Morrison

PIEDMONT

Services for John H. Morrison, 86, of Piedmont will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont with Revs. Jerry Pike and Woody Lee officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Coggins Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home.

Mr. Morrison died Wednesday at Providence Health Care Center in Thomaston, Ga.

Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ann Blouin of Atlanta and Peggy J. Whittington of Birmingham; a sister, Myrtle Rhinehart of Piedmont, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Morrison was born in Cherokee County and was a World War II Army Infantry veteran, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign. He worked as a master mechanic for SCT Yarn for 37 years. He was a charter member and a deacon of Northside Baptist Church and was a member of the Masons and Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge 97. He was preceded in death by his wife, R. Lee Molock Morrison.

Parker

MESQUITE, Texas

Services for Barbara S. Parker, 73, of Mesquite will be today at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. (EST) at Atwater Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomaston, Ga.

Mrs. Parker died Monday in Mesquite.

Survivors include her husband, George William Parker of Mesquite; three daughters, Patricia Ann Watts of Madison, Ga., Patsy Carol Meeks of Thomaston and Linda Darlene Squires of Granbury, Texas; a sister, Martha Dean Bell of Thomaston; eight grandchildren, Darrell Watts, Sharon Watts, Robert Watts, Jim Meeks, Jinger Meeks Roberts, James M. Squires, Stacey Squires and Amber Gilmore, eight great-grandchildren, and two nieces.

Pallbearers will be James W. Squires, James M. Squires, Jim Meeks, James Meeks, Carlos Bell, Scott Roberts and Robert Watts.

Mrs. Parker was born in Thomaston, Ga., and lived in Texas since 1954. She was a retired waitress and had attended Pathway of Life Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Henry Sanders and Addie Linnie Dawson Sanders.

Stockinger

Graveside services for Mary Jane Stockinger, 59, of Anniston will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Rodney Ragsdale officiating and Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stockinger died Tuesday at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Stockinger of Anniston; a son, Chris Stockinger of Florida; a brother, Harris Clark of Anniston; and a grandchild, Austin Stockinger.

Pallbearers will be W.H. “Butch” Taylor, Cecil Stedham Jr., Charles Stedham, Richard Stedham, Glenn Stedham, Garry Stedham and L.H. “Butch” Medders.

Mrs. Stockinger was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mamie Clark; and a brother, Larry Clark.

Voiles

CENTRE

Services for Mary W. Voiles, 91, of Centre will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Voiles died Wednesday at Cherokee County Nursing Home.

Survivors include two stepsons, Bruce Voiles and Randy Voiles, both of Piedmont; a stepdaughter, Francis Vaughn of Piedmont; a brother, John W. Williams of Centre; five sisters, Mildred DeBerry, Ruth Lecroy, Lois McCord and Beatrice Law, all of Piedmont and Louise Cromer of Centre, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Voiles was born in Floyd County, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Onie W. and Opha House Williams. She was a housewife and was a member of Mt. Springs Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Voiles.

Bennett

HEFLIN

Services for Lissie Roberts Bennett, 100, of Heflin will be today at 11 a.m. at Heflin Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip R. Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens.

Mrs. Bennett died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter Bobbie Bennett McMahan of Heflin; two daughters-in-law, Helen Chastain Bennett and Ann Teague Bennett; seven grandchildren, Michael Bennett, Tony Ross Bennett, Charles D. Bennett Jr., Terry McMahan, Mark Bennett McMahan, Matthew Blake McMahan and Jamie McMahan Snyder; and eight great-grandchildren, Jonathan Michael Bennett, Nathan Hensley Bennett, James Terry McMahan, Christal McMahan Harrington, Melissa Laine McMahan, Anna Elizabeth McMahan, Andrew Tyler McMahan and Wesley Morrison McMahan.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bennett, Tony Bennett, Charles D. Bennett Jr., Terry McMahan, Mark McMahan, Matthew McMahan, Matt Miles and Lewis Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Wilson, Max Payne, Dr. Don Carroll, Cranston Beam, Mallory Whiten, Bob Rigsby and Bobby Bailey.

Mrs. Bennett was a native of Cleburne County and a resident of Heflin most of her life. She was a member of Heflin Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Bennett and three sons Kilby M. Bennett, Billy Ross Bennett and Charles D. Bennett.

Davis

OXFORD

Services for William John Davis, 77, of Oxford will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Blue Eye Cemetery in Lincoln. The family will receive friends Tuesday 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis died Saturday at Beverly Healthcare in Oxford.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert Lamar Davis Jr. of Foley and Ronnie Gene Davis of Loxley; and two sisters, Betty Jo Patton of Birmingham and Mary Ann Russell of Lincoln.

Pallbearers will be David Patton Billy Russell, Tony Adams, Randy Sain, Jason Sain and Jason Richmond.

Mr. Davis has lived in Oxford for the past nine years, having also lived in Anniston and New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lamar and Mary Elizabeth Atkins Davis.

Griffith

HARTWELL, Ga.

Services for Elna Lawler Griffith, 89, of Hartwell, Ga., formerly of Anniston, will be announced by Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Ms. Griffith died Sunday at Hart County Hospital.

Hubbard

Graveside services for W.S. "Buster" Hubbard Jr., 87, of Anniston will be today at 10 a.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Revs. Tom Bell and Woodfin Grove officiating. A memorial service will follow at the Acker Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Anniston.

Mr. Hubbard died Friday in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Anniston, 1400 Noble St., Anniston, AL 36201 or to a favorite charity.

Jones

PALMETTO, Ga.

Services for Charles Melbourne Jones, 86, of Palmetto, Ga., were Sunday at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Rev. Jerry Starling officiating. Burial followed at Forestlawn Gardens.

Mr. Jones died on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn C. Jones, of Palmetto; a daughter Penny Coleman and her husband, Jim, of Oxford; a son Charles Jones of Palmetto, and a sister Evelynne Harper of Douglasville, Ga.

Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Georgia. He was self employed and a contractor with Texaco, Inc. He was also a member of Enon Baptist Church in College Park, Ga.

Naugher

PIEDMONT

Services for Margaret Naugher, 86, of Piedmont will be today at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Leeann Scarbrough and Pastor Gene Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery. The body will be at the church for one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Naugher died Saturday at her home.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law; Laura Oswalt of Columbus, Ga., Janice and Aaron Ingram of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Lynda and Phil Ray of Rome, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Jon Oswalt, Rob Oswalt, Tom Oswalt, Anne Ingram Baugh, Laurie Ingram Stephens, David Ingram, Michael Ray, Laura Ray, Shanie Loftin LaCoke and Susan Loftin; eight great-grandchildren; and caregivers Ann Burgess, Dot Pruitt, Pat Morrison and Carol Close.

Pallbearers will be Michael Ray, David Ingram, John Stephens, Terry Baugh, Jon Oswalt, Tom Oswalt and Rob Oswalt.

Mrs. Naugher was a native of Rome but lived in the Piedmont area most of her life. She was a homemaker, a member of the neighborhood club and the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and was past president of the Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Naugher and two daughters, Margaret Anne Naugher and Theresa Naugher Loftin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 107 E. Ladiga St., Piedmont, AL 36272.
