Mr. Jimmy Higgins
Mr. Jimmy Raymond Higgins, age 47, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in Pine Bluff.
He was born to John Ellis and Barbara L. Young Higgins at De Queen, Arkansas, on May 16, 1960. He was a LPN, and enjoyed leather works, and wood working.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Higgins in 1987, and David Humphrey in 2007.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Duke, Anthony Higgins and Joey Higgins both of Grannis, his mother and step-father, Barbara and James E. Westbrook of De Queen, one brother, Johnny Ray Higgins of Wisconsin, one sister, Tonya Lynn Golden of De Queen, one step-brother, Scotty Westbrook of De Queen, one step-sister, Sissy Arndt of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Higgins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Overturf Cemetery with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. There will be private viewing only.

Mr. Burton Michael “Mike” Barringer
Mr. Burton Michael “Mike” Barringer, age 60, a resident of Horatio, Ark., died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in Wadley Regional Medical Center.
He was born to Burton Fred and Patricia Ernestine Whitaker Barringer at Carmel, Calif. He served in the military with the U. S. Army, and was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Alexander of Horatio, two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Colt and Jennifer Barringer of Wiggins, Miss., and Robert Allen Barringer of Russellville, Ark.; two daughters and son-in-law, Tammy Stallings of Placerville, Calif.; and Christina and Ronnie Willis of Horatio, Ark.; five step-sons, Sam Alexander, Thurman Alexander, Thomas Alexander, William Alexander and James Alexander all of Horatio, his step-father, Don Gaylord of Horatio, five brothers, Phillip Barringer of Horatio, Clifford Barringer of Little Rock, Ark.; Woody Barringer of Fort Worth, Texas, Lewis Barringer of De Queen, and Russell Barringer of Quinlan, Texas; four step-brothers, Mike Gaylord, Craig Gaylord, and David Gaylord all of Horatio, and Brian Gaylord of De Queen, seven grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mr. Burton Barringer will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12th in the First Baptist Church of Horatio. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church following the memorial services. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen

LOIS MARIE MORPHEW

Mrs. Lois Marine Morphew, age 85, a resident of Brownwood, Texas died Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Brownwood.

She was born March 27, 1922 in Sevier county, AR to Henry and Versie Cobb Stallings. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Morphew is survived by her nieces an nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2008 in the Old Center Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends form 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1st at the Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Fredrick Barker
Mrs. Dorothy Louise Fredrick Barker, age 74, a resident of Kirby, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, in the St. Joseph Hospital, Hot Springs, Ark.
She was born to George Elmer and Alice Irene McIntosh Fredrick at Oblong, Illinois on April 29, 1933. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed traveling, writing, spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Junior Fredrick, her son, George Henry Ballew, and a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Ballew.

She is survived by nine grandchildren, Nancy Walls of Pearcy, Ark., Richard Ballew of De Queen, Michael Ballew of Benton, Amanda, Becky, Terra, Adam Ballew all of Hot Springs, Ronnie Turnbough, Jr and Austin Turnbough both of Hot Springs, Ark.; 15 great-grandchildren, Dustin, Christian, Jacob, Brandon, Kaleb, Dylan, Brandon, Alissa, Gary, Allie, Ashley, Kaleb, Nicholas, Cory, and Greg, one brother, Billy Fredrick of Illinois, three sisters, Jennie of Illinois, Virginia of Indiana, and Barbara Thompson of North Carolina.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2nd in the Overturf Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Perrylene Cearley

Perrylene Cearley, age 81, a resident of Dierks, AR died Thursday, February 28, 2008 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, AR.

She was born March 25, 1926 in the Dilworth Community to Robert Samuel and Jesse Gore Simer. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnet A. “Aud” Cearley on August 26, 1989.

She is survived by a son, G.A. Cearley, Jr. of Vandervoort, AR; two daughters, Gwen Lowrey of Dierks, AR and Jackie Wakefield of Texarkana, TX; a sister, Rose Van Meter of Texarkana, TX; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cearley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Ellis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter

Mrs. Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 28, 2008 in the Crystal Falls Heath Center, De Queen.
She was born to George Edward and Genetta Harris Liggin in the Avon Community, Arkansas, on October 27, 1922. She was a homemaker, and a Baptist. She enjoyed flowers, fishing, and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Walter, Frank, Glen, and Fletcher Liggin, three sisters, Rose, Velma, and Annie, a son, Louis McWhorter in 1981, a grandson, P. J. Smith, a great-grandson, Kain McWhorter, and in February of 2007, her husband of 65 years, Allen McWhorter.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Sarah McWhorter of Kirby, Arkansas, David and Penny McWhorter of Lockesburg, three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Dale Green, and Tava and Phillip Gordon all of Lockesburg, and Genetta and Willie Adams of De Queen, one brother, Charlie Liggin of Lockesburg, a sister, Callie Ross of Lubbock, Texas, 18 grandkids, 24 great-grandkids, and 3 great-great-grandkids.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lillie McWhorter will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1st in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, Lockesburg, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Dura Mae Tallant

Mrs. Dura Mae Tallant, age 85, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in Crystal Falls Healthcare in De Queen.

She was born October 3, 1922 in Amity, AR to Tillman and Ada Partridge. She was a homemaker, a volunteer for the Salvation Army, and a member of the First Christian Church of DeQueen.

Mrs. Tallant was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harvey Tallant on December 5, 2000.

She is survived by four daughters, Lottie Rothgeb of Bluffton, Indiana, Merilyn Pasley of Donaldson, Arkansas, Mary Watts of Alpine, Arkansas and Linda Higgins of De Queen; three brothers, Jesse Partridge, Clifton Partridge, and LeRoy Partridge, all of Amity, AR; one sister, Dorothy House, also of Amity; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Tallant will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the First Christian Church in DeQueen with Doug Dorris officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 29th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ollie Herring

Mrs. Ollie Herring, age 90, of Wickes, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at her home.

She was born December 18, 1917 in Wickes, Arkansas to the late Thadeous Oceola Tunnell and the late Mary Bell Tunnell. She was united in marriage to Guy Herring, until his passing in 1988. She was a farmer by profession and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by: Children: George Herring and wife Margie of Wickes, Arkansas Ola Richardson and husband L. C. of Grannis, Arkansas Darrell Herring and wife Esther of Wickes, Arkansas Johnny Herring and wife Susan of Mena, Arkansas; Sister: Ann Saddler of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren 5 great-great-grandchildren Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thadeous and Mary Tunnell, by her husband Guy Herring, 4 sisters, Ruby Chambers, Evelyn Watkins, Sis Newman, and Iris O’Connor, and a brother Thadeous Oceola Tunnell, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wickes Church of Christ with Brother David Jacobs and Brother Leon McCleskey officiating. Interment will follow at Daniel Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, February 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Watkins, Jerry Watkins, Larry Watkins, Ronnie Gillaspy, Don Richardson, and Reggie Saddler.

Harold Wayne Beaty

Mr. Harold Wayne Beaty, age 76, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Monday, February 25, 2008 in the Christus St. Michael Health System.

He was born to James Leroy and Addie Binyard Beaty at Cove, Arkansas, on September 10, 1931. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U. S. Army and member of the First Baptist Church of Grannis. He was retired from Lewis Lumber Company, Cove, with 36 years service, and enjoyed woodworking, and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Beaty, and two sisters, Wyvil Youmans, and Wilma Plumbley.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Jones Bagley Beaty of Grannis, six sons, Jerry Beaty of Hatton, Ark.; Dale Beaty of Oklahoma, Howard Bagley of Ashdown, Terry Bagley of Grannis, Larry Bagley of De Queen, and Doyle Bagley of Wickes, three daughters, Louise Farley of Alvin, Texas, Ruby Bagley of Shreveport, La., and Helen Overturf of Gillham, 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wayne Beaty will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Grannis with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Overturf Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen

Wesley Woodrow Young

Mr. Wesley Woodrow Young went to be with the Lord and rest in peace on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in De Queen.

He was born to James and Lillie (Hilton) Young in Corinth, Arkansas on August 27, 1918. He retired from the city of Turlock, California. He moved his family to California in 1953 and was married to the mother of his children Evelyn (Irvan) Young for forty years. His hobbies while in California were panning for gold and fishing. Wesley loved to entertain family and friends playing his harmonica, singing gospel songs and telling his stories.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Lloyd, Floy Belle, Benny, Earl, Jimmy, Bernice Stinnett, Lillie Ima and Glen; and one grandson, Steven Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Young; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie and Lloyd Reynolds of Carmichael, California, Sheryl Reese of Modesto, California and Terisa and Mitch Logsdon of Turlock, California; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Wilma Young also of Turlock; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and LaDon Martin of Crossett, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Young will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating.
