Services for Harold Royster, 75, of Ashland will be today at 4 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home with Revs. David Holmes and Bill Parker officiating. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Royster died Monday at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Royster of Ashland; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Mack Lovelady of Montgomery; a son and his wife, Randy and Sandra Royster of Pell City; two stepsisters, LaRue Amason and Anita Rush, both of Cragford; and three grandchildren, Andrew Lovelady, Anthony Lovelady and Abbey Lovelady.

Pallbearers will be Gene Nolen, Phil Cornelison, Jim Bob Burkehead, Bill Bell, John M. Adams, James McDonald, Bill Saxon and Joe Runyan.

Mr. Royster was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He had been co-founder and partner of Royster Enterprises Inc. since 1964 and an Army World War II veteran. He was a charter member of Veterans of Foreign War 3215 of Ashland and a life member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, both in Alexander City, and the National Star Route Mail Contractors Association. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity.

Services for Charles "Chick" Smiley, 72, of Talladega will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

Mr. Smiley died Sunday at his home.

Mrs. Sturkie died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

Services for Robert Winston Ellison Sr., 91, of Yorktown, formerly of Bynum, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Tower of Memories Chapel at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va., with Rev. Frederick O. Forry officiating and W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Ellison died Tuesday.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Ellison Jr. of Prattville and James and Tommie Ellison of Yorktown; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ellison was a native of Boyle, Miss., and a former resident of Bynum. He had lived in Virginia since 1995. He was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church in Newport News, Va. He retired in 1970 after 40 years of service as a cafeteria manager with Southern Cafeteria in Bynum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Living Memorial Bible Plan, P.O. Box 6373, Newport News, VA 23606.

Graveside services for Sterling Few Jr., 70, of Ashland will be today at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Thompson Pitts officiating and Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home until service time.

Mr. Few died Monday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include a son, Randall Few of Anniston; two sisters, Sue Pace of Ashland and Marie Ford of Anniston; and a brother, Cecil Few of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Gary Few, Rodney Walker, Tyler Otwell, Carl Skinner, Mike Coleman, Edward Walker, Bob Fortenberry and Mark Smith.

Mr. Few was a native of Calhoun County, where he lived most of his life, and had lived in Ashland 10 years. He was a Baptist.

Services for Mazie Butler Griffin, 80, of Rydal, formerly of Cedar Bluff, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Revs. Marvin Glass and Bill Crane officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griffin died Tuesday in Rome, Ga.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Creekmur of Panama City, Fla. and Susan and George Long of Rydal; a sister, Myrtle LeCroy of Gadsden; three brothers, J.C. Butler of Cedar Bluff and Louis Butler and Irby Butler, both of Gadsden; two grandchildren, Roy L. Creekmur III and Olivia Long, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Griffin was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Lafayette Jackson and Rosie Leona Woodall Butler. She was a member of Huffaker Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Services for Leslie Brackett Jackson, 80, of Centre will be today at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Pollard officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Jackson died Monday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Larry Jackson of Centre; two sisters, Grace Chambers of Centre and Edith Pitts of Rhine, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Hopper, Caldwell Hopper, Ronald Brackett, Blake Chambers, Jerry Benefield and Kenneth Dobbs.

Mrs. Jackson was a native of Dahlonega, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Henry Grady and Carrie Free Brackett. She was retired from Johnson and Johnson and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Services for Terry Belmont Jones, 61, of Anniston will be today at 4 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will be in Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jones died Sunday at UAB Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Virgia "Tootsie" Jones; a son, Terry Jones II of Oxford; two daughters, Metha Vickers of Alabaster and Donna Barnett of Bryson City, N.C.; four brothers, Gordon Jones of Talladega, Hy Jones of White Plains, Jimmy Freeman Scott of Oxford and James Scott of Humble, Texas; a sister, Susie Fee of Pitkin, La.; and six grandchildren, Jason Vickers, Kevin Ellis, Terry "T.J." Jones III, Cody Ellis, Krista Jones and Tyler Ellis.

Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge 155.

Mr. Jones was a Mason and was a member of Eastaboga Lodge 155. He was retired from FMC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vida and Walton Leon "Gib" Jones; and a sister, Betty Holloway.

Services for Rev. Marvin William Paul Lanier, 76, of Anniston will be Thursday at 2 p.m. (EDT) at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church in Sylvester, Ga. with Revs. Fred Shelnutt and Paul Stewart Lanier officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester, Ga., with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Lanier died Monday in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Stewart Lanier of Anniston; a daughter and her husband, Diane Lanier Thompson and Dr. Paul B. Thompson of West Lafayette, Ind.; a son and his wife, Rev. Paul Stewart Lanier and Rev. Stacey Gould Lanier of Ayer, Mass.; a sister, Emily Lanier Bayliss of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Martha Stewart McNaron and Homer E. McNaron of Anniston; five grandchildren, Dory Thompson, Walker Thompson, Emilee Lanier, Georgia Lanier and Helen Lanier, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Thompson, David Patte, Edward Burnap, Jimmy Parker, Jim Parker and Theo Parker.

Mr. Lanier was a native of Arkansas and had attended Hendrix College, the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and the Chaplaincy Institute of Religion of Houston, Texas. After serving in churches in the North Arkansas Conference and Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church for 37 years, he retired to Georgia and Alabama. He was past president of Common Cause of Georgia and was recognized for 50 years of service in the United Methodist Church Ministry. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 118, Sylvester, GA 31791; the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 N. W. 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136; or to a favorite charity.

Services for R. Lee Molock Morrison, 83, of Thomaston, formerly of Piedmont, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont with Revs. Woody Lee and Jerry Pike officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont. Coggins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morrison died Monday at Providence Nursing Care Center.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Morrison of Thomaston, formerly of Piedmont; two daughters, Joann Blouin of Duluth, Ga., and Peggy Whittington of Birmingham; two sisters, Ann Minton and Bernice Jordan, both of Thomaston, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Morrison was a native of Cherokee County and formerly lived in Piedmont for many years. She was employed by Standard Coosa Thacker and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
