Memorial services for Carrol Fay Cato, 73, of Calera were Monday at Charter Funeral Home.

Mr. Cato died Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, M. Jane Templeton Cato; a son and his wife, Christopher and Tracy Cato of Helena; a sister, Maggie Cato Holladay of Maumelle, Ark.; a half sister, Irene Massaway of Little Rock; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cato was born and raised in Roland, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Della Cato; his twin brother, Col. Harrol Ray Cato; and six other siblings. A graduate of Henderson State University, he was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was also an Army veteran, with service in Japan and Korea. He had been education director at Fort McClellan. He was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner, and a Presbyterian.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alabama Diabetes. Foundation or the Alabama Kidney Foundation.

Services for Oscar Chatman, 82, of Alpine will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary in Talladega.

Mr. Chatman died Sunday at St. Clair Regional Hospital in Pell City.

Services for Beulah Mae Foster, 47, of Roanoke will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Riley Street in Roanoke. Burial will be in East Roanoke Cemetery with Silmon and Son Funeral Services in charge. The family will receive friends noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Foster died Sunday at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke.

Survivors include her husband, Amos L. Foster Jr. of Roanoke; three daughters, Yolanda Foster, Detra Burton and Lameka Foster, all of Roanoke; two sons, Ronnie Goss and Arthur Goss, both of Roanoke; two sisters, Dicie Sims and Catherine White, both of Roanoke; three brothers, Walter Nolan and Angelo Nolan, both of Roanoke and James Nolan of Wilmington, Del.; 12 grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Nolan; and two sisters and two brothers.

Services for Mary Lucille Golden, 85, of Alexandria will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Dickins officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Golden died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, Harvel Golden of Arizona, Thomas and Reeta Golden, Travis Golden and Terry Golden, all of Alexandria and Larry Joe and Sally Golden of Webster’s Chapel; two daughters and their husbands, Joyce E. and Johnny Hodge of Webster’s Chapel and Betty L. and Roger Pruitt of Glencoe; three sisters and their husbands, Betty and J.P. Holder of Alexandria, Della and Frank Roper of Southside and Lillian and Ted Robinson of Lynn Haven, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Golden, Scott Golden, Chad Golden, Jason Pruitt, Dee Ingram and Mark Holder.

Mrs. Golden was a member of Four Mile Methodist Church in Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Golden; a son, Jerry Golden; and a grandchild, Brian Hodge.

Services for Flora Estelle Latta Hammett, 85, of Gaylesville will be today at 1 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Rev. Jeff Hammett officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Hammett died Sunday at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Faye and George Wood of Gaylesville and Colleen and Franklin Early of Cedar Bluff; a son and his wife, Milus Odell and Barbara Hammett of Gaylesville; a sister, Linnie Mae Blanton of Rome; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kirby and Carolyn Rowland, Jimmy and Jerri Early, Tim and Amy Early, Dale and Vickie Hammett, Jeff and Denae Hammett, Cindy and Billy Don DeBerry and Kevin Wood; 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dale Hammett, Billy Don DeBerry, Jimmy Early, Tim Early, Kirby Rowland and Kevin Wood.

Mrs. Hammett was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milus Hammett; five brothers, Sanford Latta, Ed Latta, Frank Latta, Wesley Latta and Herman Latta; and her parents, William Alonzo and Cynthia Holtsclaw Latta.

The family requests no food.

Services for Rev. S. Paul Owens Sr., 86, of Gadsden will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at 12th Street Baptist Church with Drs. Richard Trader, Troy L. Morrison and Charles Owens and Rev. Bobby Eads officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Rev. Owens died Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva C. Owens; three children and their spouses, Robert E. Owens, Nancy and Ray Fields and Charles and Pat Owens; a brother-in-law and his wife, J.C. and Virginia Collins Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Macey Nell Owens, Hazel Owens and Mabel Owens; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Susie and Bobby Eads, S. Paul and Karen Owens III, Mary Elizabeth and John Morris, Tobye and David Dearth, Paula and Joel Knight, Robert E. Owens II, Stephen and Jennifer Fields, Paul Fields, Amanda Owens, Jessica Owens, Charles Owens II and Harrel Owens; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Rev. Owens was a native of Etowah County and a 1935 graduate of Jacksonville State University. He taught school briefly, was an ordained minister of several local churches, and was retired from Republic Steel Corporation. He was the owner of Owens Department Store and was active in several community and civic organizations and projects. He was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, James Andrew Owens and S. Paul Owens Jr.; and a grandchild, Cindy Owens Slate.

Services for J.D. Reese, 75, of Athens, formerly of Anniston, were Sunday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens. Dr. Bob Kerr officiated. Graveside services were Monday at McMinn Memory Gardens.

Mr. Reese died Friday at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Reese; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Doug Reese of Athens and Thomas and Gielda Reese of Decatur, Tenn.; a daughter and husband, Kathy and Doyle Chambers of Athens; a sister and her husband, Eva Jane and Vinyard Feazell of Anniston; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A native of Anniston and a resident of McMinn County, Tenn., Mr. Reese was the son of the late James Dewey and Lela Broome Reese. He was retired from Bowater Paper Company after 36 years of service as an electrician. He was a member of North Athens Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Reese; a brother, Charles Reese; and a grandchild, Laura Reese.

Services for Timothy L. Reeves, 54, of Piedmont will be today at 11 a.m. at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Pike officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Reeves died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include a son, David Reeves of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters, Terry Jackson and Connie Curtis, both of Piedmont; and two brothers, Steve Reeves and Ronnie Reeves, both of Piedmont.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mr. Reeves was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and a Vietnam veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Betty Reeves; and a sister, Sheila Reeves.

Memorials can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Services for Clara Savage Searcy, 76, of Daphne, formerly of Calhoun County, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Rev. Kevin Thomas officiating. Burial will be in DeArmanville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Searcy died Sunday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dr. Victoria Searcy and Dr. Jerry Williams of Daphne; two sisters, Sue Murphy of Piedmont and Geraldine Miller of Melrose, Fla.; and two brothers, Dewey Savage of Birmingham and Hubert Savage of Pell City.

Pallbearers will be Rick Searcy, Ron Searcy, Steven Stephens, Ben Stephens, Dewey Hughes, Hudson Catch and Mitchell Williams.

Mrs. Searcy was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and had lived in Daphne with her daughter for three years. She retired in 1983 from Post Engineers at Fort McClellan and had been a member of DeArmanville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Searcy; a daughter, Gloria Searcy; and an infant son, Robert Searcy Jr.
