Marshall

PIEDMONT

Services for William Orvil Marshall, 80, of Piedmont will be today at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Barry Prestley Lt. C. officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The body will be at the funeral home an hour before the service.

Mr. Marshall died Friday at his home.

Survivors include his wife Mattie Seale Marshall of Piedmont; a daughter, Susan Ponder of Anniston; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashley Ponder of Jacksonville; a brother, Huey Marshall of Oklahoma; and a special caregiver, James Kimble.

Pallbearers will be the military. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Hutchinson, Frank Douthit, Larry Williamson, Michael Naugher, Jimmy Marshall, Kenneth Grissom and Larry Williams.

Mr. Marshall was of the Methodist faith. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and was retired from the military with 30 years service. He was a CSM and received many medals including the National Defense Medal, the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Ruth Salmon Marshall; a sister, Nellie Marshall Coheley; and a brother, Harold Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad or the United Methodist Childrens Home, P.O. Box 859, Selma, AL 36702.

Sides

OXFORD

Services for Lola M. Sides, 95, of Oxford will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Oxford with Rev. John Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Mrs. Sides died Saturday in Anniston.

Survivors include two sons, Troy Sides of Anniston and Bill Sides of Tuscaloosa; a daughter Louise McDonald of Anniston; a brother, Bennie McDowell of Georgia; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Steward, Josh Steward, Terry Sides, Gary Sides, Jonathan Sides and Jeff Sides.

Mrs. Sides was a native of Georgia and resident of Oxford most her life. She was a member of Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church and spent most of her life working in home health. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sides; and four sons, Melvin Sides, Ronnie Sides, Wallace Sides and Junior Sides.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Soto

PIEDMONT

Services for Jerry Sue Soto, 63, formerly of Piedmont will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jack Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Soto died Friday at Riverview Hospital.

Survivors include a special companion, Elva Hernandez; two brothers, Clarence Badgett of Oxford and Sherman Badgett Jr. of Piedmont; two sisters, Geanette Shell of Piedmont and Lorene Golden of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Eaton, Kenny Eaton, Randall Badgett, Buddy Badgett and Jay Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.

Ms. Soto was a native of Piedmont. She lived in Fernandiza Beach, Fla. For 25 years then moved to Mississippi where she lived for the past three years. She served in the Women's Army Corps.

Bock

Services for Carole E. Bock, 62, of Anniston will be today at 4 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Tom Bell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bock died Friday at National Health Care.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Lythgoe of Anniston; a son and his wife, Dr. Pierre Lavedan and Dr. Anna Lavedan of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Kayla Lythgoe, Aaron Lythgoe, Gabrielle Lavedan and Pierre B. Lavedan.

Mrs. Bock was a native of Boston, Mass., and had lived in Anniston more than three years. She was a 1959 graduate of Mary Mount College in Arlington, Va., and was an administrative assistant at Fort McClellan prior to its closing. She attended First United Methodist Church of Anniston and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Anniston. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Mozier; a sister, Margaret Mozier; and her husband, Richard Henry Bock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity.

BYNUM

Graveside services for Larry Emmett Carter, 54, of Bynum will be today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Revs. Wayne Eden and Ron Hopkins officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge.

Mr. Carter died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Foster of Bynum; two stepsons, Billy Mosley of Anniston and Ricky Foster of Eastaboga; three stepdaughters, Rita Hicks of Jacksonville, Sandra Whitt of Anniston and Glenda Gentry of Bynum; a sister, Charlotte Cash of Alexandria; a niece, Phyllis Kelley; two nephews, Michael Kelley and Jeremy Kelley, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Mosley, Ricky Foster, Tim Hicks, Ralph Gentry, Mark Gentry and Wayne Lewallen. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Gentry, Bruce Cardwell and Wes Corn.

Mr. Carter was a retired textile worker and had attended Homewood Acres Baptist Church.

WADLEY

Services for Frances Darlene Halsey, 39, of Wadley will be today at 2 p.m. at Wadley First United Methodist Church with Rev. Abigail Carlisle-Wilke and Rev. Cecil Halsey officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Congregational Christian Church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home of Roanoke in charge. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Ms. Halsey died Thursday at Randolph Medical Center.

Survivors include her mother, Josephine Halsey of Wadley; two sisters, Resa Halsey and Wendy Halsey, both of Wadley; four brothers, Tommy Halsey of Roanoke, Richard Halsey and Mike Halsey, both of Wadley, and Mark Halsey of Valley.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Halsey, Richard Halsey, Mark Halsey, Mike Halsey, James Halsey, Joseph Halsey and Bo Sutton.

Ms. Halsey was a Randolph County native and a former Eastaboga resident. She was a member of Wadley First United Methodist Church and had worked as a dietician with Randolph Medical Center.

Services for Jacqueline Belle "Jackie" Jones, 73, of Wedowee will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Cosper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Friday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include her husband, Edward E. Jones of Wedowee; four daughters, Beverly Bishop of Wedowee, Deborah Hughes of Haleyville, Carla Snyder of Stockbridge, Ga. and Angie Morgan of Palmetto, Ga.; two sons, Mark Jones of Birmingham and Harold Jones of McDonough, Ga.; a brother, Charles Hebert of Smyrna, Ga., 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Fulton County, Ga., and a former resident of College Park, Ga. She was a homemaker and a member of the Swagg Homemakers Club, Mt. Laurell Community Club, and St. John's Catholic Church in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Vernon Robinson and Ruby Carr Robinson Hebert.

Graveside services for Morgan "Pop" Waddell Parsons, 96, of Talladega will be today at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Revs. John Haynes, Gary Wyatt and Russell Rodriguez officiating and Usrey Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Parsons died Thursday at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include four daughters, Catherine Heath of Sycamore and Frances Matson, Lola Wyatt and Joy Dickerson, all of Talladega, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnathan Carter, Chris Heath, Heath Liner, Shay Youngblood, John Morgan Matson, Samuel Nabors, Scott Hindmon and Mathew Liner. Honorary pallbearers will be John E. "Buddy" Curry, Jim Highfield, Roy Hurst, Ronnie Pope, Robert Dyal, Billy Adkins and Jim Searcy.

Mr. Parsons was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Talladega most of his life. He was retired supervisor of farming operation for the Presbyterian Home for Children and was a member of White Plains Methodist Church.

Services for Virginia Bowles Turner, 86, of Oxford will be today at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home with Revs. Charles Terry and Jerry Starling officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Turner died Thursday at National Health Care.

Survivors include three brothers, Herlurf Bowles Jr. and James E. Bowles, both of Oxford and William H. Bowles of Anniston; eight nieces, Mary Ann Wright, Jane Perkins, Nancy Day, Sheila Mathis, Emily Pearson, Cynthia Patton, Judy Cox and Susan Hamby; and six nephews, John Mitchell, David Bowles, Edward Bowles, Paul Bowles, Robert Bowles and Lanier Fowler Jr.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Turner was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Turner; her parents, Herlurf Bowles Sr. and Mary Patman Bowles; and two sisters, Hazel Bowles Mitchell and Margaret Bowles Fowler.
