FRED D. CURRY

BYNUM — Fred D. Curry, 70, died June 10 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

JERRY DEAN FRAZER

SEALE — Graveside service for U.S. Army Ret. Jerry Dean Frazer, 70, will be Friday at 3 p.m. in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Frazer died June 10 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga. He was born in Birmingham, was a native of Pell City and has been a resident of Seale for 17 years. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 665 in Columbus, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Wilson Frazer.

He is survived by daughter, Debra Frazer of Smiths Station; sons, Jeffery Dean Frazer of Cataula, Ga., Randy Odell Frazer of Seale, Eddie Berryhill of Ragland and Jimmy Berryhill of Jasper; his mother, Clara (Bobbie) Belle Williamson of Pell City; sisters, Barbara Sowell of Huntsville and Betty Kemp of Fairhope; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Phenix City will direct the service.

LORA McELRATH

KELLYTON — Lora McElrath died June 11 at her residence.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Deva L. Morrow, 25, formerly of Anniston, died June 5 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

HERBERT G. WILKERSON

ALPINE — Herbert G. Wilkerson, of 3037 Oakdale Road, died June 11 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home.

TILDA REBECCA DeLOACH

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Tilda Rebecca DeLoach, 86, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Gresham and the Rev. Don Graves officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. DeLoach died June 12 at Coosa Valley BMC. She graduated salutatorian from Tallapoosa County High School in Dadeville in 1936. She retired from Sylacauga Post Office as a postal carrier after 30 years. She worked tirelessly as youth director at several churches pastored by her husband, the Rev. James M. DeLoach, all of their married life. She eagerly worked on youth activities, musical events and Christmas plays with live animals. She managed the family owned store for 30 years that was located on the corner of Merkle Avenue and Pine Street. We celebrate her life as a true child of God.

She is survived by sons, James Douglas DeLoach and wife Jan of Ringgold, Ga., and John David DeLoach and wife Sondra of Eufaula; daughter, Rebecca Ann DeLoach of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Scott DeLoach of Atlanta, Ga., Christy Owens of Thomasville, Ga., Shauna Albert of Sylacauga, Shari Peeples of Sylacauga, Shane DeLoach of Sylacauga, Marie Toole of Eufaula, Callie DeLoach of Eufaula, Greg Gibson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Amy Ryans of Ringgold, Ga., and Eric DeLoach of Eufaula; great-grandchildren, Ryan Owens, Peyton Owens, Sam Albert, Daniel Albert, Ceslie Peeples, Logan DeLoach, Whitney Toole, Garet Gibson and Madison Ryans; and several nieces and nephews.

The body may be viewed Saturday from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the church.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Westview Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Richard Wingard, Larry DeLoach, Harold Jones, Ira Blanchard, Donny Blackmon and Clyde Hughes.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MARY E. BRADFORD

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Mary E. Bradford, 53, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Sylacauga with Scott C. Bolton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mrs. Bradford died June 9 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Sr. and Louise Hughes. She was a lifelong resident of Anniston and was the owner of the Martin Luther King Child Development Center.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Bradford; son, Ralph E. Bradford II of Montgomery; daughters, Eriica Mallard of Weaver and Ayanna S. Bradford of Alexandria; sisters, Hattie Simmons, Linda Hughes, Rina Hughes, Sarah Hughes and Ernestine Moss; brothers, Henery Hughes, Billy Hughes, Ozzie Hughes and Jimmy Hughes; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Bradford II, Wendel Baskin, Henery Hughes Jr., Robert Baskin, Julius Mallard and Walter Hughes.

Ervin Funeral Chapel will direct the service.

THOMAS J. CLARK JR.

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Thomas J. Clark Jr., 81, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Hobson City with the Rev. Terrell Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Clark died June 9 at Jacksonville Medical Center. He was preceded in death by a son, Abraham Clark and a sister, Francis Kirkland.

He is survived by sons, Mark Clark of Anniston, Greg Long of California, Frankie Long of Memphis, Tenn., Larence Miller of New York, N.Y., Thomas Long of Piedmont; daughters, Sandra Johnson and Proju Jean Butts of Anniston and Willie Jones of Montgomery; sisters, Dorothy Lee Meadows and Queen Ester Lowe of Anniston; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Lucky Seven Savings Club will serve as pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

EULA ARRINGTON CONLEY

HOBSON CITY — Funeral service for Eula Arrington Conley, 62, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Anniston with the Rev. Harry Malone officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Cemetery in Anniston.

Mrs. Conley died June 11 at her residence. She was an educator in the Anniston School System.

She is survived by son, Kenneth Conley; daughter, Robin Carter; sisters, Willie Lois Arrington, Sarah Harris, Terita McKenzie, Ann Slezak and Corinna Arrington; brothers, John A. Arrington and Eddie B. Arrington; two grandchildren and other relatives.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Sweet Rock Baptist Church Womens Ministry, P.O. Box 3046, Oxford, Ala., 36203.

Ervin Funeral Chapel will direct the service.

FRED D. CURRY

BYNUM — Funeral service for Fred D. Curry, 70, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kelly Springs Baptist Church in Talladega with the Rev. Valento Hall officiating. Burial will be in Kelly Springs Memorial Gardens in Talladega.

Mr. Curry died June 10 at his residence. He was a member of Pine Grove C.M.E. Church of Eastaboga.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Curry of Bynum; son, Charles Curry of Anniston; daughters, Patricia Turner of Munford, Charlene Curry of Macon, Ga., Tammy Thomas of Anniston and Pamela Heath of Bynum; sisters, Fannie Scott of Warner Robbins, Ga., Laura Beavers of Talladega, Betty Martin of Bronx, N.Y., Clara Storey of Springfield, Ohio, Leila Rogers of Talladega and JoAnn Truss of Lincoln; brothers, Nathaniel Curry of Anniston, Maurice Storey of Springfield, Ohio, and Clarence Storey of Gadsden; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

JESSE HOOKS

CROPWELL — Funeral service for Jesse Hooks, 75, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. A.L. Courtney officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hooks died June 12. He was born in Orville and raised in Uniontown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Avondale Mills in 1989 with 29 years of service. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Pell City and was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Karen Hooks and Kathy Lynn Hooks and one granddaughter, Jessica Shea Hooks.

He is survived by his wife, Cora Hooks of Cropwell; sons, Jesse Donald Hooks (Karen), Ronald Curtis Hook (Barbara), all of Pell City and Timmy Wayne Hooks (Regina) of Cropwell; daughters, Susan Diane Bowman of Pell City and Patti Kay Hughes (Tim E.) of Cropwell; 14 grandchildren, Christie Lynn Hooks, Randall Graves, Paul Graves, Rachel Bowman, Jesse Porter Hooks, Sarah Harris Hooks, Zachary Donald Hooks, Mark Lee Hooks, Ashley Lynn Hooks, Corey Beth Hooks, Jennifer Leigh Anderson, Melanie Denise Anderson, Taylor Renee Hughes, Meghan Elizabeth Hughes; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Hooks of Bragg, Milton Hooks of Montgomery and Lester Hooks of Huntsville; sister, Nadine Kirk of Montgomery; stepbrothers, Larry Fuller of Montgomery and Ellis Fuller of Prattville.

Pallbearers will be Randall Graves, Paul Graves, Jesse Porter Hooks, Zachary D. Hooks, William Bronzie Harris III and Mark Harris.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Rev. Henry L. McKinney, of 3206 Messena Lane, formerly of Talladega, died June 12 in Augusta, Ga.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

RAYMOND POE

HALIFAX, Va. — Raymond Poe, 82, died June 12 at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, Va.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

SANFORD W. PRUITT

TALLADEGA — Sanford W. Pruitt died June 13 at University Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home.

MARY THORNTON

SYLACAUGA — Mary Thornton, 72, died June 13 at Coosa Valley BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

HENRY ALSON TURNER

MOODY — Funeral service for Henry Alson Turner, 75, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Forest Crest Cemetery.

Mr. Turner died June 13.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Wilson Turner; daughters, Karen Byers, Rhonda Turner and Donna Turner; son, Henry Turner Jr.; brothers, Harold and James Turner; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds will direct the service.

ANNIE MAE RUSSELL WISE

SAMSON — Annie Mae Russell Wise, of 1525 Highway 87, Samson and the Enterprise Nursing Home, passed away June 12 after a lengthy illness. She was 100 years old.

There will be a graveside service at Fairview Baptist Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, with Pittman Funeral Home in Samson directing. The Rev. Donald Hall, pastor of the Fairview Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Active pallbearers are Allen Wise, Chip Coble, Richard Williamson, Pete McInish, Michael Williams and Barry Walker. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Pittman’s Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home at P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Ala., 35236-1767.

Mrs. Wise was born in Pike County (Ansley Community) on Aug. 8, 1902, to Bryant Dawson Russell and Clara Berrey Russell. She attended public school in Troy and was graduated from Troy High School and Troy Norman (now Troy State University) in 1924. She also attended Greensboro Women’s College in Greensboro, North Carolina and later was employed by Pilot Life Insurance Company of Greensboro. She also taught school at Fairview Junior High School in rural Coffee County where she met and married John Allen Wise in 1925. They had three children all of whom survive her today.

Mrs. Wise was of the Baptist faith and at the time of her death was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in rural Coffee County where she served as pianist during her active years. She also served as pianist for the First Baptist Church in Samson for many years. An active member of the Samson Garden Club for many years, she was an avid rose grower and landscape enthusiast.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Wise, and a son-in-law, H. Dwight McInish.

Survivors include two daughters, Clara Jean McInish of Dothan and Ruth Williams and husband Raymond E. Williams of Sylacauga; one son, James A. Wise and wife Joyce French Wise of Samson; seven grandchildren, Pete and wife Jennifer McInish of Dothan, Ruth and husband Richard Williamson of Montgomery, Michael Williams of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Anna Williams of Auburn, Melissa and husband Barry Walker of Sylacauga, Allen and wife Mary Ashley Paul Wise of Samson and Amy Wise Coble and husband William Henry (Chip) Coble of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret and Pete McInish, Elizabeth, Ashley and Richard Williamson III, Olivia Lane and John Allen Wise II, and Cristy Allen (Allee) Coble.

Pittman Funeral Home in Samson will direct the service.
