Summers

OPELIKA

Services for Lou Ernest "Shug" Summers of Opelika will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peterson and Williams Funeral Home in Opelika with Rev. Arthur Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Church Cemetery. A family hour will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Summers died Tuesday at Care Center of Opelika.

Survivors include a sister, Mary "Chunk" Malone of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Sallie J. Malone of Marvyn, Susie S. Malone of Columbus and Merilyn Lewis and her husband, Eugene, of Anniston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At an early age, Mrs. Summers joined Union Grove Baptist Church and upon moving to Anniston, she joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she remained a member until she moved to Opelika. While in Anniston, she was a member of the Friendly "12" Social Club.

White

Graveside services for Willie Idell White, 93, of Anniston will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Edgemont Cemetery with Rev. Mike Holcomb officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. White died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, James Frank White of Atlanta; a daughter, Ruth White Mathis of Anniston, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. White was a native of Calhoun County and lifelong resident of Birmingham and Calhoun County. She was retired from Loveman's Department Store after 25 years of service and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace White, and a son-in-law, Buford H. Mathis.

Bundrum

ATLANTA

Services for Charlotte Boozer Bundrum, 57, of Atlanta, formerly of Jacksonville, will be announced by K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Bundrum died Friday at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Drummond

EULATON

Services for Jessie Willingham Drummond, 91, of Eulaton will be Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Alan Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Drummond died Friday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a grandchild, Karen Keller of Deland, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Mrs. Drummond was a native of Winston County and had lived in Eulaton most of her life. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from I.G.A. in Bynum. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. “Bill” Drummond.

Goray

Services for Dorothy J. Rich Goray, 76, of Anniston will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Dr. Nelson Kuykendall officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Goray died Wednesday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Sam P. Goray of Anniston; a son and his wife, David Michael and Donna Gail Goray of Jacksonville; two daughters and their husbands, Donna Marie Goray, Johnny Lee Dempsey, Debra Ann Davis and Gary Michael Davis, all of Anniston; a sister, Mary Frances Garrett of Saks; three grandchildren, Amber Goray, Alicia Davis and Emily Davis; and eight stepgrandchildren, Sharon Voshell, Shaina Edwards, Pamala Walker, Matthew Walker, Dustin Walker, Dana Wright, Christopher Dempsey and Michael Dempsey.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Gaither, Gerald Gaither, Bobby Pickard, Jerry Curry, Roger Griffin, Daryl Adkison, and Gerard Molino.

Mrs. Goray was a native of Anniston, where she lived most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Russ and Bessie Downs. and four brothers, Howard Rich, Bill Rich, Robert Rich and Walter Rich.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Anniston Emergency and Rescue Squad, 210 W. 14th St., Anniston, AL 36201.

Jackson

BIRMINGHAM

Services for Rachel Ann Jackson, 36, of Birmingham will be today at 11 a.m. at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Rev. Danny Waddell officiating. Burial will be in Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Jackson died Thursday.

Survivors include her mother, Hellen Smith Jackson of Birmingham; her father, William A. Jackson of Birmingham; a brother, J. Scott Jackson of Ellicott City, Md.; her grandmother, Lillian Jackson of Vincent; and aunts and uncles and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ms. Jackson was a native of Birmingham, where she lived most of her life, and had lived in Long Beach, Calif. for the last several months, where she taught music at Mars Music Company. She was a graduate of The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was a member of South Highlands Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the Alabama School of Fine Arts, 1800 Eighth Ave. N., Birmingham, AL 35203.

Miller

Services for Thomas Edison Miller, 83, of Anniston will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Mitchell Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Carol and Kevin Kulp of Anniston; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Pete and Helen Tomlin, Danny Kent and Terry Buttram, all of Anniston and James Craig of Piedmont; two brothers, Marvin Miller of Tennessee and David Miller of Huntsville; a sister, Marie Short of Florida; and three grandchildren, Katherine Kulp, Cody Kulp and Coleton Tomlin.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Kulp, Thomas Kulp Jr., Randy Kulp, Robert Kulp, Tim Czer and Danny Williams.

Together with his late wife, Sylvia “Boots” Miller, Mr. Miller was a foster parent to more than 126 children during his lifetime. He was a deacon at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church and had worked as a security guard for several years.

Montgomery

EASTABOGA

Services for Shirley Ann Montgomery, 52, of Eastaboga, formerly of Gainesville, Fla., will be today at noon at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Roger Montgomery and L.L. Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Montgomery died Monday at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Montgomery Sr. of Eastaboga; three daughters, Bysheik A. Montgomery and Bokassa B. Montgomery, both of Anniston and Jadi Montgomery of Eastaboga; two sons, Tracy Lamar Anderson of Charlotte, N.C. and Jerry Montgomery Jr. of Eastaboga; four sisters, Velma Montgomery, Pamela Anderson, Pauline Anderson and Lashonda Anderson, all of Gainesville; a brother, Hudson Anderson Jr. of Gainesville, and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Eastaboga.

Roberts

Services for Mabel Harding Roberts, 98, of Anniston will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Mausoleum with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Monday in the Fireside Room of the church.

Mrs. Roberts died Thursday in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, 1205 Quintard Ave., Anniston, AL 36201.

Smith

Services for Nellie Ethel Gray Smith, 78, of Anniston will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with Rev. Danny Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Sam N. Smith of Anniston; a son, Howard M. Williams of Lincoln; five stepsons, Gerald Smith and Gary Smith, both of Eastaboga, Donald Smith of Coldwater and Sammy Smith and Robin Smith, both of Anniston; a daughter, Eva W. McCullars of Eastaboga; a stepdaughter, Karen Johnson of Anniston; a sister, Polly Mattox of Ashland; grandchildren, David Williams, Cassandra Thompson, Angel McDaniel, Shelly Gauldin, Camron Smith, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Jeffers, Sammy Smith, Jeremy Duke, Scott Parsons, Danny Parsons and Greg Mattox.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Michael W. “Wild Man” Williams, and seven brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity.

Swain

MARKHAM, Ill.

Services for Otis Daniel Swain, 62, of Markham, formerly of Alpine, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kings Chapel Congregational Church in Alpine with Rev. Van T. Welch and Terry Swain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Sims Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Swain died Sunday at Ingle’s Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Ill.

Survivors include four daughters, Yolanda Swain of Zion, Ill., Kimberly Swain of Minneapolis and Latricia Swain and Lashonn Swain, both of Markham; two sons, Otis D. Swain and Julian Swain, both of Richton, Ill.; his mother, Estelle M. Swain of Alpine; six sisters, Cornelia Strickland of Talladega, Francina Scott of S. Elgin, Ill., Carol DeCourdreaux of East Point, Ga., Bertha Swain of Jonesboro, Ga. and Gwyneth Ball and Beulah S. Garrett, both of Alpine; three brothers, Benjamin Swain III and Larry Swain, both of Alpine and Chief Master Sgt. Edsel Swain of Columbia, S.C., 14 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Darius Ball, Antonio DeCourdreaux, Donnell Pickett, Donyea Swain, Erick Scott, Kedrick Swain and Rodney Swain.

Mr. Swain was an Army veteran and retired from Montgomery Ward as a television technician. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Swain II; two sisters, Eula Swain and Doris Garrett; and two brothers, Richard Swain and Joe L. Swain.

The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers donations can be made the Otis Daniel Swain Fund at the church.
