Painter

OXFORD

Graveside services for Troy Lee Painter, 85, of Oxford will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Rev. Hillman Burt officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Painter died Tuesday at Beckwood Manor.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Leibrock of Ohio and Rachel Humphrey of Calhoun County; a son, Daulton Painter of Oxford; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Herring, Bobby Miller, Danny Slick, L.D. Lackey, James Miller and Donald Hilton.

Mr. Painter was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vaudie Painter, and a son, Rayburn Painter.

Turner

ALEXANDRIA

Services for William Curtis Turner, 76, of Alexandria will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Horace Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner died Tuesday at his home.

Waldrop

LINEVILLE

Services for Doris Waldrop, 65, of Lineville will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dinglers Chapel Christian Church with Revs. Robert L. Harris and Charlie Bolt officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 3:30-8 tonight and until one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Waldrop died Monday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Waldrop of Lineville; two daughters, Vickie Robertson and Theresa Higgins, both of Lineville; a son, Steven Waldrop of Lineville; his father, Jessie Waldrop of Lineville; a sister, Elaree McCormick of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Jerry Mack Waldrop of Carrollton, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Steven Robertson Jr., Carrie Higgins, Sam Robertson, Cody Higgins, Will Waldrop and Briana Waldrop.

Pallbearers will be Wayland Jarrell, Scotty Ward, Eddie Creed, Steven Robertson Jr., Sam Robertson, Cody Higgins and Will Waldrop.

Mr. Waldrop was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was the owner and operator of Waldrops Service Station for more than 20 years. He and his wife started The Waldrop Family Singers more than 30 years ago. He was a member of Ashland Church of God. He was preceded in death by his mother, Era East Waldrop, and a brother, Leland Waldrop.

Barber

HEFLIN

Services for Mary Lee Barber, 80, of Heflin will be today at 11 a.m. at Dryden Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lower Cane Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barber died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Barber of Anniston and Earl Wayne Smith and Larry and Peggy Smith, all of Heflin, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Barber, Shane Barber, Jody Brimer, Ronnie Langley, Seldon Langley, Mike Pentecost and Mark Smith.

Mrs. Barber was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a housewife.

Services for Christine Coleman, 76, of Jacksonville will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Ms. Coleman died Tuesday at her home.

Crabtree

MOBILE

Services for V. Forrest Crabtree Jr. of Mobile were Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Burial was in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Mr. Crabtree died Sept. 30.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gordon Crabtree; two children, Ann Shirk of Atlanta and Phil Crabtree and his wife, Debbie, of Mobile; a brother, Dr. Samuel F. Crabtree of Anniston; a sister, Mary Hare of Monroeville; and five grandchildren, Forrest Gaines Crabtree, Stuart Phillips Crabtree, David Gordon Shirk, Brian Thomas Shirk and Sandra Elizabeth Shirk.

Mr. Crabtree was a native of Greensboro and had lived in Mobile 35 years. He was a 1938 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in chemical engineering. He was employed by International Paper Company for 43 years. He worked in Natchez and Moss Point, Miss., and Camden, Ark., before moving to Mobile. He was the manager of manufacturing of the Southern Kraft Division and later manager of Wood Products. He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Forrest Crabtree III.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Langley

HEFLIN

Services for Arlin Lawrence Langley, 75, of Heflin will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Methodist Church with Revs. Bobby Brooks and Don Henley officiating. Burial will be in Heflin City Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Langley died Tuesday at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Turner of Heflin and Carol Butler of Attalla; two sons, Jimmy Langley of McAlister, Okla. and Kenneth Todd Langley of Munford; a brother, Tifton Langley of Cedartown, Ga., nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Fred Turner, David Barnett, Delane Noell, Butch Long, Ricky Benefield, David Richardson and Wendall Buckhannan.

Mr. Langley was a native of Randolph County and had lived in Cleburne County most of his life. He was the former owner of Langley Grocery Store. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Langley.

Monroe

GULF BREEZE, Fla.

Services for Sula Stephens Monroe, 92, of Gulf Breeze, formerly of Talladega, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Lowell Ledbetter officiating. Graveside services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Anniston. The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Monroe died Tuesday at her home.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Carl D. Monroe Jr. and Martha Jo Monroe of Navarre, Fla.; a sister, Lorene Allsup of Fort Payne; a brother, Arthur Stephens of Gadsden; three grandchildren, Dean Monroe, Jeffrey Monroe and Julie Monroe; and two great-grandchildren, Jeffery Monroe and Payton Monroe.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and students of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind and members of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Monroe was a native of Calhoun County and had lived in Talladega 50 years. She was an employee of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind for more than 30 years. She had lived in Gulf Breeze since 1997. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dean Monroe Sr.

Services for Agnes Rogers, 79, of Piedmont will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Hayward Clark officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Miss Rogers died Wednesday at her home.

Survivors include her caregivers, Frank and Gail Cobb of Piedmont; a sister, Ruby Martin Kimberly of Piedmont; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B. and Carrie Lou Rogers of Centre and Dueal and Joyce Rogers of Piedmont; two special friends, Lauren Cobb and Ethan Floyd; and 11 nieces and nephews, Debbie Bishop, Gail Cobb, Jimmy Rogers, Brenda Formby, Jeff Rogers, Martha Lee Smelley, David Martin, Connie Webb, Johnny Woolf, Sherry Givens and Jerry Wayne Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Cobb, Matt Rogers, Rodney Floyd, Gary Adkison, Michael Smelley and David Martin.

Miss Rogers was a native and lifelong resident of the Piedmont area. She attended Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church and was retired from SCT Yarn after 42 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Lizzie Rogers; and two brothers, W.T. "Cowboy" Rogers and Howard Rogers.

DECATUR, Tenn.

Graveside services for Richard O'Neil "Ricky" Hughey Rogers, 46, of Decatur will be today at 11 a.m. at Box Cemetery in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. with Rev. Eddie Hopkins officiating and Luff Bowen Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Rogers died Tuesday in Athens, Tenn.

Survivors include his mother, Lucille Murphree Wallace of Decatur; two sons, Jimmy Rogers of Waverly, Tenn. and Dakota Rogers of Dickson, Tenn.; four daughters, Elizabeth Barnett of Wedowee, Melissa Bishop of Oxford, Juanita Rogers of Lineville and Harleigh Rogers of Dickson; his grandmother, Odie Murphree of Decatur; two brothers, Mike Hughey of Waverly and Donnie Rogers of St. Louis; a sister, Lynn Collins of Waverly, six grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren.

Mr. Rogers was born in McEwen, Tenn., and was a self-employed carpenter and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Reed Hughey; his wife, Brenda Watts Rogers; a brother, Tony Hughey; his grandfather, Nelson Murphree; and an uncle, Junior Murphree.
