KATIE CLAUDINE CHEEZUM

CHILDERSBURG Katie Claudine Cheezum, 69, died June 5 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Cheezum Sr. of Childersburg; a son, Robert Lee Cheezum Jr. of Childersburg; a daughter, Linda Sue Byrd of Goodwater; a brother, Martin Lovett of Sylacauga; two grandchildren, Shannon Hurst of Childersburg and Stephanie Parker of Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter Hurst, Jeffery Parker, Logan Hurst, Xaviar Hurst, Naomia Parker and Nathan Parker.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

FRANCES E. CORMIER

CROPWELL Funeral service for Frances E. Cormier, 68, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Matthew Brennan officiating.

Mrs. Cormier died June 4. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and was retired from St. Clair County Head Start with 20 years of service. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in Duluth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip J. Cormier. She was born and raised in Eveleth, Minn.

She is survived by eight children, Jude Cormier of Kansas City, Mo., Therese Phillips of St. Joseph, Mo., Charles Cormier of New London, Mo., John Cormier of Hannibal, Mo., James Cormier of Birmingham, Mary Robinson of Homewood, Aimee Sacks of Columbus, Wisc., and Robert Cormier of Lincoln; grandchildren, Franni Cormier, Gregory Cormier, Eli Sacks, Margaret Robinson and Mary Grace Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, St. Clair County Head Start or your local Hospice program.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Robinson, Roger Phillips, Gordon Sacks, Dave Williams, John Cormier, James Cormier and Charles Cormier.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

REBECCA DARLENE SMITH GARNER

PHENIX CITY Funeral service for Rebecca Darlene Smith Garner, 59, will be Monday at 11 a.m. E.D.T. at United Baptist Church in Phenix City with the Rev. Hank Reaves and the Rev. Jimmy Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Garner died June 6 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga. She was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Sylacauga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer L. Smith and Virginia Thomas Smith; and two sisters, Terry J. Smith and Patricia L. Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of United Baptist Church. She was an Eastern Star, past WMU director for United Baptist Church and assistant director at the Baptist Center in Phenix City.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth W. Garner of Phenix City; daughter, Shelly Marie Culpepper and husband Phil of Bowdon, Ga.; son, Ronnie Garner and wife Tabitha of Moundville; sister, Elaine Wimmer and husband Ray of Ozark; brothers, Walter V. Smith and wife Barbara of Sylacauga, Homer L. Smith and wife Cindy of Sylacauga and Jon Thomas Parker and wife Joan of Ozark; grandchildren, Crystal, Johnathan, Jimmy, Kylie and Tyler; and special friends, Paul and Margie Kee of Columbus, Ga.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. E.D.T.

Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City will direct the service.

THEWELL HAMILTON

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Memorial service for Thewell Hamilton, 66, will be held in Blue Springs Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Hamilton died May 29 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lela Hamilton.

He is survived by sons, Shaune and Shannon Hamilton of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; brothers, Sherrell Hamilton of Daleville and Harold Dean Hamilton of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; sister, Frankie Kisselovich of Alexander City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ALMA NELL WHITE LARSEN

Larsen, Alma Nell White, passed away Friday, June 6, 2003, after a long illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lt. Gen. Stanley Robert Larsen, with whom she shared a long and distinguished life of service in the United States military.

Mrs. Larson was a native of Talladega, Alabama, who became a citizen of the world, living and traveling extensively with her husband throughout the United States, Europe, China and Southeast Asia. An honors graduate of Agnes Scott College, Mrs. Larsen served her country in the Women's Air Defense Corp. in Honolulu in the months following the attack at Pearl Harbor. She was a member of the Church of the Advent, and was an avid cultivator of African violets, orchids, and other tropical flowers. She enjoyed entertaining and maintaining contact with the many friends she made on tours of duty throughout the world.

Mrs. Larsen is survived by her two sons, David (Sylvia) of Mountain Brook and Erik of Orinda, California; and four grandchildren, Hope Gabrielle Larsen and Noah Abraham Larsen of Mountain Brook, and Sarah White Larsen and Nicholas James Larsen of Orinda, California, as well as many nieces and extended family in Talladega.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial gifts be made to the Employee Christmas Fund at Somerby Assisted Living Alzheimer Unit. There will be a private family graveside internment in Mrs. Larsen's family plot in Talladega. Services under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel.

TAMMY MYLES

ANNISTON Tammy Myles, 43, of 203 Walnut St., died June 4 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

ELIZABETH UPTON SIERRA UPTON

MONTEVALLO Funeral service for Elizabeth Upton, 29, and her infant daughter, Sierra, was June 6 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hoover. Burial was in Southern Heritage Cemetery.

Mrs. Upton and her daughter died June 3.

They are survived by husband and father, Michael Upton of Montevallo; parents and grandparents, Corky and Henrietta Mims of Vestavia and Richard and Patricia Upton of Hoover; and grandparents and great-grandparents, Carl and Lillian Mims of Decatur, formerly of Sylacauga.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home directed the service.

BENNIE RAY WALKER

CULLMAN Funeral service for Bennie Ray Walker, 62, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Usrey-Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.

Mr. Walker died June 5 at his residence. He was a native of St. Clair County and lived the past four years in Cullman.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn L. Walker of Cullman; daughter, Donna L. Thomason of Cullman; grandchildren, Dustin and Dalton Thomason of Cullman; brothers, Don Walker Jr. of Ashville, Dave Walker of Idaho, George Walker of Pell City, Robert Walker of Pell City and Charlie Walker of Cropwell and sisters, Gail Rowe of Branchville and Barbara Adams of Ashville.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Lovell, Tim Lovell, Wayne Walker, Donald Walker, Steve Walker, Doug Walker and Alex Walker.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

MUTHEY DOWELL WALKER JR.

PELL CITY Funeral service for Muthey Dowell (Mickey) Walker Jr., 78, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. in Helena City Cemetery.

Mr. Walker died June 6.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

JOHNATHON ROBERT WATTS

MUNFORD Funeral service for Johnathon Robert Watts, 16, will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Salt Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Collect officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Watts died June 5 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Munford and attended Salt Creek Baptist Church and Munford Church of Christ. He attended summer camp at Camp ASCA for the past 10 years and attended Munford Child Development Center to the tenth grade. He was an avid Nascar No. 28 fan.

He is survived by his mother, Pam Arthur of Munford; father, Frankey Arthur of Munford; brother, Timothy Watts of Munford; sister, Angelica Arthur of Munford; grandparents, James Arthur Sr. and Betty Arthur of Munford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Robert Tucker, Erick Tucker, Jamin Hoover, Adam Tucker, Johne Hoover and Michael Holt.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.
