MR. MADDEN

OPELIKA -- Mr. Bobby Madden, 59, of Opelika died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.D. Darden officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Madden is survived by his wife, A. Jean Madden of Opelika; four children, Jeana (Chris) Madden Thomas of LaGrange, Brandee Madden of Tuscaloosa, Ala, JaDarious Madden of Opelika and Stanley Jones of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Pinkie Mae Brooks of Milledgeville, Ga. and Bertha Mae Smith of Valley; three brothers, Willie George Melton of Birmingham, Ala., Willie (Lois) Madden of Valley and Tommy Lee Madden of Opelika; two grandchildren, Christopher Thomas and Miles Thomas, both of LaGrange; two aunts, Jeanett Evans of Cleveland, Ohio and Goldie Pearl Drake of Atlanta; one uncle, Joe Johnson of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A family gathering was held Saturday, June 12 at Harris Funeral Home.

Harris Funeral Home of Opelika handled arrangements.

MR. MYHAND

WEST POINT -- Mr. Raymond Myhand, 66, of West Point died Friday, June 11, 2004 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Funeral services were scheduled Monday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange with the Revs. Jimmy McMillian and Mike Reeves officiating. Burial followed in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.

Mr. Myhand is survived by his wife, Gail Myhand of West Point, three daughters, Whitney Myhand of West Point, Dana (Lee) Traylor of LaGrange and Susan (Keith) Barfield of Hoover, Ala.; three sons, David Myhand of LaGrange, Allen (Donna) Myhand of Lucydale, Ms. and Phillip (Sheery) Myhand of Easley, S.C.; two brothers, Curtis (Camilla) Myhand of LaGrange and Glen (Pat) Myhand of Columbus and 12 grandchildren.

Born in Troup County on June 13, 1937, Mr. Myhand was the son of Ora Hardy Myhand and Otis Myhand. He was a funeral director for McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point until his illnes. He had also worked for Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange for 31 years. Mr. Myhand was in the National Guard for seven years. He was a member of Oakside Baptist Church in LaGrange. My Myhand was precended in death by his son, Mark Myhand.

The family were at the home of Wanda and Tommy O'Neal in LaGrange and family members received friends at McCarthy Funeral Home Sunday evening.

Mr. Myhand laid in state from 1-2 p.m. at Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange Monday before the service.

Funeral arrangements were handled by McCarthy Funeral Home of West Point.

MS. WILLIAMS

LANETT -- Ms. Emma "Louise" Hardy Williams, 89, of Lanett died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday June 14 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with the Revs. Louis Upshaw, Donald Lancaster, Eugene Cooks and Arthur Jackson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Virgil (Rose) Williams Jr. and Rufus James (Shirley) Williams, both of Marietta, Ga.' five daughters, Mary G. Williams and Minnie M. Day, both of Louisville, Ky., Ernestine (Rev. Louis) Upshaw, Doris W. Rea and Vivian A. (Johnny) Nelloms, all of Lanett, 32 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-granchildren, a sister-in-law, Willie Mae Hardy of Detroit, Mich.; two god-sisters, Luellar (Wylie) Cammon and Doris M. Woody, both of Lanett; a special close and dear friend, Essie Mae Harris of Lanett, one son-in-law, Gene D. Rea of Lanett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Born in Troup County on Oct. 6, 1914, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Mr. Bud Hardy and Mrs. Mary (Pittman) Hardy who preceded her in death. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Her service at the church included C. Primary Sunday school teacher, original member of Choir No. 2; Vacation Bible School Teacher, Matrons, Pastor aide, Missionary Society, a faithful member of H. Female Sunday School Class and an active participant in different church pageants.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 14 at M.W. Mortuary, Inc. from 7-8:30 p.m. Her remains will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

MR. BISHOP

VALLEY -- Mr. Larry Gaines Bishop, 56, of Valley died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Dr. Jerome King officiating. Burial will follow at Shawmut Cemetery.

He is survived by his son, David (Marilyn) Bishop of Tampa, Fla.; his daughter, Tracey Shearer of Tampa; two grandchildren, Jennifer Shearer and Erika Bishop; his brother, Dell (Patricia) Bishop of Valley; his mother, Emma Jean Daughtery Bishop of Valley; and his fiancee, Sarah Denise Boyd of Valley.

Mr. Bishop was born Oct. 1, 1947 in Chambers County, Ala. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, where he was an air traffic controller. Mr. Bishop attended Shawmut First Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his father, Gaines Bishop.

The family respectfully declines the gift of flowers and asks that memorials be made to one's charity of choice in his memory.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

MR. BOYD

VALLEY -- Mr. James Arnold Boyd, 76, of Valley died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Lanett with Burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Orlene W. Boyd; a son, Kenneth Noel Boyd of Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, James O'Neal and Teri Boyd of Fortson, Ga.; a sister, Mary M. Livingston of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy Renee and Dan Baker; two great-grandchildren, Lane Wade and Taylor Janai Baker; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Boyd was a member and deacon of Delta Independent Church in Delta, Ala. He was retired from House Plumbing Co. as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Iris and Lovie Naomi Boyd; his son, Joel Eugene Boyd; and his brother, Billy Joe Boyd.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.

WADLEY -- Funeral services are pending for Mr. David Hill of Wadley, who died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

FIVE POINTS -- Mrs. Sadie Mae Holloway, 75, of Five Points died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at LaFayette Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 13 at 2 p.m. CDT at Whitehall Baptist Church in LaFayette with the Rev. Charles Bernard Daniel and the Rev. Ed Vines, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Milltown Cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Willie Radney (Latasha) Holloway of Las Vegas, Nev., Gregory (Natalie) Holloway of Cambridge, Mass., and Jerome Holloway of Auburn, Ala.; six daughters, Juanita Holloway Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sadie Pearl Holloway Gill of Memphis, Tenn., Gloria Ann Holloway Davis of Five Points, Diane Holloway (Marvin) Whigham of Orange Park, Fla., Janice Holloway (Willie) Brazile of Huntsville, Ala., and Cheryl Mureen Holloway of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Bertha Satterwhite of Wilmington, N.C., Zelma Bailey of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mamie L. (James) Muhommad of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Mattie Pearson of Chicago, Ill.; an aunt, Dollie Adamson Boykins of Chattanooga, Tenn; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Holloway was born Nov. 22, 1928 in Chambers County. She was a member of Whitehall Baptist Church.

MRS. HOLMES

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Mrs. Gladys J. Finley Holmes, 74, of Seattle, formerly of LaFayette, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 in Seattle.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. CDT at Finley Cemetery in LaFayette with the Rev. C.H. Owens officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Thelma Norwood of Seattle; a grandson, Dana Norwood of Seattle; a granddaughter, Qiana Norwood of Seattle; and a great-granddaughter, Qiara Norwood of Seattle.

Mrs. Holmes was born March 3, 1930 in Chambers County, Ala.

VALLEY -- Mrs. LaMerle McKinney, 79, of Valley died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Floyd Aikens, Brother Rusty Letson and Janice Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Langdale Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, George S. McKinney; three daughters, Neil Mooney of Douglasville, Ga., Susan (Willard) Eason of Huguley and Charlotte (Roy Sr.) Britton of Oxford, Ala.; one son, Pat (Karen) McKinney of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Denise (Scott) Leach, Michelle (Howie) Wolfson, Rob (Tabitha) Mooney, Courtney (Walt) Cash, all of Douglasville; Lindy (Carl) Worthy, Tammy (Les) McMakin and Beverly Eason, all of Cusseta, Tony Eason and Julie Eason, both of Huguley, Janet (Douglas) Harmon of Valley, Rodney White of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Roy Britton Jr. of Valley, Shelly (Scott) Aikens of Valley and Ryan Perry of Marietta; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McKinney was born June 21, 1924 in LaGrange, Ga. She was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church and a former member of the WMU.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

MRS. WILLIAMS

WEST POINT -- Mrs. Bobbie Lee Williams, 88, of West Point died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Beverly Health Care Center in Lanett.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14 at 3 p.m. at Emanuel Chapel CME Church in West Point with the Rev. Lovette Thornton and the Rev. T.D. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in West Point.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Williams of Washington, D.C.; a grandson, Steve Billingslea of Valley; two nieces, Frances B. Haynes of Chicago, Ill., and Christine Brown of Baltimore, Md.; three nephews, Cedric A. Bush of LaGrange, Ga., Rayfield Bush Jr. and LeGerald Bush, both of Baltimore; two great-nieces, Gail Bush and Jocelyn Bush, both of Baltimore; one great-nephew, Larry Bush of Baltimore; cousins, Christine Billings of Decatur, Ga., Myron (Shirley) Jackson of West Point and Karen (David) Maultsby of Decatur; an array of grandchildren; her church family, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Williams was born Aug. 10, 1915 in Troup County, Ga. She was a product of the West Point City School System. She was a member of Emanuel Chapel CME Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday school teacher and member of the Missionary Society. She was the daughter of the late Ms. Ella Griggs. Her husband, James Williams, and a sister, Martha Bush, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 13 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at M.W. Lee Mortuary. The remains will lie in state at the church Monday, June 14 from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family may be contacted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Jackson, 901 Avenue M, West Point.

VALLEY -- Mr. Brenton C. "Red" Latham, 86, of Valley died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Dennis Herron and the Rev. Tom Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfax Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Conaway Latham; three children, Carolyn (C.B.) Craven of Roanoke, Ala., Brenda (Dave) Graber of Marietta, Ga., and Linda Robinson of Valley; four grandchildren, Regina Moon, Tonya (Benjie) Full, Heath (Anjie) Graber and Laurie Graber; six great-grandchildren, Rhonda, Reba and Dalton Moon and Brittany, Austin and Peyton Full; a sister, Clessie Freeman of Valley; and two brothers, Brewer Latham of Valley and Elmer (Ruth) Latham of Valley.

Mr. Latham was born May 12, 1918 in Clay County, Ala. He was the son of the late Ioma Luker Latham and Charley Latham. He was a member of the C.C.C. during World War II and was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Fairfax Mill. He was a member of Fairfax United Methodist Church.

Mr. Latham was preceded in death by his sister, Kytha Woodruff; his brother, Barney Latham; and a grandson, Ken Craven.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice or to Fairfax United Methodist Church in his memory.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 10 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
