PAYNE, Lela Jones, 93, a resident of Montgomery, died Monday, November 25, 2002. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27th at 2:00 p.m. from Leak-Memory Chapel with Reverend Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Payne. She is survived by her son, R. L. Henry and daughter, Sandra Payne Werley, Ft. Worth, Texas; sister, Robbie Jones Wedgeworth, Alex City, AL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Payne was a long time member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church having joined in 1953. She sang in the church choir. She also sang in a Quartet, and also was an accomplished pianist. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel.

DANIELS, Little Miss Breasha, a resident of Montgomery, AL, expired Friday, November 22, 2002.
Funeral arrangements and survivors will be announced at a later date by Lee’s Funeral Home.

DUNCAN, Miss Regina

DUNCAN, Miss Regina “Precious”, a resident of Montgomery County, expired on Thursday, November 21, 2002. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1032 Stephens Street. With the Elder David Oliver, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the McQueen Cemetery in Burkeville, AL with Lee’s Funeral Home Directing.

She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Trevell Duncan and Quintereo Jackson, Jr. of Montgomery, AL; father, Dennis Little Clayborne of Montgomery, AL; sisters and brothers, Charlotte (Arthur) Melson, LaTasha Hall, Leon (Chang) Evans, Johnny (Cassandra) Wigfall, Charlie Wigfall, Antrawn Duncan and Eric Hall, all of Montgomery, AL; grandmother, Mary Little Germany of Montgomery, AL; aunts and uncles, Inez Duncan of Detroit, MI, Susie Duncan of Cleveland, OH, James (Mary) Duncan of Birmingham, AL, Lisa (Guy) Johnson, Frank Little, Deborah Nettles, Diana (Willie) Franklin, Ervin (Shanta) Little, Regina Germany and Mary Little-Germany, all of Montgomery, AL; a special friend, Quintero Jackson, Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Devoted friends, Bernadette Jackson, Kiwan, DeJourne and Anntte Henderson.

ROSS, Mr. Marvin, a resident of Montgomery, AL, expired Monday, November 25, 2002.
Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Phillips-Riley Funeral Home.

WARD, Arthur Marvin, Jr.

WARD, Arthur Marvin, Jr., 84, a resident of Springfield, VA, died on Saturday, November 23, 2002, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 29, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Reverend officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel Directing. Mr. Ward was a native and long-time resident of Montgomery, AL and moved to Springfield, VA in 1961 to pursue a career with the Veterans Administration and retired in 1980. He was a Shriner, a Master Mason and a member of A. Jackson Lodge No. 173 of F & AM of Alabama. He also honorably served his country during World War II from 1940 to 1945 as a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cornelia Cobb Ward; son, A. Marvin Ward; daughter-in-law, Jennifer McKinney Ward; granddaughter, Savannah Nicole Ward; sister, Mary Ward Gray; brother-in-law, Charles F. Gray; sister-in-law, Priscilla Cobb Hendricks and several nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers will be Jim Cobb, Lt. Col. Jack Buckner, Anthony Yarbrough, Thomas E. Searcy, Thomas E. Searcy, Jr., Jack Dean, Edward Lee and James Reed. Charles F. Gray will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel one hour prior to his service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

ARNETTE, Sarah Elizabeth, of Montgomery, died Sunday, November 24, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by her parents, Monica Kunert and Justin David Arnette; grandparents, Deborah Ward and Ben Ward, Bob Kunert and Kathy and Robert Arnette; great-grandparents, Lewis and Kate Arnette, Kelly Edmond and a very special and dear friend, Mary Campbell “Maw Maw”.

Our Little Angel was very loved by her parents and family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Berry of Deatsville, AL; one son, Gordon H. Berry, III of Deatsville, AL; three daughters, Melissa K. Kreamer of Trinity, AL, Amanda J. Ingram of Millbrook, AL and Michelle A. Nelson of Deatsville, AL; 11 grandchildren, Brandi, Kaleb, Britni, Jeremy, Summer, Jordan, Tyler, Brett, Karis, Houston and Alexandria; four brothers, James W. Berry of Montgomery, AL, Robert E. Berry of Deatsville, AL, John T. Berry of Deatsville, AL and Ronald R. Berry of Deatsville, AL; four sisters, Betty Tule of Deatsville, AL, Rosie Price of Deatsville, AL, Linda Henderson of Central, AL and Josephine Davis of Prattville, AL. He was retired United States Air Force for 20 years and owned and operated Berry Dental Lab for 20 years. Mrs. Scott was a native of Andalusia, AL and had been a resident of Brewton since 1994, coming from Bay Minette. She was a homemaker and was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Brewton.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Frank L. Scott of Brewton; a son, Jeffrey Lloyd Scott and his wife, Susan Ann Gaylord of Durham, NC; two daughters, Fran Scott of Nashville, TN and Susan Porch and husband John Porch of Easton, MD and five grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Brewton on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Williams, Rev. Tom Butts and Rev. Floyd Enfinger officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 300 Vestavia Parkway #3500, Birmingham, AL, 35216 or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
