Lucy Fern Alexander
Mrs. Lucy Fern Alexander, age 77, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in a nursing home in De Queen, Arkansas. She was born December 16, 1930 in Sevier County, Arkansas to Clifford and Stella Watson Alexander. She was a self employed grocer and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by one son, Tony Jackson of Mt. Ida, Arkansas; two daughters, Gloria Giles of De Queen, Arkansas and Beverly Stephens of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2008 in the Greens Chapel Cemetery with Dany Partlow officiating, under the Direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Johnny Joe Anderson

Johnnie Joe Anderson, age 44, a resident of Kirby, Arkansas died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born November 20, 1964 in Texarkana, Texas to Dana Pope and Sandra Coffey. He was a former millwright for L&J Mechanical in Kirby.

He was preceded in death by one son, Nolan Kyle Anderson and his grandfather, Urstin Coffey.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Anderson; three brothers, Damon Pope, Brandon Pope and Kenneth Pope; three sisters, Tammy Braley, Michelle Pope and Tonya Coker all of Texarkana; his mother and step-father, Sandra and Al Mixon of Junction City, Arkansas; his father and step-mother, Dana and Bobbye Pope of Atlanta, Texas and his grandmother, Vera D. Coffey of Texarkana.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 in the Mt. Joy Cemetery near Daisy with Bro. Terry Summerlin officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Joseph Othel "Pap" Gaddis

Joseph Othel "Pap" Gaddis, age 93, a resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 in the Rich Mountain Nursing Home in Mena, Arkansas.

He was born October 9, 1915 in Sevier County. He was a retired logger, a World War II Air Force Veteran, a Mason and Baptist.

Mr. Gaddis was preceded in death by his wife, Vondal Alexander Gaddis on March 5, 1994. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy C. and Kay Gaddis of Texarkana, AR; two daughters, Donna Hefner and Betty Johnson both of Mena; three sisters, Mary Opal Metz also of Mena, Ina Call of Clovis, New Mexico and Elaine Cooper of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Vern Gaddis of Dierks; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 in the Greens Chapel Cemetery with Bobby Neal officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen. Memorials may be made to the Greens Chapel Cemetery Fund, 149 Firehouse Lane, Lockesburg, AR 71846.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4th at the funeral home in De Queen.

Brandon Martin Stuart
Brandon Martin Stuart, infant son of Argelia De Jesus and Brandon Stuart, residents of De Queen, died Monday, December 1, 2008 in De Queen.
He was born in Texarkana, Texas on December 22, 2007. Besides his parents, Brandon is survived by two brothers, Neftalin White and Abisai de Jesus both of the home, his paternal grandfather, Leveaster Stuart of Center Point, Arkansas, his maternal grandparents, Conrado De Jesus and Maria Luisa De Jesus of Mexico, and a number of aunts and uncles, as well as other family members.

A Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with Father Jose Orellana officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Church

Charles Allen Wood

Charles Allen Wood, a resident of Umpire, was born on December 3, 1930 in Nashville, Arkansas to the late Nolie (Pierce) Wood and Edward Wood. He passed away on Saturday, November 29th in a Texarkana hospital.

Charles worked in the oil field and gas pipeline industry for many years and is a retired cross-country truck driver. He was a member of the International Lions Club and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home. One son Robert Charles Wood of White Bear Lake, MN; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Joe Kelley of Franklinton, LA, Julie and Art Morrison of Cold Water, MI, Semele Grant of Harrison Twp, MI, and Pennie Mussi of Cory, PA; two step-daughters, Rissie Humphries of Fortson, GA and Victoria Natusch of Winston Salem, NC; one sister, Ann Smithson of Nashville and one brother, Joe of Humboldt, IA; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Rubye Barker of Winston Salem, NC and mother-in-law, Maude Barker of Winston Salem, NC.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kevin L. Castillo

Mr. Kevin Castillo, age 22, a resident of De Queen, AR, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Cerro Gordo, Arkansas.

He was born in De Queen, Arkansas, on December 10, 1985. He was a graduate of De Queen High School, and was an employee of Pilgrim’s Pride. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen, and enjoyed fishing and skiing.

He is survived by his father, Alvaro Castillo of De Queen, his mother, Shirlene Watson Navarette of De Queen, four sisters, Amy Marrufo of Horatio, Latisha Castillo, Stephanie Bowers and Melonie Bowers all of De Queen, his special family, Vic and Paula Smith, Kaytlon, Brent and extended family of De Queen, his grandparents, JoAnn and Billy Brizendine of De Queen, and Jim and Shirley Pearce of De Queen, and a nephew, Kevin Marrufo of De Queen, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Kevin Castillo will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Coy Arnold and Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2nd.

Mr. Owen Emmett Williamson

Mr. Owen Emmett Williamson, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born September 7, 1924 in De Queen to Emmett and Lillie Chronister Williamson. He served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, retired from Arkansas Electric Co-Op and was a Baptist.

Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Luther and Carl Williamson and one sister, Blanch Williamson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Leeper Williamson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Linda Williamson, David and Vickie Williamson, and Nathan and DeDee Williamson; one daughter, Peggy Williamson; three sisters, Nadine Breland, Shirley VanVoast and Mary Kirby Tallant; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews

Funeral Services for Mr. Williamson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 28th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Madge Wright Millwee

Mrs. Madge Wright Millwee, age 88, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas after a short illness.

She was born Friday, June 4, 1920 in King, Arkansas to William Oren “Buck” and Mamie Lee Shrum Wright. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a member of the First Christian Church, the Tri-Lakes Good Sams Club of De Queen and the singing group The Wright Sisters Quartet that sang and performed all over the United States as well as on the radio.

Mrs. Millwee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Paul Millwee on May 6, 2001; her step-mother, Vannie Wright; sisters, Blanche Poole, Elba Skelton, Faye Wright, all of De Queen; two brothers, Carl Wright of Mena, Arkansas and Roy Wright of Mobile, Alabama; a nephew, Steve Skelton of Lockesburg and niece, Jean Brewer Cordia of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Wayne Butler of De Queen, and Melinda and Jimmy Shumaker of Texarkana, Texas; two grandchildren, Cassie Cobb of Texarkana, Texas and Ryan Cobb of Conway, Arkansas; five nieces, Olivia Skelton Humphries of Nashville, Arkansas, Margaret Wright Daniels of Mobile, Alabama, Jeri Wright Cochran of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Ina Sue Dodd and Carlene Kathy Eggert of Fayetteville, Arkansas and a number of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will be at 145 Craig Lane in De Queen, Arkansas

Mrs. Anna Mae Murray Cooper

Mrs. Anna Mae Murray Cooper, age 74, a resident of Ft. Smith, Arkansas died Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Springdale.

She was born February 23, 1934 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Henry and Gladys Murray. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leslie Gilbert Cooper on September 3, 2007; one son, Danny Ray Cooper and one grandson, Gilbert Clay Cooper.

She is survived by three children, Leslie Clay Cooper and his wife Mary of Springdale, Cathy Jean Hendrix and her husband Darrell of Tenkiller, Oklahoma and Dale Henry Cooper and his wife Shelly of Ft. Smith; one brother, Bill Murray of Waldron; grandchildren, Anna Cooper, Nicole and D.J. Hendrix and Haley Cooper; one great grandchild, Allen Cooper.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cooper will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Clinard officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26th before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Edward Lawrence Griffin
Mr. Edward Lawrence Griffin, age 81, a resident of De Queen, and former resident of Horatio, died Monday, November 24, 2008, in the Crystal Falls Nursing Center. He was born to John and Myrtle Chandler Griffin at Horatio, Arkansas, on August 27, 1927.
He was a retired saw miller, and was a member of the Old Center Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and training and trading dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clifford and Floyd Griffin, a sister, Thelma McKaughan, a son, Edward Griffin, and his wife, Earlyne Griffin.

He is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and Billy McWhorter of Lockesburg; Barbara Boone of De Queen, and Brenda Shoals of Ashdown, Ark. Eleven grandchildren, Debbie Smith, Billy Ray McWhorter, Ronnie Mooneyham, Anthony Mooneyham, Nancy Mooneyham, Carlos Contreras, Carmen Contreras, Michael Williamson, Chad Williamson, Scott Williamson, and Sarah Short, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ed Griffin will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in the Old Center Church with Rev. Sam Hendricks and Rev. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25th.

Mrs. Clara M. Bradshaw Shaw

Mrs. Clara M. Bradshaw Shaw, age 77, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Saturday, November 22, 2008, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen. She was born to William Archie and Lora Eunice Jenkins Bradshaw at Bonham, Texas, on October 28, 1931. She was secretary for Sevier County Farmer Coop for several years, as well as a homemaker. She attended The Union Community Church and enjoyed sewing, needle crafts, fishing, and travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Shaw, her parents, three brothers, Douglas, E. H., and J. C. Bradshaw, two sisters, Nadine Waters, and Dessie Taylor.

She is survived a step-daughter, Kathy and her husband, Richard West of Wichita Falls, Texas, a step-grandson, David Ledbetter of Wichita Falls, Texas, a step-great-grandson, Haley Ledbetter of Wichita Falls, Texas; by three brothers, her twin, Clarence Bradshaw of Gladewater, Texas, Archie Bradshaw of Arlington, Texas, and Larry Bradshaw of De Queen; three sisters, Lorene Adams of Paris, Texas, Yvonne Lenhard of Orange, Texas, and Bonnie McGhee of Pottsboro, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Clara Shaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2008 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Lois Ella Stokes Kennedy
Mrs. Lois Ella Stokes Kennedy, age, 90, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Dierks.

She was born November 16, 1918 at Cobbtown, Arkansas to Joe and Mittie Bagley Stokes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Dierks.

Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her husbands, H. L. Kennedy and Cecil Axton, a daughter, Melba Kennedy and two great- grandsons, Matthew Tallant and Andrew Eric Wray.
She is survived by one son, Mickey Kennedy of Nashville, Arkansas; two daughters, Jean Williams of Longview, Texas and Wanda Scroggins of Dierks, Arkansas; one sister, Billie Smithson of Longview, Washington; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Kennedy will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the Dierks Cemetery with Danny White officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 24th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Mr. Adam Neal Warren

Adam Neal Warren, age 21, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his home.

He was born June 23, 1987 to Kenneth Neal and Teri Lyle Warren. He was employed at Tyson Foods, Inc. where he worked with his brother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheelers, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Lyle, Kenneth Warren, Cecil Warren and Jessie Warren.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Kenneth and Ilsa Warren of Wickes, AR; his mother, Teri Warren of Hatton, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kellie Warren of Grannis, and one sister, Hana Warren; maternal grandparents, Gene and Barbara Lyle of Mena, AR; Doyle and Mary Bagley of Wickes, AR; maternal great-grandmother, Mae Lyle of Mena, AR; paternal grandparents, Danny and Wanda Rutherford Walls of Sherman, TX; his aunt and uncles, Sheila and Mark Frachiseur of Grannis and Roger Warren of Tom Bean, TX; two nieces, Haley and Rendi Warren of Grannis; four cousins, Jared Frachiseur, Stephanie Jenkins, Bobby and Brian Warren, several other cousins, and many more family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008 in the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Ronny Tilley and Bro. Don Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
