Green

OXFORD

Services for Franklin Green, 72, of Oxford will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home with Rev. George McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Green died Friday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Green of Oxford; two sons, Wayne Green of Jacksonville and Ray Green of Piedmont; a brother, A.D. Green of Anniston, and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Taber Jr., David King, Buddy Coley, Stanley Clark, Phil Richards, Darrell Wallace, Charlie Parris and Eddie Parris.

Mr. Green was an Army and a Korean War veteran. He was retired from National Gypsum after 36 years of service.

Hurston

Graveside services for infant Tyler Edward Hurston of Anniston will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Anniston with Rev. Ray Morris officiating and Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Oxford.

The infant died Wednesday at his home.

Survivors include his mother, Natasha Hurston of Anniston; his father, Marty Fortenberry; his grandmother, Scarlet Hurston of Anniston; and two uncles, Brandon Scott Hurston and Skyler Dewayne Hurston.

Hyatt

RANBURNE

Services for Tessie Lee Hyatt, 84, of Ranburne, formerly of Heard County, Ga., will be Sunday at 2 p.m. (EST) at Rainwater and West Funeral Home in Bowdon, Ga. with Revs. J.M. Jones and T.J. Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hyatt died Friday.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Hyatt of Ranburne; two daughters, Ludene Morgan of Ranburne and Barbara Mitchell of Franklin, Ga.; two brothers, William T. “Bill” Nunis of Bremen, Ga. and Johnny Nunis of LaGrange, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Noles of Bowdon and Chestine Wiggins of Carrollton, Ga., eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Rhonda Lyner of Ranburne.

Pallbearers will be Brian Watson, Josh Watson, Darrell Wright, Marty Nunis, Dewayne Noles and Michael Watson.

Mrs. Hyatt was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She was retired from Trintex Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pleas Hyatt; three sisters, Geneva Edwards, Maudie Laney and Evelyn Proctor; and a grandchild, Tony Hyatt.

Jackson

SAKS

Graveside services for L.C. Jackson, 79, of Saks will be today at 1 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating and Anniston Memorial Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson died Thursday at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include his wife, Martha J. Jackson of Saks; three daughters, Sandra Olds of Columbus, Ga., Rita Wells of Anniston and Peggy Luallen of Alexandria; three sons, Robert E. Jackson of Oxford, Wayne Jackson of Starkville, Miss., and Larry Jackson of Saks; a sister, Orlis Webb of Alexandria, 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mr. Jackson was a 28-year Army veteran and a World War II veteran. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 57, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 24, Alexandria Masonic Lodge 208 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 924. He was a Baptist.

Martin

Services for Logan Wade Martin, 1, infant son of Matthew and Brandy Martin of Anniston, will be announced by Anniston Memorial Funeral Home.

The child died Friday at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Moncus

CRAGFORD

Services for Judy Moncus, 51, of Cragford will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South) Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 tonight and until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moncus died Friday at Russell Hospital in Alexander City.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Moncus of Cragford; two sons, James Hayes of Alexander City and Jason Hayes of New Site; two sisters, Melissa Weaver of Alexander City and Melinda Henderson of Dadeville; and two brothers, Jimmy Cosby and Johnny Pitts, both of Dadeville.

Pallbearers will be Derek Humphrey, Brad Cotter, Brent Cotter, Thomas Spurlin, Wesley Cosby and Keith Henderson.

Mrs. Moncus was a native of Elmore County and had lived in Cragford 11 years. She was employed as a clerk at Lynn’s Kwik Shop and was a Baptist.

Reaves

Graveside services for Edith Snead Reaves, 80, of Anniston will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. If raining, the service will be at Forestlawn Mausoleum Chapel.

Mrs. Reaves died Thursday at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include a sister, Velma Wood of Jacksonville; a brother, J.T. Snead of Brooks, Ky.; her caregivers, Tom and Paula Sharp of Anniston, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reaves was a member of McCoy United Methodist Church and was retired from AmSouth Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Reaves.

The family requests no flowers.

Smith

O’BRIEN

Services for Ervin Leon Smith, 65, of O’Brien were Friday at 11 a.m. at Biggs Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Barfield Cemetery in Lineville. Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville is in charge.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 1.

Survivors include his wife, Ina Coleen Smith of O’Brien; a son and his wife, Richard and Kimberly Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Cyndi and Tom Florio of Tamarac, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Judy and Billy Houck of Atlanta, and four grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was a native of Lineville and a former resident of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for 35 years. He lived in O’Brien five years. He was a Navy veteran and a founding member of the Sunrise Volunteer Fire Department in Sunrise, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, Rt. 2 Box 4000, Fort White, FL 32038.

Graveside services for Joyce Knighten Smith, 61, of Piedmont will be today at 2 p.m. at Little John’s Cemetery in Piedmont with Rev. Gary Faith officiating and Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday.

Survivors include her husband, David Glen Smith; a son and his wife, Lanny and Denise Reeves; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Maurice Flynn and Lisa and Dale Donaldson; a stepson, David Glen Smith Jr.; a brother, Harm Ashley; four sisters, Minnie Bean, Marie Wolfford, Mary Turley and Dorothy Gunter; nine grandchildren, Wendy Reeves, Dylan Reeves, Ashley Reeves, Rachel Reeves, Kristin Pruitt, Megan Poole, Kasey Knighten, Anthony Knighten and Jeremy Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alton Smith, Wayne Turley, Joe Wolfford, Sammy Wolfford and Jimmy Wolfford.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Etowah County and had lived in Calhoun County most of her life. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Reeves; and three brothers, Buddy Ashley, Leroy Ashley and Jimmy Ashley.

Services for Vera Beatrice Smith, 90, of the Hollingsworth Community will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of White Plains with Revs. Eric Snider, Ronnie Harris, Jerry Pike and Thomas Clay officiating. Burial will be in White Plains Cemetery. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel.

Mrs. Smith died Thursday in Anniston.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Diane and Thomas Clay of Jacksonville; two sons and their wives, Thomas and Dorothy Smith of Anniston and Horace and Shirley Smith of Heflin; a sister, Virginia Clay of Jacksonville; two brothers, Henry Arnette of Austell, Ga. and Forney Arnette of Douglasville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Bridgette Bonner, Alexandria Clay, Terry Smith, Rhonda Lines, Shane Smith, Mike Smith, Susan Nichols, Ruthie Snider, Dorothy Frames, Curtis Beasley, Samuel Beasley, Tommy Clay and Richard Clay, 15 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Smith, Shane Smith, Mike Smith, Patric Bonner, Curtis Beasley, Tommy Clay and Richard Clay. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of First Baptist Church of White Plains for 62 years. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie J. Smith, and a son, Bennie J. Smith Jr.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of White Plains, 50 Dove Lane, Anniston, AL 26207.

Services for Shirley B. Snow, 64, of Anniston will be today at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Very Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A rosary service will be at 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Snow died Friday at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Peck Manuel of Lake Charles, La. and Samantha Kelly Shurbutt of Anniston; a son, Donald Fontenot of Lake Charles; two brothers, Ralph Ezell of Anniston and Harold Ezell of Riverside; two sisters, Hazel Phillips of Talladega and Helen Doss of Anniston; four grandchildren, Blake Peck, Cody Peck, Mason Chumbler and Timberlyn Shurbutt; and a great-grandchild, Lexi Rae Peck.

Pallbearers will be Blake Peck, Cody Peck, Stuart Foster, Jim Adams, Robert Ryder and Butch Maloney.

Mrs. Snow was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was retired from Wessex House Nursing Home. She was a former employee of Bill Ward Insurance and Harris-McKay Realty. She was the co-owner of Snow Brick Company and the owner of Crossroads Book Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam K. Snow, and a son, Benny Fontenot.
