Michael

OXFORD

Services for Ercell Turner Michael, 77, of Oxford will be today at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home with Ed Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens.

Mrs. Michael died Sunday at National Health Care Nursing Home.

Survivors include several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Brimer, Loyd Kendrick, Ray Nelson, Charles Dollahite, Walter Ward and Bill Howard.

Mrs. Michael was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ. She had worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell.

Services for Thomas "Tommy" Mullendore, 90, of Anniston will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Mr. Mullendore died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

Schoggins

ASHLAND

Services for Arthur Q. "Boogie" Schoggins, 80, of Ashland will be today at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Revs. Ben Rosser and Randy Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Schoggins died Sunday at Clay County Nursing Home.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Schoggins of Ashland; a stepson, Jackie R. Gardner of Ashland, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cline, Bobby Schoggins, Michael Messer, Shannon Browning, Bradley Cline and Joe Adams.

Mr. Schoggins was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was an Army World War II veteran and had been employed by Anniston Army Depot. He was a former employee of Benefield Funeral Home and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Services for James W. Smith, 54, of Talladega will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Mr. Smith died Monday at Baptist Health Systems in Talladega.

Starr

BARNESVILLE, Ga.

Graveside memorial services for Douglas Lee Starr Sr., 63, of Barnesville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Linda P. Jones and Dr. William A. McKoy officiating and Haisten-Martin Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Starr died Saturday at the Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Midgie McKoy Starr; three children, Doug Starr Jr. of Stockbridge, Ga., Lynn Chadderton of Tampa, Fla. and David Starr of Louisville, Ky.; a stepson, Timothy T. Turner of Barnesville, and six grandchildren.

Mr. Starr was born in Anniston and was the son of the late Linwood Lee Starr and Ruby Christine Adams Starr. He was a retired manager in the textile industry and had served in the armed forces. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville.

Thomas

MUNFORD

Services for Mai Altovise Kiel Thomas, 26, of Munford, formerly of Coffeeville, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at DeForest Chapel of Talladega College with Revs. Rickey McKinney and Milton S. Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary in charge. The body will be at the chapel an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Thomas died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Thomas Jr. of Munford; her mother, Johnnie Mae Kiel of Coffeeville; and her biological mother, Cassandra Miller of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Mrs. Thomas was a 1993 graduate of Coffeeville High School and a 2000 graduate of Talladega College, where she was active in the college choir, student government association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Munford. She was employed at Anniston High School as a music, history and speech teacher. She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Kiel.

F St., Anniston, AL 36201. The information was left out of the original obituary information by the funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Services for Wanda Hendricks Bellamy, 47, of Conway will be today at 1 p.m. at Conway High School with Revs. Terry Booth and James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery with Shields Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Bellamy died Monday.

Survivors include her husband, Orton Bellamy of Conway; a daughter, Rashida Bellamy of Conway; two sisters and their husbands, Priscilla and Harvey Marshall of Anniston and Thelma Celestine and Sam Jinko of Cleveland; two brothers, John Freddie Hendricks of Anniston and Ernest Hendricks Jr. and his wife, Sally, of Cleveland; an aunt, Jeanette Hicks of Philadelphia, Pa.; an uncle, Joe Roberts of Anniston; her mother-in-law, Earnestine Bellamy of Little River; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bellamy was a native of Anniston and was the daughter of the late Earnest and Ola Mae Hendricks Sr. She was a graduate of Howard University with a degree in political economy and received a master's degree in guidance and counseling/student personnel from Southern Illinois University.

She was associate vice president of Community Support and Sponsored Projects and the director of the Educational Talent Search Program at Horry Georgetown Technical School. She was the founder and advisor for the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Club and had served on the Horry County School District Advisory Board. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary No. 2 Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church throughout her life. She was also a member of many civic and educational organizations, such as the Conway branch of the NAACP, the American College Personnel Association and South Carolina College Personnel Association.

Services for Alene Shipp Bennett, 78, of Roanoke will be today at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church with Revs. Stanley Yarbrough and Bernard Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Bennett died Thursday at Clay County Hospital in Ashland.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Burdette of Cragford; a son, Roger Bennett of Woodland; two brothers, Calvin Shipp of Roanoke and Charles Shipp of Lawrenceville, Ga., and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Burdette, Bruce Williams, Bill Shipp, Matthew Shipp, Steven Shipp and Clint Yarbrough.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Randolph County and was the daughter of William and Ruth Horton Shipp. She had been employed with Palm Beach Company and was a member of Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carey Bennett.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church.

OHATCHEE

Services for Andrew B. "A.B." Bonds, 78, of Ohatchee will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Whitt Hibbs officiating. Burial will be in Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Bonds died Friday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Woodward Bonds of Ohatchee; three nephews, Jimmy Brennen, Jerry Brennen and Billy Brennen; two stepsons, Jimmy Woodward of Ohatchee and Bobby Woodward of Alexandria; four stepgrandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Woodward, Jimmy Woodward, Joe Boozer and Dale Hedgepeth. Honorary pallbearers will be the Coffee Buddies.

Mr. Bonds was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and had attended Oak Bowery Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Monsanto Chemical Co. after 35 years of service.

Services for Lorain Dodd, 77, of Cedar Bluff will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Revs. Sanford DeBerry and Melvyn Salter officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dodd died Friday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Bertie and Donald Lee of Chickamauga, Ga., Ann and Kyle Beddingfield of Centre and Lynn and Steve Jennings of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Dodd of Cedar Bluff; a sister, Geraldine Snead of Cedar Bluff, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Dodd, Jamie Lee, Michael Dodd, Kyle Beddingfield, Doug Jennings and Brian Jennings.

Mrs. Dodd was a native of Cherokee County and was a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sarah Bishop Richardson; her husband, Robert H. Dodd; and a son, Bobby Dodd.

Services for Lurlene S. Gordon, 84, of Marietta will be today at 4 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Mike Woods officiating. Burial will be in Mosley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Ga.

Mrs. Gordon died Thursday.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Gordon of Marietta; a brother, A.J. Sears Sr. of Woodland, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gordon was born in Woodland, a former resident of Austell, Ga., and had lived in Marietta since 1997. She was a member of Powder Springs First Baptist Church.

Graveside services for Willie Mae Hill, 88, of Jacksonville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jacksonville City Cemetery with Rev. Truman Norred officiating and K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill died Thursday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Jasper "Jap" Hill of Jacksonville and Jerry B. Hill of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a grandchild, Rodney Hill, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hill was a native of Calhoun County and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hill.
