Clark

EASTABOGA

Services for Matthew Kyle Clark, 14, of Eastaboga will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Eastaboga Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

The youth died Thursday at his home.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kemberly and Scotty Myrick of Eastaboga; two brothers, Allen Clark and Ben Clark, both of Eastaboga; his great-grandfather, Robert Peters of Eastaboga; his grandparents, Bobby and Faye Myrick of Childersburg; an aunt, Christa Harmon of Eastaboga; an uncle, Bryan Harmon of Eastaboga, and six cousins.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Weaver, Wayne Burns, Steve Doss, Kenneth Cotton, Aaron Brewer and Ed Ramsey.

The youth was a native and lifelong resident of Eastaboga. He was a member of the Wellborn High School choir and a talented and avid artist.

Dobbins

Services for Tommie B. Dobbins, 98, of Anniston will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ervin Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Dobbins died Sunday at Beverly Health Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Emma B. Walker of Anniston; a son, Fred Pinkard of Anniston, four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 36 great-great-grandchildren.

Duncan

WEAVER

Services for Nola Duncan, 70, of Weaver will be today at 11 a.m. at Word Alive International Outreach with Pastor Kent Mattox and Rev. Tim Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge.

Mrs. Duncan died Tuesday at Baptist Montclair.

Survivors include her husband, James Duncan of Weaver; her mother, Susie Bowden of Gadsden; two daughters and a son-law, Darla Duncan of Weaver and Loretta and William Haynes of Gadsden; a son and his wife, Curtis and Tammy Duncan of Gadsden; a sister, Barbara Stoffergen of Gadsden; a brother, Ted Elseberry of Gadsden; two grandchildren, Melissa Martin and David Martin Jr., and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Harrelson, Rodney Griffin, Steve Waters, Greg Byrn, James Morris and Dr. Jose Caballero.

Mrs. Duncan was a lifelong resident of Weaver and had been a nurse for 13 years. She founded the Women Ablaze Foundation and the Dorcus Home for abused women and children. She also ministered in Cypress and Germany, was a member of Word Alive International Outreach, and was an active missionary. She was preceded in death by her father, Lindsey Elseberry Sr.; a brother, Lindsey Elseberry Jr.; and a sister, Louise Philmore.

Services for Leila Harmon, 71, of Talladega will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harmon died Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham.

McBrayer

Services for Robbie Ruth McBrayer, 67, of Anniston will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Anniston with Rev. Basil Key officiating. Burial will be in Geraldine Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. McBrayer died Wednesday in Anniston.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford McBrayer of Anniston; three daughters, Juanita Goggans of Commerce, Ga., Pamela Stone of Decatur, Ga. and Deborah Preston of Anniston; a son, Clifford Dale McBrayer of Anniston; a sister, Ann Donaldson of Albertville; three brothers, Leonard McGuffie of Ashville, Carl McGuffie of Kentucky and Kenneth McGuffie of Ohio, 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Cotton, Charlie Morgan, Eliezar Lackey, Nick Preston, Andy Decker, Calvin Lackey Jr., Woody Wilson and Robert Nesbit.

Mrs. McBrayer was a native of Ragland and had lived in Calhoun County many years. She was a housewife and a mother.

Memorial services for Timothy Whiddon McRae, 55, of Anniston will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Father Robert Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. McRae died Monday in Wedowee.

Survivors include his wife, Sue S. McRae of Anniston; two daughters, Georgia Carlton McRae of DeArmanville and Hillyer McRae Stevenson of Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Davis McRae of Melbourne, Fla. and Cathy Norton McRae of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Christopher Robinson McRae of Charleston, S.C. and Mark Woods McRae of Helena; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ora and W.T. Simmons; two nieces, Caitlin Nicole McRae and Erin Elizabeth McRae; two nephews, Colin Alexander Byrne McRae and Michael Emmett McRae; and four grandchildren, William Timothy "Iry" McRae Martin, Josiah Marley McRae, Nicholas Christian Stevenson and Hannah McRae Stevenson.

Mr. McRae was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He attended Clemson University and Valdosta State. He was a former president and board member of the American Cancer Society, where he also served as crusade chairman. He was a member of the Sertoma Club, the Rotary Club, the Explorer Scouting Program and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Memorial services for Virginia Young Mooney, 81, of Anniston will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian with Rev. Alex Stevens officiating and Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Mooney died Monday at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Michael and Deborah R. Mooney of Asheville, N.C.; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Kenneth Chappell and Kathy and William R. Carleton Jr., all of Pell City; a brother, Fred Young of Niles, Mich.; two sisters, Dorothy Knox of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Helen Zabel of Bloomington, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Lexie Young Carleton, Ryan Mooney and Trevor Carleton.

Mrs. Mooney was a native of Niles, Mich., and had lived in Calhoun County 33 years. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian and the Golden Springs Golden Girls. She was a volunteer at Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 25 years and the RMC Oncology Unit.

Mr. Moore died Wednesday in New Site.

Payne

TALLAPOOSA, Ga.

Graveside services for James Luther "Dee" Payne, 73, of Tallapoosa were Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa. Rev. Homer Wysner officiated and Miller Funeral Home of Tallapoosa was in charge.

Mr. Payne died Nov. 22 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Hammond Payne of Tallapoosa; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David "Cricket" and Sue Payne of Heflin and Robert and Denise Payne and Jerry Payne, all of Tallapoosa; three brothers, Henry Payne, Bob Payne and Bill Payne, all of Georgia; a sister, Josie Long of Fruithurst, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kurt Turner, Chad Payne, Lawrence Robinson, Beau Sasser, Greg Payne and Donald McCloud.

Mr. Payne was a native of Cleburne County. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Raymond Payne and Nancy Annie Cain Payne; two grandchildren, David William Payne and Hannah Payne; two brothers, Leroy Payne and Alonzo Payne; and a sister, Ophlia Cates.

OXFORD

Services for Zella L. "Granny Skeet" Roberson of Oxford will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the funeral home as well as at 329 Chestnut Ave., Anniston.

Mrs. Roberson died Wednesday at her home.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Joe Roberson of Oxford and Jerry Lewis Roberson of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Ella Aron of Panama City; two sisters, Hattie Denham of Panama City and Dorothy Taylor of Jacksonville, 23 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cooper, James Wilson Sr., Frank Barnhill, Art Jennings, Joey Brush and Kenny Willingham.

Graveside services for Melvin Ernest Shafer Sr., 73, of Anniston will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with his son, Melvin E. Shafer Jr. officiating and Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge.

Mr. Shafer died Thursday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Freda E. Giddens Shafer of Anniston; five daughters, Carlyse Archambault of Duluth, Ga., Vanessa Ross of Memphis, Tenn., Freda Wood of Oxford and Samantha Shafer and Ursula Ganato of Anniston; a son, Melvin E. Shafer Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Ruth Hayter of Missouri; two brothers, George Albert Shafer of Missouri and Robert Lewis Shafer of California, 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shafer was a native of New Hartford, Conn., and had lived in Calhoun County since 1972. He was retired from Blue Mountain Industries and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of East Alabama, P.O. Box 2581, Anniston, AL 36202.
