Carr

FAIRHOPE

Memorial services for Robert Bryan Carr Jr., of Fairhope, formerly of Anniston, will be today at 3 p.m. at Fairhope United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date in Edgemont Cemetery in Anniston. Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Carr died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Powers Carr of Fairhope; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy Carr Walburn of Birmingham and Mary Carr Finger and Van Finger of Point Clear; two sons and their wives, Robert B. Carr III and Ann Carr of Birmingham and Jackson P. Carr and Phyllis Carr of Riverside, Conn.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Carr of Anniston; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Carr had lived in Anniston 60 years and Fairhope for 13 years. He was retired from Northern Indiana Brass in Elkhart, Ind. The son of the late Judge and Mrs. R.B. Carr Sr., he was a graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He served in World War II with the 565th Anti-Aircraft Battalion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the organ fund at Fairhope United Methodist Church.

Hare

TALLADEGA

Services for Marilyn Fallman Hare, 79, of Talladega will be today at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Usrey Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Hare died Tuesday at Autumn Trace.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Joseph E. Hare of Talladega; two sons and their wives, Joseph William and Becky Hare and James Arden and Nancy Hare, all of Talladega; a brother, Fred William Fallman Jr. of Clermont, Fla.; two grandchildren, Lindsey Hare and Will Hare; and six nephews.

Mrs. Hare was born in Sylacauga and a graduate of Sylacauga High School. She attended college in Montevallo and trained in nursing at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. She was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church and the Talladega Study Club, a docent at Heritage Hall and a Red Cross volunteer at Talladega Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by a sister, Freda McAneny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the elevator fund of First United Methodist Church.

Ingram

PIEDMONT

Services for Janie Bone Ingram, 91, of Piedmont will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ingram died Tuesday at Cherokee County Nursing Home.

Shaddix

Services for Albert C. “Alb” Shaddix, 89, of Anniston will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Mausoleum Chapel with Jimmy Harrington officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Mausoleum with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time at the mausoleum.

Mr. Shaddix died Tuesday in Jackson County.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Shaddix of Anniston; a daughter and her husband, Shirley A. and Jerry Roberts of Destin, Fla.; a son and his wife, Michael and Shirley Shaddix of Scottsboro; four grandchildren, Greg Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Heath Shaddix and Jennifer Rains; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Heath Shaddix, Eric Rains, Bentley Roberts and Sonny Morrison.

Mr. Shaddix was a native of Clay County and had lived in Calhoun County most of his life. He worked for M&H Valve Company for 41 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 443 for more than 50 years and was a member of Central Church of Christ.

Smith

BIRMINGHAM

Services for Jimmy Noel Smith, 46, of Birmingham will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery in Talladega. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include a brother, John Noel Smith Jr. of Birmingham; two nieces, Robin Taylor and Sandra Smith; a nephew, John Daniel Taylor; three cousins, Betty Veach, James Larry Hawthorne and Dorothy Délapena; and numerous other relatives.

Pallbearers will be James Taylor, Johnathan Spencer, Lester Veach, Mike McDonald, Dewayne Gunter and Bob Ford.

Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Birmingham. He was a former employee of Stockham Valve Co. in Birming-ham.

Tanner

ROANOKE

Services for Sayre Dunson Tanner, 86, of Roanoke, formerly of Atlanta, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home with Dr. Douglas Turner officiating. Burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tanner died Wednesday at her home.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Dunson, Charles Dunson, Jim Dunson Jr., David Henshaw and Keith Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ford Cavendar, Chris Ozley, Tanner Bowring, James Tanner, Jeff Anderson and Trey Mann.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of the late Walker and Sarah Hester Dunson. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had worked as a registered nurse at Crawford-Long Hospital in Atlanta for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Arnold Tanner; four sisters and five brothers.

Flowers are not being accepted. The family suggests donations be made to First Baptist Church, 827 Main St., Roanoke, AL 36274; or the hospice of your choice.

Mitchum

ROANOKE

Graveside services for infant Keith David Mitchum II of Roanoke will be today at 1 p.m. at Randolph Memory Gardens, with Rev. Chris Webb officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge.

The infant died Wednesday at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith D. Mitchum of Roanoke; two sisters, Ashleigh Mitchum and Anna Mitchum, both of Roanoke; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Mitchum and Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Perry, all of Roanoke; his great-grandmother, Limmer Perry of Roanoke; and his aunts and uncles, Kevin Mitchum and Tammy and John Jones, all of Roanoke and Kim and Gerald Railey of Wadley.

Services for Barbara Morgan, 69, of Anniston will be announced by Miller Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morgan died Friday at Jackson County Hospital in Scottsboro.

Ozier

BOWDON, Ga.

Services for Clyde Copeland Ozier, 84, of Bowdon will be today at 11 a.m. at Bowdon Baptist Church with Drs. Ron Higgins and Norman Padgett officiating. Burial will be in Bowdon City Cemetery with Rainwater and West Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Ozier died Thursday at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Williams Ozier of Bowdon; four children and their spouses, Billy and Carol Ozier of Bowdon, Judy and Jimmy Lipham of Lake Toxaway, N.C., Cindy and Allen Petway of Dalton, Ga. and Suzy and Tim Coe of Wedowee; three stepchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Allen Lawler and Susan and Bryan Garrett, all of Bowdon and Jeff and Renee Matthews of Carrollton; a brother, Bob Ozier of Bowdon; a sister, Edwina Weber of York, Pa.; nine grandchildren, and seven stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bowdon Baptist Church.

Mr. Ozier was born in Fort Gaines, Ga., and was the son of the late Robert Edgar and Daisy Mae Copeland Ozier. He was raised in Montezuma, Ga., attended Mercer University, and graduated from Georgia Southern College. He taught and coached in Sylvester, Ga. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a pioneer in the poultry industry. In the late 1940s, he founded Ozier Hatchery, Feed Mill and Pot’o Gold poultry processing plant, and served on the board of directors of the Georgia Poultry Federation.

He was a premier breeder of Polled Hereford cattle in the 1950s and 1960s and served as director of the Commercial Bank and Carrollton Federal Savings and Loan. He was a longtime member and chairman of the Bowdon school board and was a People to People Ambassador to Russia in the 1960s. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Bowdon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Ann Roop Ozier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bowdon Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 250, Bowdon, GA 30108.

Smith

HEFLIN

Services for Freddie Harris Smith, 80, of Heflin will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Heflin with Revs. John Gates and Lamar Davis officiating. Burial will be in Heflin City Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Wayne H. Smith and Janice Smith of Heflin; a sister, Pauline Edwards of Heflin; a brother, Bobby Harris of Birmingham; two grandchildren and their spouses, Meredith and Brian Howle and Sarah and Steve Phillips; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Howle, Tanner Howle, Hunter Howle and Hayden Howle.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mrs. Smith was born in the Lecta Community of Cleburne County and had lived in Heflin most of her life. She was a retired lunchroom manager for Cleburne County High School and a member of First United Methodist Church of Heflin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Smith.
