Graveside services for infant Emma Kay Bryant of Piedmont will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Ward officiating and Thompson Funeral Home in charge.

The infant died Saturday at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga.

Survivors include her parents, John and Sherry Bryant of Piedmont; two brothers, Wesley Bryant and Matthew Bryant, both of Piedmont; and her grandparents, Frances Bryant of Piedmont, Bill Bryant of Jackson, Miss., and Joyce and Marshall Ballew of Cedartown, Ga.

The infant was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Burine and Lois Blanks and Goldin and Ruth Ingram.

Services for Daisy J. Smith Edmondson, 65, of Anniston will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with Rev. Gerald Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Liberty East Baptist Church Cemetery in Roanoke. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edmondson died Tuesday at Beckwood Manor.

Memorial services for John Edward Fisher, 57, of Anniston will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the church parlor.

Mr. Fisher died Tuesday in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, Presbyterian Youth Connection, 1701 Henry Road, Anniston, AL 36207.

Services for Rita Waldrop Jones, 72, of Lineville will be today at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Tim Tipton officiating. Memorial services will be later. The family will receive friends until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Tuesday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert L. “Too Tall” Jones of Lineville; a daughter, Donna Hannah of Renfroe; two sons, Don Jones of Ashland and Danny Jones of Pearl River, La.; a sister, Brenda West of Slidell, La.; two brothers, Wendell H. Waldrop of Ashland and Tim Waldrop of Cragford; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. She had been employed by Wellborn Cabinet Company and was a Baptist.

Memorial services for David Russel “Buddy” McGinnis, 81, of Talladega will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. William Pruitt officiating.

Mr. McGinnis died March 21 at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include four daughters, Robin Irene McGinnis of Atlanta, Kathleen Hannah Gonsalves of Miami, Fla., Roberta “Bunny” Rentz of Covington, Ga. and Carole Ann White of Eutaw; his stepmother, Hannah McGinnis of Gainesville, Fla.; three sisters, Juanita Triplett of Saks, Joanne Pruitt of Gainesville and Vicky Horton of Fayetteville, Ga.; a brother, James McGinnis of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. McGinnis was born and raised in Weaver and was a 1938 graduate of Alexandria High School. He was a 10-year Navy veteran with service in World War II and retired as a chief petty officer. He had been a sergeant on the Dade County police force for 10 years, a self-employed building contractor and had retired as assistant chief of operations for the Dade County Port Authority. He married Anne Barnes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes. Association.

Mr. Pierce died Wednesday at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

Services for Lillie Mae Smedley Russ, 86, of Roanoke, formerly of Five Points, will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Roanoke Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Berner Jones and Leonard Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Gardens in Welch with Clark Memorial Funeral Service in charge. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Russ died Monday at Randolph Medical Center.

Survivors include a sister, Grace Marable of Roanoke; and a brother, Oliver George Smedley of Dayton, Ohio.

Ms. Russ was born in Five Points to the late Lessie and Mollie Todd Smedley. She was a former resident of Ohio for several years and had been a homemaker. She attended Roanoke Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a resident of Roanoke Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Russ.

Graveside services for Douglas D. Snow, 74, of Talladega will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Green’s Chapel Cemetery in Heflin with Rev. John Shaddix officiating and Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 5:30-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Snow died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Snow of Eastaboga; four daughters and their husbands, Pat and Donald Haywood and Traci and Jeff Arnold, all of Eastaboga, Melissa and Tim Glidewell of Oxford and Cassie and Huel M. Love Jr. of Talladega; a sister and her husband, Mary and Ralph McClure of Oxford; a brother and his wife, Ray and Mary Ruth Snow of Clarksville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Crow, Cody Crow, Mike Crow, Patrick Ward, Tim Glidewell and Jeff Arnold. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Hubbert, Minor Wynn and Hugh Leemaster.

Mr. Snow was a member of the Oxford Quarterback Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Maude Snow; and two brothers, Calvin Snow and Marcelle Snow.

Services for Horace Lee Steed, 71, of Rome will be Friday at 2 p.m. at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Mt. Alto Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Steed died Wednesday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Evans Steed; a daughter, Debra Hughes of Trion, Ga.; a son, Duane Steed of Biloxi, Miss.; four sisters, Odessa Riordan of Rome, Edna Patty and Faye Whorton, both of Centre and Betty Word of Piedmont; a brother, Hubert Steed of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Christie Voils, Kelley Roberts, Suzanne Steed and James Steed; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Crumbley, Nicole Roberts and Austin Voils; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gene Freeman, Earl Drummond, Charles Burkhalter, Kenneth Parker, Sam Steed, Troy Steed and Ray Freeman. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. W.P. Adams.

Mr. Steed was a native of Cleburne County and was retired from the Arco Corporation in Atlanta. He was a former employee of Rome Glass Co. and Spears Glass Co. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and song leader. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Brewer Steed and Nancy Jane Grimes Steed; a son, James Hoyt Steed; and three brothers, J.W. Steed, Cleo Steed and Clyde Steed.

Services for Oliver Bailey, 14, of Wedowee will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Wadley with Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Clark Memorial Funeral Service in charge. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home in Roanoke.

The youth died Wednesday at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his parents, Willie Frank and Recie Kimble Bailey of Wedowee; a brother and his wife, Tracy and Valeria Bailey of Roanoke; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Regena and Jose Gutierrez of Five Points and Marie Bailey and Leisa Bailey, both of Wedowee; his grandfather, Ralph Kimble of Wedowee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The youth was born in Roanoke and was the grandson of the late Olden and Ocie Mae Bailey and the late Vicie Knight Kimble. He was a high school student in Randolph County schools and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.
