Bannister

MARBURY

Graveside services for Emlie Annette Bannister, 93, of Marbury will be today at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Watts officiating and Usrey Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Bannister died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jimmie S. and John B. Burns of Prattville; a son and his wife, Marcus C. and Patricia Bannister Sr. of Munford, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Coley, Tom Smith, Bobby Watts, Steve Mayfield, Ray Mitchell and Shannon Strickland.

Mrs. Bannister was a native of Clay County and had lived in Munford most of her life. She was a member of the Munford Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

Baumann

CHOCCOLOCCO

Services for Edward Rydell Baumann, 92, of Choccolocco will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd-Presbyterian with Revs. Alex Stevens and Mark Verdery officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Mr. Baumann died Saturday at his home.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Edward Baumann Collins and Margaret Collins of San Francisco; two great nieces, Blair Collins Maus and Lisa Collins, both of San Francisco; two great nephews, Samuel Liu and Todd Maus, both of San Francisco; and a caregiver, Sue Pugh.

Mr. Baumann was an Army captain and a World War II veteran. He was a cum laude graduate of Princeton University and was a retired furniture designer and architect. He owned the first blueberry farm in Alabama and was very active with the Choccolocco Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was a founder and an elder of the Church of the Good Shepherd-Presbyterian and had bred saddle horses. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Slaughter Baumann.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Church of the Good Shepherd-Presbyterian or the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.

Beavers

PELL CITY

Services for Leroy Lovester Beavers Sr., 56, of Pell City will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church South with Rev. John Herd officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Zion Church Cemetery with Sims Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Beavers died Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Rosea Mae Beavers of Pell City; three daughters, Sophia Beavers and Denise Curry, both of Anniston and Angela Orr of Alabama; four sons, Leroy L. Beavers Jr. of Compton, Calif. and Norman P. Beavers, Cedric Beavers and Lee Cole Beavers, all of Anniston; two sisters, Teresa Garrett and Gertrude Woods, both of Anniston; five brothers, Mitchell Lee Beavers of Bronx, N.Y., Laveran Beavers, Cecil Beavers and Anthony Beavers, all of Pell City and Mark Beavers of Riverside, and 17 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Masonic Brothers of Pride of Brutonville 308A.

Mr. Beavers was an Army Vietnam veteran and had received the Bronze Star. He was a retired truck driver for Boyd Trucking Company and had received a certificate for driving over 30,000 miles without an accident.

CARROLLTON, Ga.

Services for Alice Marie Cross, 65, of Carrollton will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rainwater and West Funeral Home in Bowdon, Ga., with Revs. Frank Burson and Brian Smith officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleburne County.

Mrs. Cross died Sunday at Tanner Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Greg Cross of Carrollton; two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Ronnie Attaway and Tina and Wade Parish, all of Carrollton; four sisters, Deborah Burson and her husband, Frank, of Heflin, Clara Gibbs of Bowdon, Ga., Nena Johnson of Graham and Virginia Norton and her husband, Richard, of Carrollton; two brothers and their wives, Brian and Penny Smith and Charles and Joyce Smith, all of Heflin, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brown, Tim Johnson, Tony Johnson, Ronnie Attaway, Gary Gibbs and Terry Gibbs.

Mrs. Cross was a native of Cleburne County and was a retired seamstress with Ray Sewell Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Cross; her parents, John Marshall and Ada Jewell Byrd Smith; and two brothers, Alton Smith and Lebus Smith.

HEFLIN

Services for Inez Hanvey Gill, 81, of Heflin will be today at 2 p.m. at Pinetucky Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Stamps, James Cavender, Marc Curlee and Chris Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Pinetucky Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Gill died Sunday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Johnson of Wellington, Betty Duncan of Greenville, N.C., Dorothy Smith of Heflin, Dura Riddle of Moody and Judy Brown of Woodland; three sons, Sam Hudgins of Heflin, Horace Hudgins of Ocilla, Ga. and Tommy Gill of Moody, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Brown, Terry Duncan, Brandon Gill, Greg Hudgins, Bob Johnson and Lemuel Riddle.

Mrs. Gill was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a member of Beason Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Mrs. Gray died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Jones

ASHLAND

Services for Una Mae Jones, 95, of Ashland will be today at 2 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Willis officiating. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include a sister, Elna Turner of Birmingham, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ross Sims, Wayne McCullough, Jack McCullough, Jimmy Turner, Jerry Turner and Jack Pomeroy. Honorary pallbearers will be former students.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Clay County and was a graduate of Jacksonville Teachers College and the University of Alabama. She taught for 45 years in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. She was a member First Baptist Church of Ashland, where she was a member of Women's Missionary Union and a Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster K. Jones; and two sons, Kent Jones and Ronald Jones.

Services for Betty B. Lackey, 61, of Munford will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Mike Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Ironaton Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lackey died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Lackey of Munford; two daughters, Patricia Gaither and Darlene Johnson, both of Munford; a son, Rodney "Bubba" Lackey of Munford; a brother, Arnold Ray Brown of Alpine, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tim Roszell, Terry Smith, Ted Lackey, Greg Skinner, Carlton Freeman and Jimmy Hudgins. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Mayo, Curtis Mayo and Wayne Lackey.

Mrs. Lackey was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. She was a member of Munford Baptist Church and was retired from the Palm Beach Company after 27 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Pauline Brown.

Services for Kristi Diane Smith Lewis, 27, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Celebration Center with Revs. Mike Gray and Al Argo officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lewis died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Lewis; a son, James Bradley Lewis of Anniston; her parents, Roger and Nancy Smith; four sisters, Melissa Whatley of Tuscaloosa and Marie Smith, Anna Smith and Mary Beth Smith, all of Oxford; and four brothers, Roger Smith of Montana and Andrew Smith, Peter Smith and Jeremy Smith, all of Oxford.

Pallbearers will be Elijah Wood Jr., Tommy Gorum, James Sewell, Peter Smith, Andrew Smith, Jeremy Smith and Roger Smith.

Mrs. Lewis was a resident of Oxford. She was a member of the Celebration Center and had attended Faith Christian School. She was a graduate of Oxford and was employed by Betty's Barbecue.

Maddin

OHATCHEE

Services for Emma Jean McDill Maddin, 74, of Ohatchee, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Bethel Methodist Cemetery with Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ms. Maddin died Friday at Riverview Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Baumeister of Vista, Calif. and Pamela J. Smith of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Thomas Terry Nicholson, Melinda Jean Crockett, Charles Hershel Nicholson, Michael Boyd Nicholson and Robert Bruce Bundy, and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Nicholson, Chuck Nicholson, Mike Nicholson, Robbie Bundy, Jay Fent and Tom Crockett. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Crockett, Jeff Crockett, Joseph Crockett, William Nicholson, Eric Bundy, Spencer Nicholson, Robbie Bundy, Danielle Crockett and Amber Nicholson.

Ms. Maddin was a native of Ragland, a former resident of Springfield, Ohio and Hatch, Utah, and had lived in Ohatchee one and a half years. She was retired from Navastar International in Springfield and was a member of the Eagles in Ohio. She was a Baptist.

Services for Allison Danielle Pope, 20, of Piedmont will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Gary McCurdy officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Ms. Pope died Saturday.

Survivors include her parents, Kay and Danny Pope of Piedmont; her grandmothers, Vernell Russell and Helen Ledbetter, both of Piedmont; several aunts and uncles: Donna and Derrel Jordan of Rainbow City, Cindy and Greg McFry of Piedmont, Doug and June Russell of Cedartown, Ga., and Mike and Sheryl Childers of Hartselle; several cousins, Jason Jordan, Brandon McFry, Shasta McFry, Will McFry, Micah Russell, Seth Russell, Chase Childers, Kim Childers, Tyler Childers, Jeremy Childers, April Childers and Kip Childers; and her financee, Max Millinix.

Miss Pope was a native of and had lived in Piedmont most of her life. She was a 1999 graduate of Piedmont High School and was a senior at Jacksonville State University.
