Harris

Services for Willie Harris, 54, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mr. Harris died Monday at Regional Medical Center.

BIRMINGHAM

Services for Bessie Holt, 74, of Birmingham, formerly of Talladega, will be announced by Sims Funeral Service.

Mrs. Holt died Monday.

Jemison

Services for Donald Jemison, 73, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Anniston Funeral Service with Rev. George Bates officiating.

Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery.

The body will be at the chapel an hour prior to services.

Mr. Jemison died Friday at Beckwood Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include a brother, Jimmy Buford of Anniston; and his stepmother, Ella Jemison of Anniston.

Mr. Jemison was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

McClurkin

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.

Graveside services for Louie Walter McClurkin, 89, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Roswell, Ga., will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Oxford Memorial Gardens in Oxford with Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. McClurkin died Saturday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Virginia McClurkin Jones and Charles Miller Jones Jr. of Oak Ridge; a son and his wife, David K. McClurkin and Janet Jacob McClurkin of Cleveland; five grandchildren and their spouses, Heidi McClurkin, Gretchen McClurkin Farrell and Michael Farrell, Charles Miller Jones III and Holly Scarlett, Grace Jones Phillips and Kevin Phillips, and James McClurkin; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Scarlett-Jones and Pierce Scarlett-Jones and Ethan Farrell.

Mr. McClurkin was born in Anniston and his great-great-grandparents on both sides of his family were early settlers in Calhoun County, who arrived in Alabama from South Carolina about 1830. He was a descendant of Gen. John Sevier, the first governor of Tennessee, and Sarah Hawkins Sevier.

Prior to his retirement in 1975, Mr. McClurkin started his career in printing at The Anniston Star around 1935-1937.

He worked for the Atlanta Constitution as a linotype operator and was active in the local branch of the International Typographical Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Beaver McClurkin, and was a member of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the Country Club of Roswell.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the High Museum of Art, 1280 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta, GA 30309.

Meyer

WELCH

Services for Louise Harmon Meyer, 84, of Welch will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke with Rev. Hugh Vines officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Chambers County.

The family will receive friends 4:30-7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Meyer died Monday at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke.

Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Sims of LaGrange, Sharon Alsabrook Clonts of Riverdale, Ga. and Elizabeth Adcock of Mobile; seven grandchildren, Walter T. Sims Jr., Lisa Sims Hansen, Amy Sims Pearson, Fairy Alsabrook Hood, Ginger Alsabrook Rogers, Russell Adcock and Bradley Adcock; and 12 great-grandchildren, Bo Sims, Cassy Sims, Wil Sims, Kyle Hood, Kody Hood, Alec Rogers, Tyler Rogers, Peter Hansen, Preston Hansen, Hanna Hansen, Bailey Pearson and Parker Pearson.

Mrs. Meyer was born in Chambers County and was the daughter of Herbert J. and Eppie P. Thrower Harmon.

She was self-employed as a beautician and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Meyer.

Miller

OXFORD

Graveside services for Elston E. Miller, 94, of Oxford will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge.

The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Monday at Beverly Health Care Center.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Louise Rice Mignerey and Joyce Miller Kilgore, both of Anniston and Ada Stewart of Heflin; three sisters, Vivian Vick of Talladega, Bobby Liner of Sycamore and Ruby Greer of Austell, Ga.; brother, Bleonard Miller of Sycamore, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Miller was a native of St. Clair County and was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret H. Miller.

Owens

Services for Sophia G. Owens, 96, of Anniston will be Friday at Dillardís Funeral Home in Pickens, S.C. with Rev. Richard Burgess officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home in South Carolina.

Mrs. Owens died Jan. 8 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris Ponder of Anniston, Yvonne Thomas of Richmond, Ind. and Ruby Helton of Somerset, Ky.; two sons, Lee M. Owens of Warsaw, Ky. and Robert Owens Jr. of Travelers Rest. S.C.; a sister, Dora Barrow of Harrison, Ohio, 28 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Owens was a native of Kentucky and had lived in Anniston 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Owens Sr.

HEFLIN

Services for Sarah Ann Riddle, 52, of Heflin will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Heflin Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at Dryden Funeral Home.

Mrs. Riddle died Monday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heflin Baptist Church.

Spradlin

JACKSONVILLE

Services for Christine Bishop Spradlin, 77, of Jacksonville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Earl Tucker officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Spradlin died Sunday at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Spradlin and Steve Spradlin, both of Jacksonville; two brothers, Chalmus Earl Bishop of Oneonta and Elie Bishop of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Christopher Spradlin, Shelly Spradlin and Tiffany Spradlin, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Spradlin was a native of Blount County and had lived in Calhoun County more than 40 years.

She was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Spradlin.

Wade

FIVE POINTS

Services for Larry Roy Wade, 62, of Five Points will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke with Revs. S.T. Janney and Jodie Overton officiating.

Burial will be in Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends 5-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Wade died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Wade of Five Points; his mother, Mary Wade of Roanoke; a son and his wife, Terry and Robin Wade of Five Points; a sister, Brenda Brown of Roanoke; three brothers, Norman Wade, Jerry Wade and Hayward Wade, all of Roanoke; a grandchild, Valerie Wade; and two step-grandchildren, Shannon Nobley and Cassie Bowen.

Mr. Wade was a born in West Point, Ga., and was employed as a railroad and security guard. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Wade.
