine nieces and five nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Merrell, Rodney Graham, Mike Boozer, Joe Prickett, Allen Knight, Michael Graham, George Holmes and Jerry Kellem.

Mrs. Peak had lived in Calhoun County most of her life and was a substitute teacher for Crystal Springs and Alexandria schools. She was a caregiver to many and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Jimmy Littlejohn, 1745 Pleasant Valley Road, Jacksonville, AL 36265.

Mr. Perry died Tuesday at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

Services for Clifford Lee Ray, 88, of 1525 Bacon Ave., Anniston will be today at 11 a.m. at Upper Cane Creek Methodist Church with Revs. Benny Abney and Allen Abney officiating. Burial will be in Upper Cane Creek Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Ray died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra R. Lindsey and her special friend James R. Grindle, both of Anniston; three sons and their wives, Charles D. and Joan Ray of Huntsville, Mitchell L. and Dottie Ray of Moody and Robert N. and Dianne Ray of Bynum; five sisters, Hazel Wilson of Columbus, Ga., Helen Davis of Carrollton, Ga., Ellen Bailey of Dallas, Ga. and Nettie Burns and Valera Dodson, both of Anniston; a brother, Jimmy H. Ray of Helena; two grandchildren, Susan R. Moss and her husband, David, and Jonathan Ray; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be relatives.

Mr. Ray was a native of and had lived in Cleburne County most of his life. He was a member of Upper Cane Creek Methodist Church and was retired from the Alabama Forestry Commission. He was a farmer and a carpenter.

Services for Maybell Southers, 84, of 248 Hilton St. will be today at 2 p.m. at Dryden Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Heflin City Cemetery.

Mrs. Southers died Monday at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin E. Southers of Heflin; three sons, J.D. Southers and Lee Southers, both of Heflin and W.P. Southers of Brundidge; a daughter, Linda Faye Nevilles of Heflin; two brothers, Charlie Phillips of Anniston and W. P. Phillips of Mobile; three grandchildren, Chris Alred, Angie Munroe and Jerome Southers; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Alred, Talmadge Alred, Jack Blanton, Billy Brimer, Gordon Dodson and Jackie Williams.

Mrs. Southers was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a housewife and had attended Heflin Church of God.

EASTABOGA

Services for Sallie Archie, 76, of Eastaboga will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church with Rev. N. McRath officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Ms. Archie died Monday at Colonial Pines Nursing Home in Oxford.

Survivors include a companion, Wallace Ham of Eastaboga; a son, James Archie Sr. of Buffalo, N.Y.; five sisters, Ruth Roberts, Judy Coswell and Sarah Copeland, all of Bynum, Ella Leonard of Anniston and Della Hannah of Hobson City, and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Ms. Archie was a lifelong resident of Eastaboga and a member of Springhill Baptist Church and the Golden Harps. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Miller; her mother, Sallie Bowie; and a daughter, Minnie Cox.

Memorial services for Gladys E. Baldwin, 84, of 4019 Nisbet Lake Road, formerly of Ocala, Fla., will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Williams with Rev. Mike Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Cemetery in Ocala, Fla. with K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. Another memorial service will also be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Cemetery in Ocala, Fla.

Mrs. Baldwin died Wednesday at her home.

Graveside services for Sherlean Carolyn Bell, 50, of Roanoke will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church Cemetery in Roanoke with Rev. William Phillips officiating and Silmon Mortuary in charge. The family will receive friends noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bell died Tuesday at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. James Bell Sr. of Roanoke; a daughter, Rochelle Bell of Roanoke; three sons, James Bell Jr., Bruce E. Bell and Tony B. Bell, all of Roanoke; five sisters, Marsha Holley, Nancy Clark, Brenda Welch, Yolanda Welch and Renea Welch, all of Newark, N.J.; five brothers, Larry Johnson, Barry Welch, Howard Jr. Welch, Tyrone Welch and Robert Welch, all of Newark; and a grandchild, Xavier L. Bell.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Johnson Welch; and a brother, John Welch.

Mr. Blumenschein died Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham.
