Evelyn Manasco

Evelyn Manasco, age 74, of Umpire, died Monday, March 3, 2008.

She was born December 24, 1933 in Umpire, the daughter of Oscar Thomas Young and Snow Davis Young. On February 4, 1950 she was married to Reece Manasco who preceded her in death on August 5, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the Umpire Free Holiness Church, and was on the bowling league in DeQueen.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Danny Litchford of Horatio; two grandsons, Jonathan Glasgow and Allen Glasgow; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Glasgow, Cadee Reece Glasgow and Lexi Simmons; one brother and sister-in-law, R. B. and Wanda Young of Ashdown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Belva and Larry Pinkerton of Umpire and Ruth and Don Vaughn of Umpire; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Umpire Free Holiness Church with Bro. Don Vaughn and Bro. Scott Vaughn officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Umpire under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Juanita Christine Barrow Eason

Mrs. Juanita Christine Barrow Eason, age 74, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, March 4th at her home.

She was born to Walter and Estella Miller Barrow at De Queen, Arkansas, on December 1, 1933. She attended the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, crafts, sewing, and playing solitaire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mike Goodwin in 2000, a great-grandchild, Kyler Samuels in 2007, a brother, Shorty Barrow., and her first husband, Clarence Fredrick Goodwin, Sr., in 1971.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Eason of De Queen, four sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Fredrick and Becky Goodwin of Kansas City, Kansas, Boyd and Rhonda Goodwin of Shady Point, Oklahoma, Charles and Belinda Goodwin of Poteau, Okla, and John and Kathy Goodwin of Shady Point, Okla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Jimmy Samuels of De Queen, Juanita Sue and Benny Samuels of De Queen, Kristy and Grayson Winer of De Queen, two step-sons, Nicky and his wife, Mary Ann Eason of De Queen, and Randy and his wife, Darla Eason of Mansfield, Ark.; three step-daughters, Gail and her husband, Mike Sewell of Texarkana, Tex, Dolly and her husband, Nathan Duck of Springhill, La.; and Angie James and her husband, Harvey Jarvie of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, one brother, Clifton “Buddy” Taylor of Horatio, three sisters, Wanda Ruth of De Queen, Cindy Tollett of De Queen, and Linda Wilson of Longview, Texas, forty-three grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Juanita Eason will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6th.

Floyd E. Walker

Mr. Floyd E. Walker, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his home.

He was born on October 31, 1928 at De Queen, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having retired from the U. S. Army with 28 years service. He was Sevier County Tax Assessor, serving 17 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the VFW, and Sweet Home Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32 degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Downs Mangold, a son, Ricky Allen Walker in 2002, and his wife, Ima Jean Walker in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Floy Jean and Joe Driscoll of Ocean City, New Jersey, and Melinda K. and Scott Bryles of Whitehall, Arkansas, his father, Earl Mangold of De Queen, five grandchildren, Damien Heffern of Pittsburg, Pa, Heather, and her husband, Tal Beasley of Germany, Eric Walker of Barnesville, Ga., Andy Craig and Daniel Craig both of Whitehall, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Gail Walker of De Queen, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Hoover of Little Rock, Ark.; Betty and Thomas Lutz of De Queen, and Jenny Langtry of Tucson, Arizona, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Floyd Walker will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Burial with military Rites will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5th.

Trisston Lee Oaks

Trisston Lee Oaks infant son of Darrell and Marci Oaks died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Dierks.

He was born March 11, 2008 in Texarkana, Texas.

He is survived by his parents, Darrell Lee and Marci Ann DelBosque Oaks; one sister, Alexis Nichole Oaks of Dierks; his maternal grandparents, Martin DelBosque of Clifton, Texas and Debbie Woods of Waco, Texas; paternal grandparents, Leland and Allie Oaks of Dierks and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the Umpire Community Church with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the Dierks Chapel.

Elizabeth "Liz" Kyle

Elizabeth "Liz" Kyle, age 29, of Wickes passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born February 12, 1979 in De Queen, Arkansas to James Turnbough and Cindy Kuykendall Turnbough. She was united in marriage to James Adam Kyle. Mrs. Kyle was a loving homemaker, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, niece and friend.

Survivors are hur husband: Adam Kyle of cover, Arkansas; 2 daughters: Cortney Kyle and Jeanette Kyle of Cove, AR; her parents: James and Cindy Turnbough of Wickes, AR; 3 sisters: Jessica, Amanda and Celeste Turnbough all of Wickes; her grandmother Marie Powell of Wickes, 3 nieces, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her baby girl, her grandparents, and 2 uncles.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Kyle will be Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wickes with Bro. James Gathright officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.

Visitation is General.

Charles Homer Wise Sr.

Mr. Charles Homer Wise, Sr., age 87, a resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in the Christus St. Michael Health Center in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born February 16, 1921 in Mathiston, Mississippi. He was an inspector for General Motors and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jessie Mae Wise.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Wise, Jr. of Lockesburg and Danny Wise of St. Peters, Missouri; three daughters, Tina Shock of Houston, Texas, Sherry Heikes and Terry Papuzynski both of Lockesburg; one brother, Billy Wise of Mayburn, Mississippi; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Ferrell Dean Kesterson

Ferrell Dean Kesterson, age 37, a resident of Dierks, died Monday, May 5, 2008 in Garland County.

He was born July 24, 1970 in De Queen to Bobby and Velma Wilson Kesterson. He was a highway maintenance worker, loved to hunt and fish and raise deer dogs and was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Kesterson.

He is survived by two brothers, Roger Kesterson of Dierks and Dairl Kesterson of Kirby.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Kenny Fant officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 7th at the funeral home.

Delores Lalia Dixon

Delores Lalia Dixon, age 71, a resident of Lockesburg, AR died Monday, May 5, 2008 at her home.

She was born December 2, 1936 in Lockesburg to Alvie and Maxine Stallard Houser. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Utah Dixon in 1997; her parents, and a grandson, Donavan Sharp.

She is survived by four daughters, Diane Oglesby of De Queen, AR, Mary Buck of Smithville, OK, Lucretia Churchwell of Broken Bow, OK, and Annette Ward of Dierks, AR; one son, Mike Dixon of Lockesburg; one sister Othetta Chillcoat of Lockesburg; two brothers, Otho Houser of De Queen, and Delwin Houser of Lockesburg; 13 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Dixon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in the Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the funeral home.

Johnnie "Bud" Goins

Johnnie "Bud” Goins, left this world to be in the arms of the Lord surrounded by his loving family and friends at Crystal Falls Healthcare on May 3, 2008.

Mr. Goins, 86 years old, was born on March 11, 1922 in Horatio, AR to John L. and Ora (Tommie) Goins. He retired from Somerville & Son Tie Company and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He loved to bass fish, hunt, work in his garden and he adored his grandchildren. He was a wonderful dad and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle; his parents, three brothers, Clermon, Lloyd and Floyd; and a sister, Marie.

Survivors include his two sons, Johnie L. and wife Martha Goins of Paris, TX, and Joe and wife Karen Goins of Lockesburg, AR; two daughters, Sue McDonald and husband Junior of Lockesburg, and Debbie Hanney and husband James of DeQueen, AR; his grandchildren, Beau Goins of Paris, TX, SPC Joseph Goins currently on active duty in Iraq, Bridget LaRue of DeQueen, Sarah Goins of Lockesburg, Wayne Hanney of DeQueen, and Greg Hanney of Lockesburg; five great-grandchildren; one brother Bill Cody of Jonesboro, AR; three sisters, Belle of Arkadelphia, AR, and Doreen and Bonnie of Ft. Smith, AR.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Goins will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. After the funeral services, family and friends will meet at the Old Time Missionary Baptist in DeQueen for lunch.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the funeral home.

Patty June Rivers

Miss Patty June Rivers, age 74, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to Elbert and Minnie Westbrook Rivers at Dierks, Arkansas, on February 9, 1934. She was an active member of the Friendship Baptist Church, where she was Sunday School secretary, and choir member. She loved singing, and was the family historian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Charlotte Jean Rivers, and two brothers, Elbert Harold Rivers, and Gerald Rivers.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jerri Lynn Rivers of De Queen, one nephew, Christopher Gerald Rivers of Edgewood, Texas, one niece, Cheryl Lynn Smyth of Forney, Texas, and five great-nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Patty Rivers will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2008 in the Valley Cemetery, Gillham, Arkansas, with Rev. George Frachiseur officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
