Services for Zeola G. Allen, 95, of Roanoke will be Saturday at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Five Points with the Rev. C.H. Carlisle, the Rev. William Phillips and the Rev. L.B. Houston officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Clark Memorial Funeral Service of Roanoke in charge. The family is receiving friends at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Willie Clyde Holley in Roanoke. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday. The body will be at the church an hour before the service Saturday.

Ms. Allen died Tuesday at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.

Survivors include a niece, Elizabeth Smith of Atlanta; a nephew, Willie C. Holley and his wife, Mable, of Roanoke; a great-nephew, Marvin Huffman and his wife, Betty, of Atlanta; a special friend, Beatrice Cantrell, and a number of cousins and other relatives.

Ms. Allen was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. She had lived in Atlanta, Ga., with her niece since 1993.

Services for Helen Louise Cook, 60, of Roanoke will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Parks officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Cook died Tuesday at her home.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Cook of Gainesville, Ga.; three sons, Mark Cook and his wife, Cindy, and Mickey Cook and his wife, Anna, all of Franklin, Ga., and Michael Cook and his wife, Cathy, of Roanoke; seven sisters, Anna Ruth Miller of Danville, Ill., Margaret Hardesty of Westville, Ill., Pat Vancamp and her husband, Jack, and Mary Lou Hayes and her husband, Jim, all of Oakland, Ill., Thelma Cook and her husband, Carey, of Franklin, Ga., Sharon Nipper of St. Louis, Mo., and Betty Brown and her husband, John, of Westville, Ill; three brothers, William Nipper and Jackie Nipper and his wife, Joie, all of Danville, Ill, Kent Nipper and his wife, Lynn of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a half-brother, Paul Nipper of Danville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Brandi Fisher, Dustin Cook and Haley Cook.

Pallbearers will be Carl Sellers, Jeff Cook, Greg Cook, Ralph Thompson, Neal Cook and Alan Cook.

Ms. Cook was a native of Danville, Ill. She was employed by Palm Beach Co. and was a member of Prospect Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick Andrew Nipper, and Thelma Irene Smith Nipper, and two brothers, Fred (Junior) Nipper and Robert Nipper.

Services for Linda Myrl Elders Hale, 60, of Ohatchee will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oak Bowery Baptist Church with Revs. Whitt Hibbs, Jerry Starling, Sam Legon and Earnest Hale officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hale died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Hale of Ohatchee; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and John Humphrey of Ohatchee; a son and his wife, Mark and Stephanie Hale of Wellington; an aunt, Gloria Poore of Glencoe; and six grandchildren, Brandi Abernathy, Kasey Humphrey, Cody Humphrey, Blake Hammett, Owen Hale and Birley Hale.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Hale, Dexter Thomas, Chuck Hale, Leon Thomas, Jr. Thomas, Terry Hale, James Hale and Steve Hale.

Mrs. Hale was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was a housewife and a member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. “Coot” and Kathleen Elders.

Graveside services for Henry Hengeveld, 79, of Jacksonville will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Tony Lees officiating and K.L. Brown Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hengeveld died Sunday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Hengeveld of Jacksonville; two daughters and their husbands, Martha and Bob Bastedo of Wellington and Amy and Sam Patterson of Gadsden; three sons and their wives, Timothy and Holly Hengeveld of High Point, N.C., Jonathan and Lynnette Hengeveld of Hewitt, N.J., and Daniel and Emily Hengeveld of Wellington; two sisters, Edith Snoep of Pennsylvania and Ruth Carlson of New Jersey, 17 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hengeveld was a member of Grace Community Church in Alexandria and was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Hengeveld.

Services for Addie L. Miller, 95, of Cragford will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at New Hope West Baptist Church with Revs. John D. Collins, Tim Tipton, John McDonald and Father Bruce Krause, C.M., officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight and until 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Miller died Monday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include eight grandchildren, Ruby Waldrep, Hilt Farrow, Marie Dorr, Dera Peterson, Joann Thornberry, Wanda Larcom, Randy Miller and Danny Miller; 17 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Al Griffin, Jamie McVey, Jerry McVey, John McDonald Jr., Jeremy McDonald, Andy Peterson, Colt Tipton and Jason Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Waldrep Jr., John S. Farrow and Joey Crawford.

Mrs. Miller was a Muscogee County, Ga., native, a homemaker and a member of New Hope West Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Miller, two daughters, Sarah Miller and Margie Farrow; a son, William B. Miller; and a great-grandson, Damon Dorr.

Graveside services for Andrew Jackson Murray, 89, of Manchester, Tenn., formerly of Anniston, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Madison Chapel Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Murray died Monday.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Copeland of Decatur and Becky Rolk of Manchester, Tenn.; a son, Eddie Murray of Piedmont; a stepson, Dill Prichard of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Lewis Myrland Osborne, 76, of Talladega will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Charlie Bolt, the Rev. W.H. Ford and Gary Harris officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 6-9 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home.

Mr. Osborne died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Addie Mae Osborne of Talladega; a daughter, Dorlene Harris of Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Alfred Osborne of Talladega; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Willis Knight, William Merritt, Walt Hamblin, Wren Waites, Tim McKay and Charles Goodner.

Mr. Osborne was a native of Clay County and lived most of his life in Talladega. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from Lee Brass Foundry. He was an active member of Cherry Street Church of God for 64 years and served as church clerk, senior adult leader, custodian and in various other capacities.

Services for V.L. Owens, 64, of Roanoke will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maplewood Baptist Church with Revs. Johnny Williams, Otis Hodnett and Barry Harlin officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 4-9 Wednesday night at the funeral home. Mr. Owens will be at the church one hour before services on Thursday.

Mr. Owens died Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Owens of Roanoke; his mother and stepfather, Pearly and Lonnie B. Norred of Roanoke; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gaines and Louise Spears of Roanoke; four daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and David Cummings of Roanoke, Kathy and Bobby Clark of Five Points, Donna and Joe Franklin of LaGrange, and Rhonda and Randal Harlin of Roanoke; a son and a daughter-in-law, Barry and Donna Owens of Roanoke; two sisters, Nell Alsabrook of Roanoke and Kate Janney of LaGrange; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Sherry and James Spurling of Roanoke, and Judy and Wayne Hansen of North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Junior Spears of Dalton, Ga., and R.M. Manley of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Keshia Cummings, Kevin and Marie Cummings, April Cummings, John Najmeh, Chris Mobley, Mathew Harlin, Ryan Hart, Kristin Franklin, Andrew Owens and Clayton Owens; three great-grandchildren, Blake Cummings, Austin Cummings and Kaydee Cummings; and a faithful dog, George.

Pallbearers will be Chris Mobley, Jeremy Cummings, Kevin Cummings, Mathew Harlin, Ryan Hart and John Najmeh.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Owens was employed at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers, and was a member of Center Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Y.B. Owens; and a sister, Rudine Manley.

Services for James T. Pearson, 83, of Anniston will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in Anniston with Rev. Mike Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Pearson died Sunday at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

Survivors include a sister, Lenora Talley of Anniston; and a brother, Ralph Pearson of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Doug Finley, Roger Finley, Mike Talley, Jeremy Nunnally, Robby Yarbrough, Lynn Pearson and Kenneth Ray Pearson.

Mr. Pearson was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was retired from Dresser Manufacturing and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Pearson.
