Pinkston

LINEVILLE

Services for Inas K. Pinkston, 91, of Lineville will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home Chapel in Lineville with Revs. Steve Dye, Clarence Hollingshed and Claude Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Millerville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Lineville.

Mrs. Pinkston died Sunday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include her son James C. Pinkston, Jr. and a stepson Kermit Pinkston, both of Lineville; a sister Buna Alford of Alexander City; and three grandchildren, Robert Lee Pinkston, Pamela Sue Miles and Walter Craig Pinkston.

Pallbearers will be family friends.

Mrs. Pinkston was a lifelong resident of Clay County, a homemaker and a member of Millerville Baptist Church.

Snider

Graveside services for Christine Mickles Snider, 98, of Anniston will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with Don Phillips officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge.

Mrs. Snider died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include 13 nieces and nephews; Mary Mickles Pettus, Gladys Leyden Murphree, Cecil Leyden, Bettie Snider Houston, Martha Snider Rice, Bill Snider, Paul Snider, Phillip Snider, Jimmy Snider, Pat Snider Crutchfield, Crystal Snider Pennington, Charles Mickles and Richard Mickles; and caregiver Clara Weatherly.

Mrs. Snider worked at the Diamond Jewelry Store on West 10th Street. She was a charter member of Wilmer Avenue Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Snider; two brothers Wyatte Mickles and Alfred Mickles; and a sister Gladys Mickles Leyden.

Stedham

Services for Cecil W. Stedham Sr., 85, of Anniston, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Gray Brown Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Wayne Fain officiating. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Stedham died Saturday at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City.

Survivors include six sons, Cecil W. Stedham Jr. and Glen E. Stedham, both of Weaver, Wayne D. Stedham and Richard E. Stedham, both of Saks, Charles W. Stedham of Alexandria, and Garry A. Stedham of Eastaboga; two adopted sons Wayne J. Stockinger and L.E. "Butch" Medders; a daughter Kay S. Taylor of Malabar, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Wayne D. Stedham Jr., Alice S. Bird, Tommy R. Stedham, Sherri S. Hopkins, Stacey S. Adams, Summer S. Murray, Rikki E. Stedham, Heather L. Stedham, Chris D. Taylor, Leslie T. Hill, Brandon S. Stedham, Kelly D. Stedham, Jennifer Stedham; and six great grandchildren, Logan Hopkins, Morgan Hopkins, Forrest Richter, Katilyn Taylor, Griffin Adams and Tyler Murray.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Stedham, Wayne Stedham Jr., Brandon Stedham, Rikki Stedham, Chris Taylor and Rodney Hopkins.

Mr. Stedham was a native of Jefferson County and an Anniston resident for most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 29 years of service and was also a self-employed tax preparation officer for almost 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah N. Stedham, his parents U.G. and Artie Mea Stedham, a grandson Patrick Taylor, a brother Herman Stedham and a sister Marlis Hamblin.

Services for Margaret Lengel Stolz, 98, of Anniston will be announced by Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel.

Bradshaw

LaFAYETTE

Services for Jessie Lewis Bradshaw, 57, of LaFayette will be Wednesday at noon at Vines Funeral Home in LaFayette with Rev. Jessie Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Skyview Cemetery in Welch.

Mr. Bradshaw died Saturday at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Bradshaw of LaFayette and Sophia Chappell of Roanoke; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lue Ella Patterson of Roanoke, Carrie and James Daniel of Wadley and Annie M. Woods and Beatrice and Luther Esters, all of Atlanta; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Johnnie and Annie Williams and Charlie Bradshaw, all of Jacksonville, Fla. and John and Gladys Bradshaw of Atlanta; two sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Bradshaw and Virginia Bradshaw, both of Roanoke; a special friend, Maudie Sue Green, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bradshaw was a native of Chambers County and was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Annie Bell Bradshaw.

Cokely

TALLADEGA

Services for William Harrison Cokely, 78, of Talladega will be today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Revs. Horace Patterson Sr., Milton Hurst and Ronnie Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park with Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Cokely died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Eula C. Cokely of Talladega; a sister, Alma Wells Cooper of Talladega; a brother, Lawrence Cokely of Chicago; three nephews, Cedric Cokely, Keith Cokely and Steve Cokely; two nieces, Dr. Ruby Lipscomb and Ernestine Renee Cooper; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, Eddie Cooper of Lorton, Va.

Pallbearers will be deacons, D.B. Armstrong, Clarence McKenzie, Robert Morris, Edward Hall, Johnny Harris, James Storey, Wiley Lucas, Eddie Tucker, Lawrence McGraw and Roy Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Epsilon Delta Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and College City Elks Lodge 1171.

Mr. Cokely was a World War II Army veteran. He attended Sessions Practice School, Drewry High School, Talladega College, Putney Graduate School, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Tennessee A&I University, Hampton Institute and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He worked at Talladega College and for the Talladega County school system. He was a member of various civic and professional organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, College City Elks Lodge 1171, Talladega County Retired Teachers Association and the Association for Counseling and Development. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence L. Cokely and Mattie Wilkinson Cokely; a brother, Dr. Clarence L. Cokely Jr.; and two aunts, Grace Alexander and Hattie Shaw.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the William H. Cokely and the Eula C. Cokely Endowed Scholarship Fund at Talladega College.

Services for William Earl Garrett, 39, of Childersburg will be announced by Sims Funeral Service in Talladega.

Gilley

PIEDMONT

Graveside services for Odias Amelia Gilley, 99, of Piedmont will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Rice officiating and Thompson Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gilley died Monday at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dot and Emmett Byers of Piedmont; a grandchild, Danny Gilley; and a great-grandchild, Dana Gilley.

Pallbearers will be Brian Morrison, Doug Goss, Ben Dill, Don Ferguson, J.E. Jordan and James Bennett.

Mrs. Gilley was a native of Cherokee County and had lived in Piedmont most of her life. She was a member of Piedmont Congregational Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tobe C. Gilley, and a son, Hollis Gilley.

Heath

TALLADEGA

Graveside services for Lois S. Heath, 84, of Talladega will be today at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Daugherty officiating and Usrey Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Heath died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Heath was a native of Clay County and had lived in Talladega County since 1928. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was retired from Bemis Co. Inc. She was Ms. Talladega Health in 1999.

McBrayer

CEDAR BLUFF

Services for Betty Jean McBrayer, 74, of Cedar Buff will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the House of Prayer in Hokes Bluff with Revs. Mitchell Hill, David Ingram and Larry West officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens with Jordan Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. McBrayer died Monday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Arlis and John Lynch of Monck’s Corner, S.C.; two sisters, Nellie Chadwick and Dovie Doyal, both of Centre; two grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy and David Cleveland and Brian and Patti Singletary; two step-grandchildren, Paula Collins and her husband, Gary, and John Lynch Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Shay Singletary and D.J. Segars; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-great-grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Van Lancaster, Donnie Lancaster, William Lowman, Harold Davis, Chris Ingram and Steven Ingram.

Mrs. McBrayer was a native of Cherokee County and was the daughter of the late Lester J. and Elizabeth Coursey Hooper. She was a retired sewing machine operator and was a member of the House of Prayer in Hokes Bluff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer N. McBrayer and three sisters.
