Graveside services for Mildred DeLoach Farrell, 81, of Anniston will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Edgemont Cemetery with Rev. Bill Heintz officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 tonight at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Mrs. Farrell died Saturday at regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, James Michael Farrell of Birmingham; a daughter, Barbara Farrell Haynes of Anniston; a sister, Inez D. Teel of Wilmington, Mass.; six grandchildren, Allan Haynes, Alana H. Needham, Danny Hammonds, DeWayne Hammonds, Tracy Sargent and Shannon White; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Farrell was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She was retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service. Mrs. Farrell was preceded in death by her daughter, Frankie F. Hammonds, a son, Barry Steven Farrell and her husband, Frank F. Farrell. Memorials may be made to City of Hope, P.O. Box 824, Bessemer, AL 35021.

Graveside services for David Glendon Lacy, 63, of Wadley will be today at 2 p.m. at Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Revs. Tim Whaley and Clyde Coker officiating. Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lacy died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gay Lacy of Wadley; four daughters, Teresa Gibson, Dianne Knight, Maria Lacy and Beverly Brown, all of Wadley; his mother, Clovene Lacy of Wadley; three brothers, James Lacy of Pendleton, Ore., and William Hoyt Lacy Jr. and Larry Lacy, both of Wadley; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edward Gibson, Matthew Knight, Craig Brown, John Welch, Adam Bailey, Tim Bennett, Matt Knight and Luke Knight.

A Clay County native, Mr. Lacy was the son of William Hoyt and Dorothy Clovene Bennett Lacy. He was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church and owner and operator of the NAPA Auto Parts store in Wadley.

Services for retired Pfc. Frank L. Mathies, 76, of Ohatchee will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Jones officiating. Burial will be at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Mathies died Saturday at his home

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Mathies of Ohatchee; a daughter, Barbara Muniz and her husband, Ralph, of Pueblo, Colo.; two sons, Maj. John Mathies and his wife, Patricia, of Ohatchee and Mark Mathies and his wife, Eileen, of Centreville, Va.; a sister Maridee Bushong of Kansas City, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Sarah Schweitzer, Nathan Muniz, Christopher Mathies, Brian Howell, Brandon Howell, Jennifer Mathies, Collin Mathies, and Mark Alex Mathies.

Pallbearers will be sons and friends.

Mr. Mathies was a native of Kansas City, Kansas but had lived in Ohatchee for the past year. A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Mathies retired from Simmons Mattress Co. after 38 years. He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Kansas City.

Services for Bobby G. Motes, 56, of Piedmont will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Orville Smith officiating. Burial will be at Whiteplaines Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Motes died Sunday at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Motes of Piedmont; a brother, Orville Motes and his wife, Jean, of Anniston; and two sisters, Linda Baswell and her husband, Herburt, of Spring Garden and Nellie Hanson of Piedmont.

Mr. Motes was a lifelong resident of Piedmont. A Baptist, he was retired from the Gas, Water and Sewer Board of Alabama.

Graveside services for Bernice Bishop Tidwell, 87, of Wadley will be today at 11 a.m. at Union “Motley” Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. A.O. “Doc” Burdette officiating. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Mrs. Tidwell died Saturday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Velma Ragon of Wadley; a son, Byron Tidwell of Wadley, a sister, Velma Coe of Lanett; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Kirk, Gregory Kirk, Donald Kirk, Mike Tidwell, Jason Watkins, Jimmy Bishop and Wille Kirby.

A native of Chambers County, Mrs. Tidwell lived most of her life in Clay County. She was employed with Clegg-Penrose as an inspector and was a member of Union “Motley” Baptist Church.

Services for Virgil Lee Brooks, 72, of Anniston will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Revs. James Cohorn and Bob Ford officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Brooks died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Norred Brooks of Anniston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy Brooks Murray of Anniston and Polly Brooks and Don Hardegree of Montgomery; two brothers, Clyde Brooks and P.K. Brooks, both of Anniston; three grandchildren, Jason Hardegree, Corey McWhorter and Shawn McWhorter; five great-grandchildren, Logan McWhorter, Emilee Brooke McWhorter, Reese McWhorter, Connor Owens and Parker Hardegree; two nieces, Penny Bolen and Anita Westfall; and five nephews, Wayne Brooks, Terry Norred, Luther Brooks, Bobbie Brooks and Greg Wheeler.

Pallbearers will be David McWhorter, Wayne Brooks, Terry Norred, Jerry Self, Randy Westfall and Greg Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class of Blue Mountain Baptist Church.

Mr. Brooks was a native of Clay County and had lived in Anniston many years. He was a member and a deacon at Blue Mountain Baptist Church. He was a member of the Northeast Alabama Woodworkers Association and was retired from Anniston Army Depot. He was preceded in death by his father, Pascal K. Brooks Sr., and his mother, Eunice Clarke Tillison.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the Hospice of East Alabama, P.O. Box 2581, Anniston, AL 36202; or Blue Mountain Baptist Church, 15 Blue Mountain Ave., Anniston, AL 36201.

Graveside services for Henry E. Cox, 85, of Anniston were Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Heflin City Cemetery with Rev. George McKenzie officiating and Miller Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Cox died Monday at his home.

Survivors include three stepdaughters, Barbara McKee and Elaine Skinner, both of Oxford and L.F. Gilchrist and her husband, Pete, of Georgia; two sisters, Agnes Batley of Dry Valley and Nell Wade of Alexandria; a stepgrandchild, Greg Skinner; caregivers, Joe and Jean Broussard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cox had lived in Anniston most of his life and had been employed by Denton Truck Lines.

Services for Charles Alton “Pete” Hallman, 64, of Riverside will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with Revs. Glis Cribb and Darrell Gooden officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Hallman died Tuesday in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Hallman of Riverside; two sons and their wives, Danny Ray and Pamela Hallman of Pell City and Terry Dale and Cindy Hallman of Heflin; two sisters, Faye Lowery of Tuscaloosa and Lois Bowman of Pell City; two brothers, Willie Gene Hallman of Pell City and Jimmy W. Hallman of Tuscaloosa; six grandchildren, Danny Shelton II, John Shelton, Jessica Long, Erica Daniel, Amanda Rossetti and Cami Hallman; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Kemp, Barry Long, Jason Rossetti, Dennis Daniel, Ricky Kemp, Billy Kemp, Darren Hallman and Andrew Kemp.

Mr. Hallman was retired and self-employed. He was a Baptist.
