Hancock

TALLADEGA

Services for Richard Lewis "Butch" Hancock, 95, of Talladega will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

Mr. Hancock died Sunday at Talladega Healthcare Center.

Hertel

Services for Col. Oliver Rollo Hertel, 91, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Mausoleum in Anniston with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The body will be at the mausoleum an hour prior to services.

Mr. Hertel died Sunday in Anniston.

Higginbotham

Services for Quinton Earl Higginbotham, 80, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Oxford with Dr. Ron Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Higginbotham died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Higginbotham of Anniston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Belinda Higginbotham of Virginia and Billy Wayne Higginbotham of Jacksonville; a sister, Delores Sisk of Florida; three grandchildren, Meko Venegas and her husband, Mayo, Shaa' Bolt and her husband, Jason, and Jessica Higginbotham; two great-grandchildren, Blakeli Bolt and Makenzi Venegas; and 20 nieces and 12 nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Crossley, Keith Crossley, Randy Haynes, Freddy Williams, Jason Bolt and Mayo Venegas.

Mr. Higginbotham had lived in Anniston 60 years and was a World War II Army veteran. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Oxford and a member of the American Legion Post 57 in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Sue Higginbotham.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Oxford.

Johnson

JACKSONVILLE

Services for Rev. Macon D. "Easy" Johnson, 83, of Jacksonville will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Seibers Cemetery in Pleasant Valley. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Edna V. Johnson of Jacksonville; a daughter and her husband, Neva A. and Rickey Hudson of Jacksonville; four sons, Phillip K. Johnson and his wife, Deneen, Ricky S. Johnson, Terry Johnson and Guy "Goob" Johnson, all of Jacksonville; two sisters, Doris Shew of Jacksonville and Nadine Garner of Huntsville; four brothers, Miles D. Johnson, Stanley Neal Johnson, Charles Johnson and Donald Johnson, all of Jacksonville, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Randy Wilbanks, Tommy Johnson, Phil Johnson Jr., Jacob Johnson, Don Johnson and Henry Green.

Mr. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was an Army World War II veteran, where he served in the 9th Armor Division. He was a member of the Church of the Nine Gifts and of Holiness faith. He was retired from AOD and the owner of Johnson Insulation Company. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Billy Joe Johnson.

Martin

HEFLIN

Services for Wynell Martin, 72, of Heflin will be today at 11 a.m. at Dryden Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Davis officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Martin died Saturday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a brother, John L. Watson of Trickem Valley; three sisters, Lucille Watson of Trickem Valley, Edith Eaton of Elma, N.Y. and Reba Myers of Heflin; and a sister-in-law, Aline Watson of Trickem Valley.

Mrs. Martin was a native of Cleburne County and a former resident of Birmingham. She was a housewife and was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Martin.

Redden

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

Services for Jake Mayberry Redden, 89, of Jacksonville will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home with Rev. David Spaulding officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Redden died Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Kaple Redden; a daughter, Mary Olivia Redden; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Redden; two grandchildren, Alan Redden and Brian Hale; a great-grandchild, John Chessor Redden, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Redden was a native of Sulligent and had attended the University of Alabama. He worked for FHA in Birmingham and was transferred to Jacksonville in 1952 and retired in 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Morocco Temple, Ala. A Club and National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Redden.

Burns

ALEXANDRIA

Graveside services for Myrtle G. Burns, 75, of Alexandria will be today at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Scotty Diggs officiating and Chapel Hill Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miss Burns died Monday at her residence.

Survivors include three sisters, Edna Wade of Anniston, and Nan Phillips and Grace Burns, both of Alexandria; and two brothers, Grady Burns of Alexandria and Billy Burns of Anniston.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Whiteside, Randy Burns, David Shirley, William Mahaffey, David Rexrode, Keith Phillips and Mark Brown.

Miss Burns was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and former employee of Anniston Laundry. She was preceded in death by a sister, Johnnie Whiteside.

Chatmon

CHOCCOLOCCO

Services for Collie Chatmon, 67, of Choccolocco will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Sloan Gresham officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Bynum with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour before services. The family will receive friends from 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Chatmon died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Dovie Chatmon of Choccolocco; two daughters, Martha Ann Chatmon and Kathleen Ball, both of Choccolocco; six sons, Jerome Chatmon of Birmingham, Stanley B. Chatmon of Atlanta, Charles Chatmon and Christopher Chatmon, both of Oxford, and Travis Chatmon and Jaushua Chatmon, both of Choccolocco; four sisters, Louise Wilcox and Gertrude Davis, both of Atlanta, Bobbye Chatmon of Villa Rica, Ga., and Flora Chatmon of Choccolocco; an adopted son, Terry Bradford of Choccolocco; and two adopted daughters, Sandra Brockman and Carolyn Gilbert, both of Choccolocco.

Pallbearers will be Terry Bradford, Melvin Ervin, John McLemore, James Gentry, Calvin Wilson and Donald Ray Williams.

Mr. Chatmon was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He retired from FMC, and was very active in the Choccolocco community.

Couch

PIEDMONT

Services for Mozelle Studdard Couch, 88, of Piedmont will be today at 2 p.m. at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Welch officiating. Burial will be in Littlejohn Cemetery with Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Couch died Tuesday at her home.

Survivors include a sister, Bernice S. McElwee of Jacksonville; a nephew, Walter C. Studdard; a niece, Mary Young; and several other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Studdard, Walter Studdard, Dois McElwee, Johnny Studdard, Kevin Holder and Derrel Jordan.

Mrs. Couch was born and raised in Piedmont. She was a cattle farmer, retired from Linen Thread, and was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Couch; two sisters, Agnes S. Studdard and Imo S. Goodwin; and a brother, Eunice Abner Studdard.

Denson

Services for Mary E. Denson, 72, of Anniston will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of DeArmanville with the Rev. Dr. Nelson Kuykendall and the Rev. Pete Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denson died Monday at Stringfellow Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Paul Denson of Anniston; a son, Paul Ray "Sonny" Denson of Delta; two daughters, Charlotte Alldredge of Anniston and Shirley Giddens of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, Ed Harris of Eastaboga; a sister, Willie Ann Albea of Anniston; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Estes, Buddy Carden, Kyle Black, Sonny Green, Taft Reeves, Danny Harris and Phillip Denson.

Mrs. Denson was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was owner and operator of Mary's Beauty Nook for 34 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of DeArmanville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norris N. Harris and Doyle Harris; and an infant son, Michael Allen Denson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of DeArmanville General Fund.
