Terrence Jean "Terry" Humphrey

Mr. Terrence Jean "Terry" Humphrey age 49, resident of Foreman, AR died April 8,2008 in Texarkana, TX

He was born to Thomas J. and Marietta Evans Humphrey in San Antonio, TX August 8,1958.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas J. Humphrey. He is survived by his mother Marietta Evans Humphrey of Winthrop, AR; his wife Debbie Humphrey of Foreman, AR; one son Tyler James Humphrey of Foreman, AR; one daughter and son in law Erica Nicole and Chris Tucker of Ashdown, AR; one brother and sister in law Orville L. and Emily Humphrey of New Boston, TX.

Mr. Humphrey was a Past Guard Master of the Masonic Lodge #468 of Foreman and the Foreman Buck Masters.

Funeral services for Mr. Humphrey will be Friday April 11,2008 at 11:00a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church Cross Roads, AR with Rev. Gary Stiener officiating. Burial will be @ Gravelly Cemetery under the direction of Madden Funeral Home in Foreman. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6-8 at Madden Funeral Home in Foreman, AR.

Jennie Mae Bishop Irvan

Mrs. Jennie Mae Bishop Irvan, age 95, a resident of Horatio, died Monday, April 7, 2008 in the Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born September 9, 1912 in Cement, Oklahoma to Horace and Arrie Rogers Bishop. She was a homemaker and a member of the Horatio Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Irvan was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Henry “Bunder” Irvan in 1993.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Cletius and Lorene Irvan of Horatio and Franklin Irvan of Poteau, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Norton Wells of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Nathan Irvan, Vicki Bodine, Jeff Irvan, Karen Montalvo, Nita Irvan, Misty Wolcott, Coty Langlois, Hillarie Irvan, Benjamin Wells, Jonathan Wells, and Matthew Wells; 15 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Irvan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Horatio Assembly of God Church with Rev, J.L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearcreek Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9th at the funeral home.

Following the service the family will be at the home of Cletius Irvan, 803 Woodfield in Horatio.

Mary Louise "Jones" Ruth

Mrs. Mary Louise “Jones” Ruth, age 79, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to Watson Jerome and Sally Viola Magouirk Jones at Roth, Oklahoma, on January 9, 1929. She was a retired employee of Gretch, Inc, as well as a homemaker.

She was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading, playing board games, needle work, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Henry Richard and Kage Jones, two sisters, Opal Mildred Jordon, and Janola Faye Bennett, and her husband, Lee F. Ruth.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Viola and Eddie Parker of Lockesburg, four granddaughters, Sandra and her husband, Michael Hall of Texarkana, Texas, Tina Frost of Texarkana, Ark.; Tonya Parker of Ashdown, and Tina and her husband, Jamie Beasley of Foreman, one grandson, Justin Ruth of Lockesburg, five great-grandchildren, Michael Hall, Jr. and Coleton Hall of Texarkana, Braedon Boyce of Texarkana, Eddie Arce, and Trent McLane of Foreman, two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Danny and Shelia Ruth of Lockesburg, and Don and Debbie Ruth of Broken Bow, Okla., two sisters and a brother-in- law, Lena Bell Adcock of De Queen, and Iva Lee and Wesley Bullard of Post, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Ruth will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellville Cemetery, Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening, April 7th.

James Earl Reid

James Earl Reid, age 77, a resident of Crossroads, AR formerly of DeQueen died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at his home.

He was born May 28, 1930 in Nathan, AR to Theodore and Ocie Rook Reid. He was a former millwright for the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, former employee of Wilson Grocery, was a former Tax Assessor for Sevier County, and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Mr. Reid was a non-denominational Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Pressley Reid; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Stan Dailey of Texarkana, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Barbara Reid of De Queen, AR; one brother, Weldon Reid of Lovington, NM; five grandchildren, Dr. Stacey Hendershott, Julie Ann Dailey, Sarah Beth Dailey, Alisha Reid and Courtney Ahrens; one great-granddaughter, Robin Ahrens.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Redmen Cemetery with Stanley Reid officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Loyce Dean "Sonny" McWhorter

Loyce Dean "Sonny" McWhorter, age 75, a resident of Texarkana, TX died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at his home.

He was born March 16, 1933 in Provo, Arkansas to Allie and Pearl Batey McWhorter. He was a retired truck driver and a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Melva Schultz McWhorter of Texarkana, TX; two daughters, Cathy and Becky; a step-son, George; his mother Pearl McWhorter of Texarkana, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Rufus Askew of Texarkana, AR; and a brother, Jack McWhorter of Rancho Indio, CA.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. McWhorter will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in the McHorse Cemetery with Fred Cox, Jr. officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Alma Hazel Cornelius Baker

Alma Hazel Cornelius Baker, age 85, of Wickes, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born December 17, 1922 in Hochatown, Oklahoma to the late Elmer Owen Cornelius and the late Annice Slayton Cornelius. She was united in marriage December 25, 1938 to the late Woodrow Baker. Mrs. Baker was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Survivors are:

Sons: Calvin Baker and wife Freda of Wickes, Arkansas Larry Joe Baker and wife Joan of Wickes, Arkansas Freddie Baker and wife Diane of Wickes, Arkansas

Daughters: Anita Blair and husband Dale of Wickes, Arkansas Marvella Roan and husband Cecil of Wickes, Arkansas Kathy Kosier and husband Randy of Wickes, Arkansas Lavada Richardson and husband Jimmy of Wickes, Arkansas Carla Wolcott and husband Steve of DeQueen, Arkansas

Brother: Carl Cornelius of Abilene, Texas

Half Sister: Carol Thompson of Redding, California

Step Sister: Lillian Sherwood of Holly Springs, Mississippi

28 Grandchildren 56 Great-grandchildren 20 Great-great-grandchildren

Special Friend: Doyle Farless Special Son-in-law: Fred Barrick Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Annece Cornelius, her husband, Woodrow Baker, a daughter, Lora Mae Barrick, a son, Frank Baker, two sisters, her twin, Helen Lawrence, and Birtell Cornelius, 3 half-sisters, Leona Combs, Wilma Smith, and Ruby Arndt 3 brothers, Norman Cornelius, Herman Cornelius, and Vic Cornelius, 2 nieces, Ann Byers and Jean Early, and 2 grandchildren, Connie and Brian Beckwith.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cove First Church of the Nazarene with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Cove under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be general.

Pallbearers will be Terry Baker, Keith Baker, Brandon Floyd, Freddie Baker, Jr., Dewayne Baker, and Stevie Wolcott. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Titsworth, Clay Davis, Nick Davis, Brad Kosier, Jeff Simmons, Adam DePriest, Russell DePriest, Greg Moon, Shane Moon, David Cirkles, and B. J. Barton.

Ben Harrison Neeley, Sr.

Mr. Ben Harrison Neeley, Sr., age 85, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 in the Christus St. Michael Hosptial, Texarkana.

He was born to Ben and Eva Lee Buffington Neeley at De Queen, Arkansas, on August 10, 1922. He was founder of Neeley’s Welding, and was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed working, fishing, story telling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Effie Stephens, and a son, Larry Gene Neeley.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Billie Jean Burnett Neeley of De Queen, two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben, Jr. and Sue Neeley and Rodger and Teresa Neeley all of De Queen, one brother, Olen Neeley of De Queen, eight grandchildren, Tammy and her husband, Kevin Phipps, Jocelyn and her husband, Barry Reed all of De Queen, Benjamin and his wife, Rachel Neeley of Teague, Texas, and Jonathan and his wife, Holly Neeley of Nashville, Ark., four great-grandchildren, Meagan and Johnny Daley and Noah and Luke Reed all of De Queen, two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Eli Daley of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Public Viewing for Mr. Ben Neeley, Sr., will be Monday, June 2nd at the Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Private family funeral services for Mr. Neeley, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3rd in the Chandler Funeral Chapel with Billy Blakney, minister officiating. Private burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Winfred Bain Minx

Winfred Bain Minx, age 80, a resident of Horatio, AR died Saturday, May 30, 2008 in De Queen Medical Center.

He was born September 27, 1927 in Horatio, AR to Bain and Virgie Minx. He was a retired Postal Service Clerk, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio.

he is survived by his wife: Christine Stokes Minx of Horatio; two daughters: Karen Junkin of Bentonville, AR and Kimberly Randall and her husband Wendell of Horatio; one son: Kris Lee Hopkins of Webster, TX; two grandsons: Jonathan and Joshua Randall; another daughter: Virgie Hoselton; two additional grandchildren: Lonnie and Laurie Hoselton; three great-grandchildren: Kenneth and Krystal Hoselton, all of Grand Island, NE and Kirstie Hoselton of Conway, AR.

Memorial services for Mr. Minx are pending and will be announced later by Wilkerson funeral home.

Mary Agnes Mason Barnes

Mary Agnes Mason Barnes, age 91, a resident of De Queen, AR died Friday, May 30, 2008 in the Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born June 24, 1916 in Cabot, AR to James and Bernice Sanford Mason. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in De Queen.

She married J.D. Barnes on December 3, 1935. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1986. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, James Mason, Charlie Mason and Harold Mason; and a sister, Mildred Yandall.

She is survived by her children, Donald Wyatt Barnes of De Queen, Eura Dean White of Malvern, AR, Bonnie Dee Whisenhunt of De Queen and Phyllis Ann Parson of Omaha, NB; one sister, Bernice Howard of Oklahoma City, OK; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Barnes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with James McRae, minister officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the funeral home.
